S62 PT#1: Game on

My team has changed in the off season pretty significantly, as I am a send down still for the Newfoundland Berserkers, a lot of our top players have been called up. Leaving the bigger roles to the rookies of last season. We have added a new class of rookies, as well as free agents signs to fill up the rest of the roster. Last season we were in the cup final, and I believe that because our class of rookies in the NL locker room last year were some of the best we can get back to that cup final. Another big change was last season one of our gms left their position which led to the addition of BEEG YOSH into the gm role. We also have a whole new set of captains and advisors. The NL Locker room is a lot different from last year, but the culture that was instilled in its championship days is still there and ready for another run at the cup. Lets go Zerks. (171)

It feels a lot like De ja vu in the 5 Burroughs of New York as the Rage embark on another season. Last season, the Rage were one of, if not the worst team in the entire league. We couldn't score, we couldn't defend and our goalie......well at least his name is redacted to prevent any further shame to his family. This off-season we drafted well and added a good group to our already great prospect depth. Unfortunately that doesn't mean anything for the big club this season because they will be honing their craft in juniors. So I expect us to not score a lot, give up a lot of goals and continue our tank. My hopes are that I play well and Thomas Lind shows himself. If we can take a few shocker games from some of the bigger powerhouses of the league then that will be a win in the Rage books.

Prompt number 2 sees me writing about the major changes that went on during the off-season. And boy was it a doozy of an off-season. The Toronto North Stars had a rough play-off where we were nearly swept in the first round. Not great. Our General Manager stepped down for reasons that are their own, and we began a search for a new general manager. We got one, and there seems to be some energy back in the locker room. We were once again caught up in draft drama which is never fun, especially since the last bit of drama sapped the energy from the North Stars in a way that cannot be understated. This drama did not seem to have that same effect on the North Stars which is a blessing. We had some roster turnover, and some folks go inactive because life keeps going and we all keep chugging along. hopefully, the changes will see us have success after being crippled by heavy-handed head officing, but only time will tell.

PROMPT 2, WRITTEN

As usual, the Carolina Kraken have seen a fair amount of player callups this season, as well as the inevitable and dreaded loss of good folks to Inactivity. Why are the Kraken in such high demand? Is it just because we're all such cool and amazing people? Definitely. Still, with the loss of our top defenseman, Granny Pan Pan, who has gone on to the be the number one contender for Rookie of the Year in the SHL, the blue line took a hit. Additionally, the loss of Cormac Ponaire will be felt, on and off the ice. We had some impressive performances from our rookie class last season and made a quality, if lone, addition in this seasons draft.

The outlook is good. Carolina seems to be trapped in a cycle of being perennially competitive, but unable to close. Ever a bridesmaid, never a bride. Hopefully this is the year we can come up with the Big Dub.

New England Wolfpack has not really lost any players in the past offseason. We did bleed some players during the past seasons with players moving to become co-GMs and such. But the time for the New England Wolfpack is nearing and we have a really solid group of players who will all improve a lot, quite a number are among the top of their classes in TPE. While our previous scoring leader Jakub Bruchevski has started to regress heavily, my own Calvin Hobbes has surpassed him and ready to step in and fill the shoes of the former glory center. Calvin still has a few seasons before regression so lots of time to improve, but it is around this time I would expect to see some results and improvements. More goals, assists and points overall and having a bigger impact on the ice when he's on, combined with more minutes!
With all that, I am hoping the Wolfpack will advance further in the playoffs and start feeling up for the conference title. While that is a big ask, you gotta have dreams right?

Prompt 1

Magnus Liljestrom stepped into the locker room and looked around to see familiar faces. The Superstars team consisted mainly of his fellow S53 players, many of whom he had come up through the ranks with in the Juniors as a member of the extremely strong S53 draft. There was the British Bruiser Edward Williams @Aephino as Center, although these days he'd gone fully into his Texas Renegades persona and sported a black cowboy hat and bandanna habitually; right winger Ryuuji Minamino @Nhamlet from the Chicago Syndicates, who tipped his fedora at Magnus when they locked eyes; left winger Sven Svenson @LordBirdman who was trying to describe something to Williams using extremely animated (and rude) hand gestures; and his future defensive partner/heated rival Jukka Timonen @juke, who was already getting up to greet him as he walked to the stall with his name and jersey.

"Timonen, you son of a bitch!" said Magnus as they walked towards each other.

Their hands smacked together in a macho display of pure testosterone and bulging muscles, catching the attention of everyone else in the room.

Timonen's arm started wavering as Liljestrom squeezed harder.

"What's the matter, Chicago has you pushing too many pucks?" Magnus' grin grew larger.

"Make it easy on yourself Lily - OK OK OK, enough!" said Timonen, as he gave up. "You never did know when to quit, did you, huh?"

"Damned good to see you, Timmy," said Magnus. "Let's get down to business."

Prompt #2

The Baltimore Platoon didn't make waves in the offseason so our lineup is mostly intact.

We got Alexej Komarek during the draft because WE HAD TO! and it was our only available pick (no really JR you are a steal in the third round, yay for SHL rules) but he will not play for the team for a little while. Other than that, everybody has been working hard and have been improving so I see us having yet another great season.

I think a lot of teams are starting to better understand the sim, us included, so the Platoon will have more functional players with better stats in the long run. I think Hamilton will still won it all as usual but I believe more and more teams will challenge them more in the seasons to come. We don't have the best start of season so far but I'm confident we will do good again.

Prompt #2

I'm so beyond excited for this season! My player was traded to the San Francisco Pride which is a team that I feel has been just short on luck. They've tried to make their team prominent by trading for the likes of Mats Marner in the past and a lot of members just don't see the Pride as a force to be reckoned with. I hope to change that. The Pride went into the Entry Draft with the intention to improve the team one way or another. They were either going to pick up some young talent that was going to be unmatched when they develop or trade for talent that would make that impact immediately. They actually did both at the draft by trading down in the 1st round and then flipping that pick for Jack Klompus while getting both Borje Samuelsson and Ezra Wong in the later rounds of the draft. It was a fantastic off-season for the Pride and things are looking good as they try to win their division and make a run in the playoffs.

PROMPT 1: Despite it being really weird for me to think of myself as a Superstar, being that I'm only in my second season of regression that's probably where I should be. (I did win an award this past season, so maybe I'm not completely trash.) The good thing about being in this group is that several of the folks here are my teammates, including my old friend Henrik Lekberg Osterman and Sven Svensson and my new buddies Jack Klompus and Parker Smeb. Given that I'm kind of introverted at my core, I naturally gravitate to the guys I know as I attempt to read the room. A lot of my teammates are a lot more outgoing than me so I'll probably (at least initially) rely on them to introduce me to some of the other folks. Being that some of these guys are, indeed, actual superstars as opposed to superstars in name only like me, It is a bit intimidating to be playing with them. But it's also an exciting opportunity to push myself to play at the highest possible level and maybe learn a few things along the way. I'm just happy to be here, to be honest. And in the first practice, it seems everyone else is kind of feeling out things as well, so perhaps I'm not alone in feeling this way. As we get to know each other I'm sure things will get more intense, but we'll take it slow for now.

Task 2

The Calgary Dragons have changed in numerous ways from last season. The youth movement for this team is finally underway. Starting with ASM and Videl Valor the team is expecting these two to really contribute offensively. Both of them have made a huge impact when they were down in the SMJHL, winning cups, lighting the lamp. They were two of the most dominant forwards in the minor league last year and fans are extremely excited to see what they can do in the big leagues. Another addition is another rookie but this one is not expected to score goals. Rather the opposite. Zhen Roza is stepping into the big leagues to back up. While not ready to handle the majority of starts, he is looked at as the goalie of the future in Calgary. No one knows what is in store for this team, but it will be fun to see all the young players developing.

Playoffs did not go as we hoped. We were hopeful that we could make a push through the late rounds of the playoffs and make a run at the challenge cup. This off-season, we took the time to reflect on what improvements we need to make during clutch times. We realized we will need a bit more gas in the tank down the stretch. We had a better season than most of the league expected. Now, the league is recognizing that Baltimore is one of the top teams in the leagues. Accordingly, the casino odds reflect how good the Baltimore Platoon are. A 50 win season won’t come as a surprise to the league like last season. There’s been some big gains by key players on the team. Management set out to address some of the key areas for improvement, and I am confident that these were addressed and we are ready for a really good season. New season, new expectations, big improvements.

Ok so quickly scrolling it seems like not many people did prompt 1 so I figured I would give it a shot & a couple paragraphs later I got too into it so here you go lol not sure exactly how the rules work for PT’s but you said be creative & make a story so I went with it. If it’s allowed reply vote your answer or however it would work if it’s allowed thanks Smile
Prompt 1

Waking up on what seemed to be an uneventful Thursday morning quickly turned into an unforgettable one for Erich Tokke. Having only played on the Colorado Raptors (scrimmages with his SHL team the Baltimore Platoon but who counts those right?) he was finally starting to get in a groove and build some chemistry with his teammates. He even found leadership capabilities within himself and was voted assistant captain this past year, hoping to help lead the Raptors to cup glory. However, all that was about to change in an instant. Tokke suddenly found himself on by far the most talented team he’s ever been apart of, with all of the superstar prospects throughout the SMJHL & SHL on his team. He learned that his fellow youngins would be competing against all of the old farts grizzled veterans and hall of fame players of all sorts. The older players have a wealth of experience on their side but with an abundance of youthful exuberance throughout the Up & Comers squad it will without a doubt be an entertaining matchup to watch.

Walking into practice that first day, before he stepped on the ice, he had to take a quick pit stop in the bathroom because he wasn’t ready, last night probably shouldn’t have had moms spaghetti. His nerves quickly calmed as soon as he walked out the bathroom door and heard a very familiar voice. “Toe kayyyyy!!!” Angus Mcfife XVII shouted out with a grin. “Proud of you kid, you’ve come a long way since you first got here, now look where you are” he said.
“Thanks Captain I just appreciate and look forward to the oppor..*muffled*”
“Ayyyy what’s up Rook” recently graduated Colorado Bash Brother Artemis Nystrom comes from behind and puts Tokke in a headlock.
“Hahah what’s up man aren’t we all rookies here though?”
“Man I know I’m just busting your balls, hope we get put on the same line and we can wreck some havoc.”

More settled in knowing he knows at least a few players on the team, practice goes pretty well for him given the heightened level of competition. After hitting the showers and heading to the car he hears a shout, “hey Erich!!..Erich!!”
He turned around to see fellow top Baltimore prospects now sophomores in the SHL Noel Blanchet & Mew Two.
“What’s up bro me, Two and a couple of the older guys are heading down to the tavern to get a couple drinks, maybe head to a club or something after you wanna come?”

Now you know those moments when your playing a great RPG game and you have an important decision to make? This is one of those. Erich has never been that big of a drinker, definitely a lightweight for someone of his stature who is 6’6 244lbs. So going out with the boys & going to the club sounds fun and all, but a bad hangover is inevitable and there’s a morning skate tomorrow morning. However, a night out with two future teammates and some grizzled veterans could also provide an invaluable experience.
I don’t know if this is allowed (sorry if not slash) or if anyone will read it but I’m going with this rpg vibe lol

A. Should Tokke turn down the offer and get a good nights rest to be 100% ready to go for practice tomorrow?

B. Take the guys up on their offer, go out and party you only live once!

C. Go out for dinner but skip drinks & the club.
