1. Trivia: Boppo
13. Wow, what a series! I am excited that the Aurora broke the curse and finally got to life the cup on their fourth go around. I don’t know if they could have ever lived down the Bills of the SHL moniker have they not pulled it off. I am especially ecstatic for Sburbine as he has been waiting for this moment for a while now. He helped in my quest to win a cup for the Berserkers so it’s nice to see him have a player involved in a cup celebration as well. Congratulations to everybody on the Winnipeg squad, but now that I am in the SHL you better watch for TBB.. My desire for the cup is insensible.

Player Progression Director be nice to me it's the law
1) barn
2a) I would love to see the Wolfpack take it, I played 4 seasons with those people and they're all lovely. Fortunately we raised a cup together 3 seasons back, so I know they have the instinct to do it. Sadly, with the gift of hindsight, I can see that they didn't get it done. Fair play to Winnipeg though, they've had a lot of kicks at the can and they've finally made it over the line! 2b) NEW doesn't have me this time, and that's all the difference the Aurora need to finish the job. Many people are saying that NEW is missing that sub 1k TPE ancient player on the brink of retirement that has a lot of cups to his name. Simply put, that was me, and without that they're going to have a tough time pulling off another win against WPG. 10) I would love to say that Germany could pull off an upset again. A few seasons back we were lucky enough to pull off a surprise win against SWE in the finals which was a career highlight for me. We've always been one of those teams on the cusp, with a few bronze medals back in the S60's, but in the last 5 or so seasons we got a bit of a youth injection. That plus a stabilization in management has brought new life into a team that has had moments on shakey ground. As the youth get better and some of the older guys like me keep fighting regression I think we have a chance. That being said, my time may be up soon, so if we had a good run this year it'd mean a lot for sure. Who knows how many more runs I have in me? I know, but I'm not going to tell you. Sorry. TPE: 8/8

For the Aurora, the team itself; it takes a major effort to assemble a team that good, and everyone is firing on all cylinders at just the right time. For the Wolfpack, it's the fact that they were able to beat the Forge, who have effectively established themselves as a top team in the east. (55 Words) b. For the Aurora, it's to get out of their own heads. Losing 3 straight finals appearances takes its toll eventually, but it needs to be kept in check. This is especially true since they are playing a rematch; while the players may not all be the same, it's the fight against the identity that counts. (55 Words) c. It's a tough call; both teams beat their 3rd place conference counterparts right after taking on and winning against their conference 2nd place. If I had to give an edge, it would be Winnipeg; them, the Syndicate, and the Blizzard were all basically neck and neck, and fighting against 2 similar opponents as an even matchup, and winning that, is more impressive. (62 Words) Code: 12. Written, 2 TPE - The Procrastinator Special! (100 words min.) So, the Winnipeg Aurora have finally won the cup after almost pulling a Buffalo Bills and losing consecutive Challenge Cup appearances. It was a long time coming, but it felt inevitable that it would happen. This time around, they won in 5 games and happened to outscore them 24-16. While this averages out to 5-3 games, they completely dominated games 3 - 4 with back-to-back blowouts, which was my personal favorite part about the series since it's rare to have such a feat. New England simply was too young against this team, with Winnipeg having significantly better depth everywhere: they simply need more experience. (103 Words)

Written, 3 TPE, Peggy's Back, Tell a Friend (150 words min.) Honestly I think most of Winnipeg's "Western Dominance" as it were comes down to two things - teams grossly undervaluing their own cap. Teams have been freely trading cap to Winnipeg, which cudos to them for taking advantage when opportunity arises. People say a cliff is imminent for Winnipeg, and if that's true I'm glad they were able to win one during their peak. The second part is a dirt poor western conference for competition. Winnipeg has essentially had a free ride to the finals for the last calendar year. You would think eventually their rotten luck would turn and they would get successful for a change. Let me expand, mostly because I need more words. Teams in the west have collectively decided to tank and rebuild. These are the teams trading away cap and high TPE players in search of youth and draft picks. Chances are they undersold their assets, and the good teams will remain good, and continue enough of a pipeline to stay relevant, but let's watch this play out. Code: 172 Words Procrastinators
Code: 12. Written, 2 TPE - The Procrastinator Special! (100 words min.) Winnipeg won! Yes, that's right and not a typo. Congrats to the Aurora, seriously, they have toiled and come up short too many times. They finally pulled together and put together the solid performance that they needed. They remind me of a good HBO story, where the young team needs to experience adversary together to grow stronger, overcome it to finally lift that trophy. Defeat their metaphorical white whale. I think New England had to try and run their series, not counter Winnipeg which I think is what was happening. Too many times recently has Winnipeg been defeated by being countered, eventually they grew solid enough that a direct counter was still playing into their game, letting them dictate the flow. You can never take success for granted, but these are two of the league's heavy favorites coming into the cup finals. Pick either of our finalists, and tell me what about them impresses you the most! c. The Aurora defeated the Blizzard in their conference final, and the Wolfpack sank the Forge. Who had the more impressive victory to punch their ticket to the cup final, and why? a. I will always have to lean towards Winnipeg being the most impressive team in the finals until they no longer make the finals. They have been consistently one of the top teams in the league for like five seasons now and show no signs of slowing down. They're terrifying to play in a way no other team can manage and that alone means they come across as more impressive. (69 words) c. I fully believe the Aurora sinking the Blizzard was more impressive. Not only were the Blizzard the more impressive team in the regular season being 4th in the league, the Aurora did it coming off a very impressive win over the third best team in the league as well. The Aurora's path to these finals has been insanely difficult and there have been no signs of chinks in their armor. (70 words) 3. Written, 3 TPE, Peggy's Back, Tell a Friend (150 words min.) Winnipeg is a cup finalist for an astonishing fourth year in a row! To make that happen in the current era of the SHL requires serious skill and deserves appreciation. What is it that makes this Aurora era so successful? What have been the most crucial factors in their Western dominance? What lessons should the rest of the league learn from their success? The key to Winnipeg's competitive success has been an absolutely smashing amount of success in both the draft and free agency early on. Their general manager Ace entered this team with a plan and his immediate goal was to collect the best possible humans available and bring them to this team to attract others. Jess, JURT, and Fluw are some players that immediately come to mind and while some of them have retired at this point, as they've continued on this path of success they've only added more and more of these people who just attract other users to them. They are some of the best people in all of sim leagues and that draws a sense of loyalty you just don't get on a ton of teams. It makes people want to be there and to be a part of what they're building. it makes people want to earn, to contribute, and to do their best to make the team a success and it has obviously worked. I've been personally very impressed with how Ace has built the team and I think Winnipeg will continue to find success for as long as Ace continues this philosophy and the team seems like an appealing place to call home. (3) 3. i think that a big key to success for the Winnipeg Aurora over the past handful of seasons has been their work ethic. just take a look at their roster page and youll see they have an insane amount of players that have put in the work to become really highly skilled. there are 9 different players who currently sit at 1800 tpe or better. when you time that sort of thing the right way youre just setting yourself up for success. Lord Farquaads, Lias Ekholm-Gunnarsson, Jay O'Neil, Spack Jarrow, Mikko Rashford, Rebecca Montagne, Christian Kinsinger, Max Manning, and Marcel Beck are all names every SHL player, staff member, and fan alike should know. with all the playoff appearances this team has had its easy to see the two main keys a team should be focusing on is having a strong work ethic and timing your players’ peaks to line up at a similar time. [155 words] (3+3=6) 12. the Winnipeg Aurora came out of the s72 playoffs bringing home the Challenge Cup. the strength of the Aurora’s roster proved to be too much for New England as they ended up dropping 4 games to Winnipeg in just a 5 game series. while the Wolfpack’s roster is nothing the scoff at, they just dont have the number of high skilled players that the Aurora do and it would have taken some serious strategical magic to put up more of a fight. you might even be able to call the 1 win in the series an accomplishment when you look into the two rosters. as i pointed out in my last prompt the Aurora have 9 players sitting at 1800 TPE or more while New England only rosters 4, just one being over 1900 TPE. for reference, Winnipeg could out do that 4 with only their 2000+ TPE players. The most important thing is that they have really good former Berserkers on their team in Mikko Rashford, and Jay O'Neil. Everyone knows that the Berserkers go on to be the best in the SHL and that is obviously true, these guys carried the team to 4 finals and a cup out of that. There are probably some other decent players in there but its whatever cuz they don't really move the needle too far. Also everyone was sick of seeing the peg in the finals every time so the pack probably just gave them the W cuz they already got one like a couple seasons ago. You need a little variety yanoe like nobody wanted Hamilton every single season neither. The league should learn that if you want to win the cup all you need to do is make it to the finals a million times and one of those times you will win its not that hard tbh. Code: 12. Written, 2 TPE - The Procrastinator Special! (100 words min.) The windypeg bears finally won after 4 seasons and stopped luke from getting another cup. They were just really unlucky for a long time and sooner or later they were gonna get what they built this team for and here it is. The east was kinda weak maybe but that pack team coulda got the job done again they just didnt have the hunger like they did when they won it 2 seasons ago and sometimes thats all the difference you know. It was a little scary for the peg at the start but I think they knew they would lose their minds going into a 5th finals with no cup so they got it done now.

Fecal impaction 2. A What impresses me most about New England is the sheer number of Dunkin Donuts contained therein. I mean most people enjoy coffee and who doesn't love a good donut, but this is ridiculous. You can't throw a rock in New England without hitting a Dunkin Donuts. Be careful if you try though, as you might hit a cop and get arrested or beaten or beaten then arrested. B If Winnipeg wants to gain some measure of revenge, defeat New England and win a Challenge Cup here in season seventy two the key to doing so is clear. It will require them to win four games before the Wolfpack do so. I know this may sound crazy, but nevertheless I assure you it is true.

maple 3. Written, 3 TPE, Peggy's Back, Tell a Friend (150 words min.) For me, it's all starts at the top. You have to have a general manager who is dedicated to long term success and an active participant not just in the league, but is in touch with everything going on news-wise. One of the main in-game things that helps build that level of consistency is elite level draft scouting and building an active locker room that makes it easy for the players to update. When you continually hit on draft picks, you have a strong foundation for success but you also have to be flexible when it comes to filling gaps with trades, which Winnipeg has also done. Overall, this game is about keeping your players active and building a consistent roster which the Aurora have done at a rate maybe not seen in the last few decades. It's a level of dominant consistency that every team can take a look at when it comes to building their own teams. Being able to score, defend, and have high level goalies for this long is just incredible and a testament to the Winnipeg front office. (183 words) 12. Written, 2 TPE - The Procrastinator Special! (100 words min.) Winnipeg took home the title this season in dominating fashion. I'm honestly not sure what else New England could've done, because they played really well and still only managed to win one game. When you're as good top to bottom as the Aurora are, it's incredibly difficult to beat them in a long series. The second game was probably my favorite moment, because it was coming on the heels of New England taking 1-0 lead and it was a back and forth affair that wasn't decided until overtime. Once the Wolfpack won that game 7-6, they flipped the switch for the rest of the series. In the subsequent three games, they won by an aggregate score of 14-3 and were utterly unstoppable. That's the most impressive thing about the Aurora - if you give them even the smallest gap they will exploit that immediately and with a devastating impact. Two shutouts immediately following that overtime game tells you everything you need to know about the level of hockey they brought to the finals. (172 words) 66 | 11 | 29 | 40 | +34 | 71 | 60
