1. Victor Helstrom smell good +3

2. My favorite GM of all time is Gabriel Johnson. He did so much for the steelhawks @Gwdjohnsonlike trade for their best move in team history, by trading for Rotticus Scott. Gabe also was a great locker room guy, making sure everyone was checked in and having fun. He also won a cup with Anchorage and that was pretty cool of Gabe. Another good GM is @Hallsy. He is the brains behind the Steelhawks roster development and does a great job keeping the Steelhawks competitive season after season. He knows what works in the Genermal managing space and has given me a lot of knowledge in terms of the SHL and what goes on behind close doors. Having a lot of great GM's under me has really helped me grow into a GM myself. I even had @Katthand @Naosuwho were both insanely good GM's during my tenure in the J. They made a ton of moves to help us become competitive year after year.  +3 TPE

3. I am going to talk about Vitek Vitecek. He was drafted right before me in the Season 54 draft class, with us both going to the Chicago Syndicate. I think if Vitek stayed active, the landscape of the SHL would be very different. On paper the S54 draft for the Chicago Syndicate was a disaster, with no one left on the team and 3 picks in the top 20 or so picks. Rotticus Scott, Vitek Vitecek, and Jean Uthred Ragnarsson Tremblay. For a season, all three picks were top 10 in TPE. Then some things happened, Vitek went inactive due to time constraints, Rotticus was traded due to some inner team strife, and JURT was the only one left. Then, Jurt left for Seattle. I think if Vitek stayed and Rotticus didn't request a trade that team could've been even more deadly. Imagine the current 2k+ roster on Chicago with 3 more 2k players to go along, that team would be nasty gnarly.

1. 1+ TPE
hello

3. 3 TPE
This one hits home. My good frenemy from Hockey Dynasty, Titan, was drafted along with me to the New Orleans Specters, both of us coming out of the Kelowna Knights, which I, of course, was ecstatic about! But alas, he never donned a NOLA jersey and went out a Kelowna legend instead. I was drafted 4th overall to NOLA while Titan, Cian McFelter, joined me shortly after at #12. Tons of potential there, dude's a legend in Hockey Dynasty; Discord mod, always around to help newbies, always there to make fun of me whenever I show up, and a solid GM (I have 2 Cups to his grand total of 0 though, so take that with a grain of salt eh). If he were still going strong on the SHL, NOLA would be that much better! We'd have a solid Center playing up the middle for us and a great linemate for Vlastislav Malik. We could probably run a Malik-McFelter-Kauppinen line, composed fully of Hockey Dynasty guys. Anyways, maybe he'll come back one day!

6. 4 TPE
a) Not going to lie, I don't care either way. But, I'll say a Cup win in the FHM era, since that's where we're at right now and I am here now and I need a Cup win with NOLA. I do have a Cup with Kelowna though, so I guess that's better than nothing.
b) Let's be honest here, we're seeing the same teams basically every season, because there is a problem. I barely follow along with the playoffs (partly since NOLA isn't in it and partly because its boring and partly because I barely follow along with anything anyways besides being a max-earner). So, yes. We probably still would've seen the same teams. Get it over with and move on to the next season already.
c) Let's bring a team to Markham. We're a growing city and clearly have more than 5 people (I can vouch for this). Where is Markham? Near Toronto. Don't we already have a team there? Yes, but who cares? Bring a team to Markham, since I'm here. Wait. If HAM relocates here, will people automatically hate Markham? You know what, never-mind. Take it somewhere else.
d) Me. Vlastislav Malik. Max-earner since he joined the SHL in S56, drafted to NOLA in S57. I want to be in the Finals, its that simple. Malik does fairly well on a bottom team and its time we improve. Enough of watching the same teams duke it out. Its boring. Move this along. NOLA vs X would automatically be more exciting.

11. 2 TPE
a) Well, I believe the Texas Renegades won. They won over the Hamilton Steelhawks, so I suppose a chunk of the SHL is automatically happy. Anyways, they won in 7 games, so I'd say that's fairly exciting right off the bat. If you count the fact that they went up 1-0, then 1-1, up 2-1, tied 2-2 in OT, down 2-3 in OT, and then came back to tie it 3-3 and then winning it all 4-3, you've got a rollercoaster of emotions there. Not sure if there was a clear winner, considering it went back and forth and all the way down the wire, but I think we'll take TEX over HAM by default.

12. 2 TPE
Here

19. 3 TPE
Take a nap. We're in for another boring season. Besides that, I'd bet in the Casino, get some money out of the TEX win and the HAM finals (again eh), etc. Also, I'd probably go back to my fantasy picks and not take those dmen I took (Lyle Odelein III, etc). They clearly didn't help. And I'd probably get my NOLA teammates pick Vlastislav Malik up in fantasy, at least as a 3rd forward, considering I finished 31st in fantasy (while on NOLA). I did drop off in the 2nd half of the szn though, so MAYBE its worth dropping me around then and taking someone else. I'd also start posting everywhere about parity. Seriously, are we going to do something out that? I don't see why people in other teams would even want to stick around, besides tight-knit Discords. Hopefully we won't have a similar prompt next season and we'll have other teams in the Finals. IRL, COVID isn't gone yet, so gotta get people to get their boosters, stay safe, etc. Cheating on Primetimes, etc is a given of course.

There have been some good and some bad GMs in SHL history. (Mostly bad) Pick a GM you think was outstanding and explain why you think they were one of the better GMs in SHL history. Point to trades/signings/trophy wins/locker rooms to support your claim.

I would like to say that Fuzz and TDZ in LAP have done an amazing job running the team and building it into what it has become today. Wasty was a legend in LA obviously, but when I personally stepped into the lockerroom, I have to say there was not too much going on in there and a bunch of us had just joined in. With Fuzz and TDZ at the helm, the activity levels quickly picked up and with their draft and trade acquisitions, the lockerroom has quickly become a fantastic place to be with a lot more activity than it started out with when they first took over. On the ice, it may have taken a while but they have built and extremely strong and promising team here in LAP. With the acquisitions they've made, especially stocking up on many of the top players in the S56 draft, we have a very strong core there that will be competing head to head with other top teams in the league and starting next season has a real chance to start coming out ahead of them in my opinion. 6. Written, up to 4 TPE - Grab Bag: Pick up to 4 Challenge Cup related topics to write about! Each topic is worth 1 TPE. Each answer must be 50+ words.

a. What is worth more to you, a cup win in the FHM era or the STHS era?

Well, considering that I have never played a game in the STHS era, a cup win in the FHM era would be worth more to me. And from what I hear, the STHS era was pretty simplified and not as creative so that sounds a lot less fun. That being said that seems to be what is going on with the FHM era, but regardless I value the present more than the past. (73 words)

b. Be honest, would we have seen the same final 4 as last year (Chicago, Texas, Hamilton, Buffalo) had BUF/HAM and TEX/CHI not run into each other in the second round?

I will be honest, no I don't think we would have seen the same final 4 last year. If LAP had run into Chicago, I think they had a very good chance of beating them. LAP was right there in the matchup with Texas, as Texas only barely got by them in 6 games. Not that they didnt deserve to get by but it was a very close matchup. (69 words)

Welp, you waited until the last day to grind out your CW and the CC finals are longggggggg over by now. congrats to [TEAM], woo! Was it an exciting final, or predictable? Is one team the clear winner?

Well, I waited until the last day to grind out my CW, and I must say it was actually a pretty exciting final, if you ignore the fact that it is the same two teams from last year. The biggest difference this year is that it was not just a sweep of one team like last season. The series went back and forth all the way to game 7 and the team that lost last year came out victorious this year so that must feel pretty damn good for Texas. Clear winner since they won, but they weren't that far in the clear. (103 words).

14. Written, 3 TPE, Blow it up (150 words min.)

In your opinion, which team is on track to completely sell off all assets and begin a long rebuild? A few teams are already in the midst of this, but what teams are watching their window slowly close and need to get younger soon in order to start the climb back to the top?

In my opinion there are a few teams that are at or nearing this point. So Toronto was at the top for a very short amount of time and so they will be blowing shit about in the coming seasons. Unfortunately for them it seems like they really were not able to take advantage of a very strong lineup that they had tpe wise. But they also had the misfortune of being cast in the great lakes division which had buffalo, chicago and hamilton, the top 3 teams in the league for a very long time. We'll see how they turn it around. I think Hamilton might be nearing the end of their reign at the top with the incoming changes to regression as they are an older team but it has hamilton so that is probably a dumbass thing for me to say and they'll probably get away with it and be strong for like another 5 seasons or maybe forever. A Fantasy Hockey Manager cup win is worth more to me than a SimonT I would say. They both seem pretty random, but at least nowadays all the general managers have the software and put the work in exporting lines and whatnot. It was not so long ago some SimonT GMS still just updated a thread. Though I know not all teams test sim nowadays either.

I would relocate the Hamilton franchise to the prairie of the plains aka the fountain city - Kansas City, Missouri. The nice folks in the heartland of America deserve a squad and have an empty stadium ready to rock. Players and owners alike would enjoy fine BBQ on the regular. Resurrect the Kansas City Scouts!

TOTAL: 16 TPE
Task One – Trivia: 3 TPE
Completed - Victor Helstrom
Task Four – Rules: 3 TPE
I believe that the SHL has always had a strict policy against tampering, which for the most part, is well-founded. However, there seems to be a real disconnect between the definition of tampering and the application of the punishment associated with a tampering situation. I can recall a few different times in the S20s and S30s where a tampering charge was assessed to a franchise and it seriously brought that team back a few steps on their journey towards contention. I do see many situations in the current day SHL where something occurs that I’d consider tampering, but the league’s perspective and the Head Office’s perspective seem to differ. It seems like there is so much gray area, and that is a dangerous slope. I think that tampering can occur publicly, and even if it is public, that shouldn’t excuse the behavior of a player or manager from publicly trying to sway or convince a player or user to join their team when they’re under a contract with another team or haven’t reached the free agency period.
Task Ten – Podcast (10 Minutes): 4 TPE
https://anchor.fm/ace0403/episodes/SHL-C...st-e1c65r8
Task Thirteen – Parity: 3 TPE
Yeah, so, parity is an issue that needs to be addressed, and it needs to be addressed as soon as possible. There’s been dialogue across the board that directs blame at General Management teams, at the simulation engine, FHM6, and at the Head Office. I know that Head Office is taking this very seriously and is evaluating their options on how to level the playing field. The sheer lack of parity is clearly impacting the drive and interest in becoming a general manager in this league, as we have a serious lack of applicants for prominent SHL manager positions. I believe, prior to Luke applying, there were no apps for the New England position for weeks. If the league can somehow sort out a way to level the playing field for new managers, I believe this will address the GM shortage and parity if we can somehow get to a place where testing is much more difficult, if not impossible.

d. Who is the best player to NOT make the final in the past 2 years?

A) Honestly, a cup in the FHM era is more important, because I finally won one in the STHS era. I think winning in STHS was awesome because it was so random, you had to have a good team and beat Simon T. In FHM, I think it's more accurate and you really do need a good team to win. And, I think it's a lot harder to manipulate the FHM sim engine, where we saw a lot of work arounds and cheap tricks sometimes in STHS.

B) I think it would've been the same matchup no matter where everyone else was seeded. FHM does a good job of being fair, IMO, and Texas and Hamilton have built really good teams and they deserve to be at the top right now. I think we're going to see them fall off sooner than later, but right now the match up makes sense.

c) If I was going to relocate Hamilton, I'd move them somewhere interesting to me. I'd move them to South Dakota. Why is that interesting? Because there's nothing else to do out there, so we might as well give them a hockey team. Don't at me, my decision stands. South Dakota will be the new home of a SHL franchise.

I love to do things last minute. That's the only way the bot pings me to get shit done. I'm glad the series went this way. After seeing Hamilton win 4-0 last season, it was unenjoyable. To see this series end in 7 games and have Texas get their revenge, it's awesome. That, and that Texas had to come back from a 3-2 deficit to win it all. My heart still resides in Texas so I'm happy to see it go that way. It's also awesome to see an entire team effort in putting points up, rather than just one player. It makes it so much more interesting to see a team game than one player stealing a series. Kudos for Cillian Kavanagh for an amazing playoffs.

I mean, I'm gonna write about the WJC because I was in it. I'll be quite honest. I loved being on top during the round robin, but am so pissed that we lost to DACH in the first round. Finland was slated to be in the finals and one game kind of ruins everything. I think we've seen amazing play from a lot of young players including Aittokallio and Tightpants. It gives me hope that Finland will grow into an IIHF powerhouse in the future. We all knew the Young Guns were going to be a hodgepodge of bad, but they've got some players that will change locations and be important in the future, specifically Ergo Nomic.

In the not so distant future (s64), 4 Texas Hamilton finals in a row have seen most of the SHLers quit out of spite. Only a select few remain. Head Office reeeeaaally likes having 20 teams so they have now allowed every user to have 5 players to fill the void of everyone who left. Name your other 4 players that aren't your current player, select their positions, and decide their focus and path in the league. Postulate where they end up after the draft and how the players pan out.

I mean, if I had this option I'd likely create a team around one player. So, I'd keep Fred VS as my all-star and make a center, a winger, a defenseman, and a goalie.

On the opposite wing I'd have Bjorn Tafack, the guy who gets his nose dirty and beats up anyone that touches Fred VS. He'd go last in the draft, but he'd be a great pick up.

In the center, we'd have a playmaking superstar whose only job it is, is to give Fred VS the puck. His name would be Assist King. It's simple and efficient. He'd go in the top of the draft as everyone wants an Assist King.

On defense, we'd have Pass McShot. He'd be amazing at faking shots into passes that would be conveniently tipped in by Von Schnicktenberg. Goals for Fred.

And finally a goalie. He'd be a save machine and a long passer. Who doesn't want breakaway assists? His name would be Last Man. IDK. I've lost all steam here.

Hotdog as a GM and a co general manager is a pretty good choice in my opinion. Getting me in free agency through mysterious circumstances was great for the team. A free 1900-2000 player? Who wouldn't take that. Dub. The trade he made for goldenglutes for him to become the co general manager was also strong. The trade he made for gabriel johnson was an easy win. Just kidding, my memory is flawed that was also a free agent signing. Basically what happened is @hotdog saw the Hamilton steelcocks doing well. Super duper well, and slowly but surely tried to replicate that by just signing all of their players. Me, glutes, grabriel, the fake jss, i'm sure theres a couple others. Did it work? Did we succeed? Hell no lol. Fear not, worried reader. as that is still alright. We still got 2 seasons with me left on the team. Potentially more (I know hotdog will read this because I tagged him so I will guilt him publicly) If he doesn't sign me i'm gonna become GM of another team and poach all his players.

There are a lot of "could-have-been" draft picks in the SHL, but let's have some fun thinking about someone that busted hard. Write about their potential and where they were picked, and how that franchise could look *if* they had in fact panned out.

If gordie boom had not gone IA over some dumb SHL awards bs and had gone past the 1000 TPE he stopped at, and ideally even hit 2k with me and glutes, it is possible that the New England Wolfpack would have won a cup. Definitely not the one in S49 where we got pwned but Edmonton, but maybe the finals we were in after that. Anyway, gordie and flareon (the latter, who I do not consider a bust, by the way) were both picked above me and above glutes in S46. (By the way I was selected 37th overall and 3 years later am 4th in my draft class so smd). Back to the point, they were selected (also by new england) earlier than us, but we performed better. Imagine if we had 4 2k players from the same draft class. Holy hell, it is truly a shame we never won together. Also Buffalo drafted Johnny Sins who was just awful, but they still performed pretty well since them so oh well.

2. Written, 3 TPE, GM stands for Great Man (150 words min.)
I think that I thought that almost every GM is good until I actually got one. I had good GM in my first seasons back with Halifax Raiders. I had decent one back then with Calgary Dragons too. My new player had only four GM's though. Old Colorado Raptors GM was just terrible and I'm sorry to bring that up once again. New GM (Lord Birdman) is very good and I was happy to work with him. After SMJHL, I joined SHL. I played for Buffalo Stampede and GM was okay. He didn't ask anything a lot or doesn't communicate, but he was decent, I guess. But when I arrived in Calgary... I just understood what actually a good GM is. Izzy! Izzy cared from the beginning and he still does. He communicates a lot, checks up on you, motivates you and tries to understand your point of you aswell. He is a great GM and I think every single GM should look up to him. Only subjective opinion, but that's what I think for sure!

I think that I have been very straight before with how I think things look in this league. People might not like it, but I will be like that again. I think there are many issues and multiple wrong rule changes in this league. Unfortunately, nothing can be fixed here, but who cares. However, one of the biggest mistakes are sim engine change from STHS to some random game which is powered by Steam. You can name it as a rule, because it changed so damn much in this league. People might say that I just don't like changes, but it's not how it is. I liked how forum changed, Discord and a lot of other new things, but this is just a chaos and a useless rule change. You don't have to fix things which isn't broken, you know? Some other mentionable bad rule changes: limits for skaters upgrading different attributes, new regression update and others. This league, unfortunately, is going downhill and people are too scared to acknowledge that.

I expected Renegades and Steelhawks making Finals already before Play-Offs started. It wasn't a surprise for me that they are fighting for a cup. I think that a lot of users thought that Steelhawks will bring it once again home, but I kinda felt that Renegades might win it. I even picked them as a Challenge Cup winners when I did Play-Offs Brackets and Finals Predictions. Of course, it was an interesting Finals series. It was a 7 game series and it definitely was interesting. It was obvious that these two teams are fighting for a cup, but it was definitely an interesting fight. Maybe even a future rivalry which might continue later on. Who knows...

15. Written, 2 TPE, The yearly IIHF task (100 words min.)
I will talk about IIHF, because WJC isn't that interesting for me. It's more for new and SMJHL players. Last few seasons, we have seen pretty basic TOP 4 - Canada, United States, Great Britain and Japan. I think it still will be pretty close to that. Canada and United States will be definitely at the top. Hard to say about other two countries, because they aren't that strong anymore. My player is from Finland and we got bronze medal last IIHF. I hope that it will continue like that. We are a strong team and we might bring home another medal. However, I hope it will be a bit better than bronze medal. Let's go Finland!

18. Written, 3 TPE, Apocalypse Now (150 words min.)
It's not about parity. Renegades and Steelhawks just knows how to manage their teams well. They are very smart and working good to keep their teams together. So I can only congratulate them. Well done! However, I would definitely create a full line of one team since I can create 5 players. I already have a defender with a bit over 1900 TPE - Aumy Jr. I would create for more Finnish players:
Left wing forward - Aumy Jr. II
Right wing forward - Marian Coodes
Center forward - Marcel Coodes
Second defender - Aumy Jr. III
I think it would be interesting to see multiple Aumy Jr.'s plus two players with my favourite names and cool second names. I wouldn't create a goalie though, because I think it's pretty uninteresting to watch it perform. I would even hope that all players ends up on a one team. I think that this team would be pretty unstopabble if I would train them hard. Unfortunately, I wouldn't do that because of new regression scale, so who cares. Apocalypse has already started anyway here.

Trivia 3 TPE:
Hi

2. Written, 3 TPE, GM stands for Great Man (150 words min.)
Of course, I’m part of buffalo, so nothing is better than some circle jerking to my own team like everyone on this website seems to think we do. I’ll thus be a homer and praise my good friend Tomen in the amazing GMing he’s doing in Buffalo. I don’t think the team would be what it is right now if it wasn’t of our German robot that got hit by a bus 3 years ago. He’s part of the core of the team and a joy to have around. He’s also an excellent general manager and can strike some mean deal for the team, making us in one of the perpetual power house the website has seen since the switch to franchise hockey manager. No one else could get us some first everyone seasons like he does and his planning for the budget is perfect. Oh, and I guess thanks lee too.

I'm honestly very happy that Texas won the cup this season, just because, you know, no one really like Hamilton due to their cheese strategies both in the past and present. I don’t think of any other team that made this website as displeasing as it is right now, except maybe ho themselves. So, Texas deserves their cup more than anything else this season. They also had a lot more tpe than any other team so I’m glad they managed to get something going and exit the Steelhawks and win the cup. I would have liked that it would be in a more convincing way, but in 7 games, I’ll still take it.

I mean, if I had to relive S61, I would probably really enjoy the shit out of it, since I could definitively get more TPE than I have right now. I’d warn everyone about the regression changes incoming in the next offseason so everyone could be prepared, and we would complain so much to head office ahead of time that I don’t think they would even go through with it, though, obtuse as they are, they would probably still do it anyway and tell us to go see somewhere else if we can. I’d warn everyone of who’s retiring when and I’d try to streak some deals ahead of time in the smjhl so I could get some good draftee in the season. Though I would 100% still draft Leoben to Quebec City again in the following offseason. Lastly, I would help everyone win their casino bet so we might finally see the casino go away.
