Player Prompt
The biggest rule I have is that you don't skip leg day. Getting power and flexion from your lower core is the key to being a great hockey player. Having that deep knee bend allows you to be a dynamic skater and being able to explode through your hips is great for shooting and pivoting. I spend at least 1 hour a day doing squats, lunges and thrusts; I will even do these between reps on other equipment and cardio exercises to simulate game scenarios. Cardio is another big one for me, I like to be able to play the whole game if needed and I want to be effective in those minutes. Even during my downtime I am riding the bike or pounding on the treadmill with the incline; I have all these machines in front of a nice television. Then you gotta be building that upper body strength so you can really punish the other team with your strength. Just ripping skull crashers, advanced kettlebell windmills and Swiss ball jackknives, buddy. ![]() Registered Posting Freak Quote:Written Task: Your player has been asked to make a workout tape! Tell me about the exercises your player will show off to get their SHL pro body! What vibe will you go for in the videos? Is it serious? Is it funny? Are you all in on a huge budget? How do you want to release it? Are you starting a fitness Youtube channel, or maybe releasing it on VHS for the retro audience? Tell me all about how your player would tackle selling their own fitness program. Don't be afraid to get goofy with this one. (150+ words) I'm gonna go the route of Lee Carvalho's Putting Challenge, but educational. A 16 bit video game which you play along to while exercising, to prove that fitness can be not just rewarding, but fun, too. Only playable on the SNES, Adam Barron's Bizarre Aerobics Bash is there for you when you feel like you can't get your ass off the couch. Using the state of the art new wireless SNES madcat fitness controller, as well as (sold separately) VR headset, you can run through town listening to the chiptune versions of some of your favorite workout songs like: "Whoomp! There it is" by Tag Team, "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)" by C&C Music Factory, and the all-time classic "Pump Up the Jam" by Technotronic. Warning: any injuries incurred while running on busy streets with a VR headset on and overly loud music blaring in your ears are not the fault of Adam Barron or anyone else at Barron Fitness Enterprises. ![]() Registered Posting Freak
Prompt 1
Picture this, if you can. Perhaps you are an adult, perhaps you are a child, either way it is of no consequence. You travel to your local outdoor sporting area, complete with things like a driving range, mini-golf course, and other assorted paraphernalia that you will need for any one of your sporting hobbies. Over the usual din of clubs hitting balls, you hear the sounds of music and someone shouting encouragement. You travel through the park until you find a crowd of people and cameras all set up around a batting cage. Likely it is someone practicing their swing, maybe even someone famous or a local celebrity. But you do not hear the tell-tale sound of a bat striking a ball. Instead, all you hear is a thump and slight grown of pain. You make your way through the crowd until you spot a pasty man in a black and purple cap, featuring a logo of some sort of ghost or spirit. To your amazement, instead of practicing his swing, he's just taking straight shots to his chest from the automated machine. Congratulations, you are witnessing the patented Jon St. Ark 'How to be Tuff and Stop Stuff' method. ![]() ![]() Registered bae
Liam Slate of the Seattle Argonauts fitness regime looks pretty abnormal. Liam Slate of the Seattle Argonauts Starts his fitness plan with a big bowl of ketchup noodles. This keeps his body energized for the gym and it is also tasty. In terms of the actual regime is consists of a lot of walking. Liam Slate does walk and run sprints for 30 minutes a day. Liam Slate is a speedy player so having good speed in terms of footwork helps a lot this is why Liam Slate of the Seattle Argonauts has also focus a lot on his cardio. As a more veteran player in his peak right now Liam Slate of the Seattle Argonauts has learned that being consistent off the ice in terms of training eventually pays off. Players who become lazy off the ice are players who tend to crash and burn as the seasons go on. Liam Slate of the Seattle Argonauts has been keeping consistent off the ice which this season has finally worked out in his favor.

Dangle has a very strict fitness routine and diet. The Buffalo Stampede has one of the best in Chimkin Wing to help with their routine. Before coming to the SHL Dangle thought he had it all figured out. Wing has taught all about how important leg day is. While the upper body is important, most players skip or don't work legs as long as they should. If you look at Wing, he has tree trunks for legs and is impossible to move in front of the net. It has really helped to really set screens in Buffalo. When Dangle rotates low he is like a brick wall in front of the net. Defenders really struggle to move him now and a lot of that is thanks to Wing. Other very important activities are laps in the teams Olympic sized pool and burpees. Dangle personally hates burpees but, you do what you need to in order to be the best.

Player Prompt:
For Joans, to stay fit and competitive in the league, he needs to focus on being quick and fast on his feet. He is one of the smaller players in the league and his strengths are definitely his agility and quickness, which means Joans has to do a lot of leg day, which kinda sucks cuz he hates leg day but he has gotten used to it. Gotta build up lots of strength and explosive power in those thighs and glutes so that he can speed by players and stay on his feet when the bigger guys come to try to push him off the puck. His balance and stability is also something that he has to work on so that he can stay on his feet and fight of checks from other players. I think the most important thing for Joans to work out though is his mind, as he spends a lot of time watching game film and figuring out how to make himself a better player and how to better react to plays going on around him. Hockey IQ is key. ![]() Registered The Two-Time Two-Time Quote: What does your players fitness regimen look like and why? What's your player's play style, and how do you support that with your off-ice routine? If you're a net front person, for example, are you big into upper body work for shoving people around? Or maybe lower body so you can plant yourself and not be moved. If you're an older player in the league, maybe talk about what you do to stay competitive with all the young folks. What secrets have you learned over the years? If you're a younger player, do you have any veteran friends that share these secrets with you? (150+ words) Aleksi Kettu has one of the most intense workout regimens on the Carolina Kraken, if not the most intense. Kettu has made his name known as one of the league's premier net-front presences, so it goes without saying that Kettu has spent the majority of his time in the weight room when he isn't on the ice. Deadlifts, chest presses, leg presses, curls, you name it. Improving both upper and lower body strength has been a primary focus of Kettu since his draft day. Of course Kettu has spent a good amount of time on the elliptical and working both on cardio and improving his endurance, but that isn't much different than what the rest of the league does in their own workout regimens. When not in the weight room, Kettu spends time on the ice with one of the Kraken trainers working both to improve his balance on his skates as well as his ability to tip shots from in front of the net. ![]() Trading Card Team Posting Freak ![]() Registered Posting Freak
CREATIVE PROMPT
Walton Stromberg is going to target the workout videos for youngsters (fellow kids), and therefore they will only be posted on TikTok. The business model is that the videos are all paid promotion, and are sponsored by workout gear businesses or some other businesses that use product placement on the videos. There will be a wide variety of workouts. Some are things you do at the gym, some are on-ice practice, some are stuff you do at home without any equipment and some are outdoor stuff. The catch is that all videos are built based on trending audio clips and songs. Walton might be lipsyncing while he does the workout and there might be other people present too. It could even be a group of guys dancing on the ice to the tune of a trending hiphop track, whatever is the hottest shit at the moment. Walton has hired a person to plan the videos and make the promotion deals, and the production value will be through the roof. Get ready, TikTokkers! ![]() Registered Senior Member Code: Player Prompt ![]() ![]() SHL Awards Committee Posting Freak |
