S67 PT #5: A Nice Big Bonus Cheque Due: October 23rd @ 11:59 PM (PST)

I will be buying seven hundred and fifty thousand dollars worth of sports cards. Could I invest in the stock market? buy some real estate? yes. Do I want to do that? No. I will be buying A Tom Brady Contenders rookie autograph, as much mac jones stuff as I can find. The whole gambit. Maybe some wax boxes too just to mess around and see if I can win big. That is just so much money in sports cards holy canoli. Please give me that 750k please please i need it now NOW please 750k wow I love that. Maybe I get some hockey stuff too but upper deck makes like 2 products a year so everything is a trillion dollars. Did you know a Pastrnak rookie autograph goes for as much as a Bryce Harper rookie autograph? What the hell. Make more stuff upper deck I can't even get Bruins stuff cause it doesn't exist. So that is what I will do epic stuff from me good idea.

Once given my big bonus firstly I got to pull the big Evander Kane move and place some bets on the league with my money while I’m also doing this I plan to invest a small sum of it into a crypto currency that one day will hopefully make me even more money, while many choose to buy fancy items for me i will try and make more money off this bonus, while I will also  then spend some of my well earned bonus to get my dream car a BMW i8 to really make it seem like I’m a fancy player, when it comes to material things it was a no brainer to get a car that I wanted for a long time, while I find myself with some extra money laying around it could be nice to upgrade my living arrangement now that I also have a steady flowing contract pulling me in assets it was a great opportunity to then gain my own house in Edmonton but also have a condo in Yukon where my roots are.

Player Prompt:

Ethan Duncan will be looking for a new contract this upcoming offseason. As the best defenseman in points not on the Atlanta Inferno, Duncan will be looking to continue this as he ages and will want to shore up his contract with a nice $500,000 bonus for hitting 50 points once more and also another $500,000 bonus on top of that for getting nominated for a Scott Stevens Award. $1,000,000 if he wins it. Duncan feels that he has what it takes to get one last stellar offensive performance before age finally becomes a real factor for the veteran defender, who will be entering his 13th season in the SHL. Duncan would definitely avoid talking about his advanced stats compared to his teammates since he ended up being the worst one on the team in that aspect. He also does not have great defensive stats overall and is considered to be very average there so that may give GMs pause when it comes to bonuses. All in all, Duncan is looking for one last big payday before he retires.

Written Task: Looking at your stats and achievements this season, what kind of bonuses are you going to try and negotiate for and why? What did you excel at, and how do you convince the GM that you're the best one to bring it to the table? What did you struggle with this season, and how do you make sure it doesn't come up in negotiations? (150+ words)

Normally you would think that bonuses for being better than others or just good in general at something, even excelling you could say, but Paul Koivu actually deserves a bonus for being worse than last year. Paul had a break out season last season, reaching 63 points in his second year in the league. But this season he went down a little in points, with only 58. But the really bad thing is that his teammate Makrus The Tater Jager absolutely eclipsed Paul with 88 points, 30 points more than Paul, in the same amount of games and on the same line. Paul would like a bonus to put that money towards training harder and with a better personal coach, because there is really no excuse for Paul to be that behind, while he's been on the ice for roughly the same time. Paul is certain that the general manager would understand that to reach his full potential, Paul might need more resources to really reach his peak.

With the season that I put together, I better be on the receiving end of those end of season bonuses. The aspect that I excelled at this season was my work in the faceoff circle. Boasting a win percentage over 60, it was clear that I was one of the best players to step up in the circle. With that prowess, I naturally was thrown out there during penalty killing situations to keep the puck in our possession. The defensive side of the puck was my jam this season. I lead the league in shots blocked by a forward while dedicating over 2 minutes of ice time to the penalty kill. I simply was one of the best defensive forwards to take the ice and management needs to recognize it. If it have to win an award to get what I am owed then so be it. I sure hope there are people taking notes and seeing just how great I was defensively as a forward. (166)

yeah so tommy westbrook (but this time i upd loves money right and he definitely will not be donating it because he likes spending his cash on things that he enjoys such as nice luxaries, like cars, and restaurnt food and sometimes when hes feeling a little fancy he will go out and buy a big pizza for his freinds. but today we are talking about his big end of season bonus which comes out too a whopping 750k dollars. am i seeing that right? wow that is a lot of cold hard money lets see what he spends it on. first thing first is he opens up a larch pig farm that has big pig pen for all the pigs to play in the mud. he'd open up a little pig petting zoo and people would come in pay some tickets and pet some pigs. good little passive income for tommy.

If Jolmi Koivu, right wing for the Simulation Hockey League team Hamilton Steelhawks, got an on ice performance bonus of 750,000 dollars he would not know what to do with it. First of all, he would be very shocked and grateful that he has the opportunity to make this much money as a bonus on top of his regular pay. His first purchase would have to be a new car, something that is affordable, efficient on gas, smooth to drive, and is most importantly a cool car. The car he would buy is a 2010 toyota corolla, specifically one that is silver because only cool guys drive those cars and they are really reliable and get good gas mileage too. The second thing he would do is buy a brand new rolex watch for his goalies on the Colorado Raptor, because he thinks they do a really good job and wants them to be able to know the time whenever and wherever they are. Lastly, he would buy a house because he needs somewhere to live.

Written Task: What do you do with you $750k end-of-season bonus? Buy stuff? Like a fancy new car or an indoor pool? Donate it? What kind of charity would you be looking for? Does your player have their own foundation? If so what does it do? Tell me what you plan to do with the money! (150+ words)

Aksel donated part of his regular pay to foundations and charities, so he's going to go ahead and be a little selfish and spend this money on himself. His main residence has been an apartment in the city that a retired team member sold to him for cheaper than it would have been otherwise, but Aksel would love to get out of the city on the weekends and in the offseason, and renting houses is getting old. So that bonus is enough to get a house upstate. He searches along the Amtrack line and hires a realtor to help him find something in a country area, where he could have acreage and maybe some chickens, and if there's any kind of Scandinavian stuff in the area? HUGE plus. They find a fixer-upper in the woods with a gravel driveway up a hill, gorgeous hills but difficult in the winter. Aksel doesn't mind - can't wait to make it a second home.

A $750k performance bonus would be sick! The first thing I would do is work with team ticketing personnel to buy out sections of seats for students at local schools, as giving back is very important to me. Secondly, a charity donation fits the bill here. The Freedom From Religion Foundation is based in Madison, WI and is focused on countering the theocratic garbage that some members of our society feel should be engrained in our public and government institutions. The seperation of church and state is important to me as a recovering Catholic, and I'm happy to use a good chunk of this money to allow organizations like FFRF to keep fighting the good fight against the religious takeover of our public spaces. Lastly, I'm buying dinner for my teammates when we head downtown and tear it up after a big dub. With playoffs going well, hopefully that's a celebration after winning the Challenge Cup, but we'd settle for getting there first Smile

The only thing I am doing with an extra seven hundred and fifty thousand big ones entering my account are saving them. Here I am, Dick Clapper, on the absolute last edges of my career. One MAYBE two, hopefully three more seasons left in my career. Have not written media easily in 10 seasons, no income coming in except for the occasional twitter post and my league minimum contracts that would be lower if it were allowed, I NEED this extra money. I will be saving it directly for one weeks worth of training, because over the course of an entire season, an extra seven fifty k is not even enough for ones weeks worth of training. Crazy. Maybe I do need to start doing media again, or maybe @hotdog will finally do a podcast with me, which is my contractual right, which he a full year later has not done, @HO arrest this guy, make him lose a pick or smth.

When you've been in the SHL for over a decade, its really cool to get a bonus 750,000 dollars, but in reality, you don't need it. You've more than made some sweet cash in your career, like Xavier Doom has. And since he's older, he's already bought a ton of cool stuff. Fish tanks, California King Sized bed, sweet house, a few awesome cars, and whatever other things had caught his eye along the way. He even has sent money back to Iceland to help the youth hockey programs there. The next thing Xavier Doom wants to spend his money on is to finance an indoor dog park, called Barktopia. It'll be huge, and multi-leveled. It'll be a great place to bring your dog when its too hot or cold outside. Plus, there's a bar! Donating that bonus money to make this dream come true that will help the community (and get Doom unlimited access to a bunch of cool dogs to play with) is a pretty smart move. (179)

Nikolai was very excited to see the bonus check hit his bank account. He has been planning on taking a trip back home to Denmark during the off-season, and this makes planning out the trip very easily. it has been a couple seasons since Nikolai has visited home and he is excited to go back. He is also planning on making some improvements to his house. Like most people, Nikolai has always wanted a hot tub, and now he gets to live out that dream. Maybe a sauna too, but that might be a later on thing after he gets settled down in Buffalo. He tried one out while playing a game in Finland and loved it. He thinks that everyone should try it out once in their life, and he is determined to bring that experience to his teammates. Besides that, it’s probably gonna be some boring savings and investments.

CREATIVE PROMPT

Jonathon Hagan would take his Montreal Patriotes performance bonus and blow it all on various partying, drinking, and other activities that are related to drinking and partying. First, he would probably buy an expensive boat, since he needs one for day drinking at the lake during the off season. Second, he would make sure to load that boat up with all of the various party items he needs, including beer, liquor, and that sort of things. Moving from the water to the land, he would also treat himself to a fun off season trip to some place fun, probably a place like Cabo or Vegas, where he could really get his partying side on. Nothing says fun like blowing a massive bonus check on a casino floor in Vegas, right? If there were any remaining money from these trips, purchases, and overall general debauchery from Jonathan Hagan, then he would probably spend it on a fun night of a pro baseball game or something

Player Prompt

It was another rough year for the Monarchs and goaltender Enes Gundogan but there are plenty of reasons why a potential bonus should be coming to the young Turkish-Austrian goalie. For the 3rd straight season, Enes has been barraged by shots and has led in saves the last two seasons and for all three professional seasons, he has been at least in the top 2 in that stat which means shots are coming and coming hard and while some of course will squeak through, he is saving a ton of shots on a daily/nightly basis. He has been the ultimate team player through the streak and while it may truly cost him a chance at greatness overall or a hall of fame bid, he still stands tall for his Monarchs. His overall game rating and save percentage were okay and nothing special but considering the abuse he is taking it is still solid. The goals against average are down from previous seasons and he managed to have 2 shut outs on the season. There is no reason why the still somewhat young goalie would not deserve a bonus of any amount!
