S62 mPT 4: Automation
#76

I think some sort of bot or program or whatever that can automatically grade PTs would be great. The wait for everything to be graded is a big complaint a lot of the time so something that can just scrape mock draft or season predictions or whatever and can also check the word count when something is posted would be really cool. I'm not a compsci guy so no idea how it would work or how hard something like that would be to make.

It would be great to have everything automated. Then I could go IA and still be considered a max earner. The best of both worlds. Let's just make everyone 20 everything and sim seasons in a day.

PT's would be improved greatly with a little bit of automation for sure. For example, if we would have an opportunity to have an automated PT's from a robot which is always about hockey. It would make this league much more about hockey and not about unreal fantasies.

I would love to find a system that automated writing some words for Point tasks for me. I struggle in general with ADHD and sometimes its hard to just sit down and manually type out a response. Most of the PT's are fun its just finding the 5 minutes of motivation to sit down and do it.

One thing that isn't technically automation that I think would be cool to see, is a consolidated claim form like the PBE recently introduced. All tasks are graded and put into a google sheet, which then adds together the amount of TPE each person got for the week from PTs and spits out a number that the poster can then copy and paste into a single post. The sheet is linked at the top of every claim post so that it's available for easy reference, but it makes updaters' lives much easier and helps the regular user as well.

I know an update automation system is in the works, and so I'm not that worried about it. While I would love activity checks to be automated, I know that we also use those to help determine expansion. So realistically, I think if we could automate GM Tasks in some way -- at least the review portion of it -- would be fantastic as we wouldn't have any issues with HO not getting to something in time .

I think the obvious answer that everyone would like to see done is updating, but the more fun answer is thunderdoming. We should have an AI that does mad lib style thunderdomes based on what threads get the highest engagement, and the most frequent words written inside of them. Some would be big misses, but some would knock it out of the park.

i think having a way to automate player updating and attribute upgrades would be great. i have to go in and manually do all of my upgrades in the player builder and it would be a great addition to somehow plug my build plan and have it automatically use my tpe towards the plan

Trolling Python whenever he posts something would be epic. Who do I contact to get that set up? I think ACs should be relatively easy to automate? Some script that just looks for a user's post each week..? If that can be done, you could likely do that for mPTs and PTs too, just add to the script so it checks for word count. But then, it'd probably be too robotic at that point tbh. It would help on our side to have some sort of crazy script that claims TPE automatically (based on the seasonal claim posts).

Maybe we can just automate everything after we create our player. Automatically complete PTs, buy training and post in ACs, the TPE for which is claimed automatically and automatically used to update our players. So all we have to do is shitpost on Discord.

Now, I enjoy the stats, the analytics of hockey, and trying to justify why my players high PDO is more important that his dire Corsi, or that +/- is so a valid measure of performance, shut up, you’re just jealous!
But, I know others maybe aren’t so into it, or find it a bit confusing, so just an automatic indicator of whether your player is doing well, say a thumbs up or praying Yoshi, or indeed playing badly, like a big poop emoji.

Safe to say if the SHL would implement SBA's clipp-e (automated task claim bot) it would help users a lot, especially those who use this on their phones. It would also make updating so much easier if you would be able to just click and claim the amount of TPE you got from a task and got it added immediately to your current total

As someone who has spent many months toiling as an updater, getting rid of the forum updating and having a system similar to what the SBA has that does the dirty work would be a huge help. This would make updating infinitely easier for players (and decrease the learning curve involved) and would also limit the amount of tedious work the updaters have to do.

Updating for sure should be the next goal. As for the player side of updating there was only about 30 of us in the HCL (cricket league) but I've never seen an updating system that even came close to as good as that. Every comment you made would have a "..." and you could click that and then click "claim for TPE". After that you could go to your player page and press the apply TPE button and you were given like a video game menu of sorts. All your stats were listed and they had a + or - to add and take away stats. Adding stats would take away the correct amount of TPE and when you were at 0 or whatever you wanted you would hit save and lock those stats in. I wish that league didn't die.

The very obvious answer here is updating, especially since other leagues already have found a way to do it (VHL). I think people who have been here a while forget how unintuitive and complicated our TPE-allocation and update systems can be for someone who is new to sim leagues and how many people we might be losing along the way because of that.
