Hello everyone of the SMJHL! My name is soevil and this is my first ever media post here. I think I read that noobs like me get a 2x on their first media so I’d like to claim that - but if I made that up feel free to disregard. 

A little background about me: I have been a member of the ISFL for just over a year now. It was my first ever sim league and it was nothing like I expected it would be, but I love it regardless. This will be my second and probably last sim league - I know the basics about hockey but I’d never consider myself a fan, but the alternative sim league is the PBE and the only thing I can think of that would be worse than following actual baseball would be following simulated baseball. This first media post is going to be, well, dumb and ridiculous - but that’s okay! Here’s the premise: I know nothing about the SMJHL - not a single team mascot or location a so I thought it would be fun to glance at the index and take a guess at the team based on the logo and 3 letter abbreviation just to see how close I can get. I’m also going to give them a ranking for how much I like the guessed teams. Anyway, here we go!

1. Metropolis Axemen - I’m not actually sure Metropolis is a real place, but I’m also not sure how much that matters. The logo is pretty plain, just some crossed hatchets (axes) with an “M” on a stump it looks like. Colors are pretty boring but fitting, appearing to be brown and black. 5/10
   
2. Colorado Raptors - Okay, I can somewhat get behind the blue Raptor logo. Colorado is probably a staple location for any hockey team since it’s sort of like Deep South Canada. Looks like there is a yellow outline so personally I’m not down with the color scheme (Go Buckeyes) but otherwise it seems like a solid team. 6/10
   
3. Netherlands…..I dunno, Shamans? - This one is tough. Not only is it only a 2 letter abbreviation, but the logo and mascot are somewhat unclear. It’s obvious it’s a man wearing a wolfskin hood/cloak, but I’m not sure what name that would belong to. I’d thought druids at first, but the guy looks too mean to be a Druid. Colors look to be grey, red, and white. I’m not sold on these fellows. 4/10
   
4. Nevada Battleborn - Easy Peasy. The name and location are right there on the logo. It is a pretty mean lookin’ ram, but it all seems too close to the NCAA’s Colorado State Rams. 5/10 
   
5. Golden Forest Grizzlies - Okay, this one is pretty interesting. First of all, that bear looks awesome. I really am not sure Golfen Forest is the correct location for this team, but it just rolls off the tongue, and Grizzly Bears live in forests so it just makes too much sense. Color scheme is probably brown and some other plain color, but there isn’t much you can do to make a Grizzly pop. 7/10
   
6. This can’t be the Detroit Redwings, right? That’s a real team. Maybe it’s the… Detroit RedHawks? - Regardless, I hate this one. It just doesn’t seem fun. It has no flair, no pulse to it. The logo is just blastin’ me in the face with red and if the team really is based out of Detroit and is something remotely similar to red-something’s, I think it just lacks creativity. 1/10
   
7. Vancouver Whalers - Hey! Another easy one. I don’t have a ton to say about this one, unfortunately. The color scheme is nice being green and blue, but honestly I don’t think I love the idea of whalers. 5/10
   
8. Yuma Huskies - This one isn’t too bad. I like the logo except for I think it’s just a little too.. round in the face? It’s like this Huskie had one too many Beggin’ Strips if you know what I mean. Yuma is an odd place for a hockey team in my opinion but hey, I think any geographic location should be able to have a team if they can support one. I think the red and white look really good together too. Overall I like this team. 7/10
   
9. Kellington Knights - I’m not really sure the location is right for this - if Kellington is a real place at all, really - but I’m nearly certain they are the Knights. Pretty standard “knight” color scheme with gold and black. Nothing too special here. 5/10
   
10. Carolina Kraken - Awesome! I think this branding is great. Orange is an interesting color for a Kraken, but I’m here for it. If they have an alternate logo and it’s Great Cthulhu I’d be in love with this team. 8/10
    
11. …Regular… Elk Gang - Just some regular Elks. Lmao. I’m not really sure, but when that name came to me it made me laugh so here we are. 3/10
    
12. Queen City cOwls - The logo is pretty clean, I like it a lot. I’m not sure why they need the silent “c” in front of Owls but maybe there is some history that I’m missing here. 7/10
    
13. Anchorage Armada - Even though there’s only a single warship as the logo and an Armada is akin to a fleet, I can’t let the alteration potential go. Powder blue and grey are also a neat color combo. 7/10 
    
14. St. Louis Scarecrows - Okay this one is actually my favorite. The logo is spooky and it all seems so obvious. 10/10 chefs kiss to whoever came up with this branding.
