Quote:4. Written, 3 TPE, It is the draft season (150 words min.)
This season we saw huge changes on how All-Star teams were formed. How do you like the new draft format for all-star teams? Do you think it is good that committee picks the pool from which the players are drafter? Should there be more players from each team on the pool? Are last season cup finalist good picks for selecting the players?
I think I like the new format. If nothing else it at the very least changes things up a bit from the normal. Which is always exciting. The only issue I have at this point about it must be that suddenly it's possible that one or more teams aren't represented at all. And this is a problem because now the All-Star game can be excluded from these locker rooms because they don't care. No one on their team made it, so why would they. We had this happen several times in the past when players from the worse teams were never selected. And that's not fun for those teams or their players. This isn't real life, and while the best players should be represented, we need to also make sure that it's something the entire community cares about and can enjoy. And that's something that can be helped a lot by simply including every team so they have a reason to care.

Quote:10. Written, 3 TPE, Most Offensive Goalie (150 words min.)
The league has multiple awards, yet there is always room for improvement. What award would you add? Why that award and who it would be named after? Or which of the current awards would you change? How would you change it and why?
It's time we give some love to defensive forwards. The Jeff Darr Award (Best Two-Way Forward) is fine and all, but because it mentions "two-way" it still involves an expectation that the forward needs to score a lot of points. That's always the most important requirement. If you're an amazing forward and top of every defensive stat, you're not gonna be considered for the award unless you're also at least in the top-20 in scoring. So I suggest we revamp this award and its requirement to focus solely on defensive stats. Tell the committee and the voters to completely disregards the goals, assists, and points stats. They shouldn't matter. And instead focus on takeaways, blocked shots, and all the fancy stats such as corsi and whatnot. I'd just like to see one more defensively focused award other than the defensive defenseman. Show some love to the users who are okay with not scoring 2PPG. Otherwise we're just gonna end up with everyone being a sniper.

b. Nash Topalo and Seamus O'Slapahan were only defencemen picked in top 10. Were they two best options this season? Should there have been more picked early on?
e. Why should YOUR player have made the all star game, and why should you be the last man in? (If your player did make the all star game, tell us why they were picked.)
B. While both of these defensemen are extremely talented and worthy of the top 10 selection, I'd take my teammate Willow Söderberg-Snooks over them. Snooks was the top defensive scorer on the San Francisco Pride as well as the top defensive scorer in the entire SHL this season and a favorite to win some hardware this award season.
E. It's possible my player could still get in as one of the last players, but it's a bit disappointing I didn't make it in on the original vote. Oskar had his best season of his career thus far and finished 2nd in league scoring. Unfortunately for him the rest of his team was equally deserving with the top producing forward, top producing defenseman and the goalie with the most wins. It was a tough call, but Oskar got the boot as one of San Francisco's all stars. Perhaps he can join them as one of the last players in.

Which of the current players, who were still active during the season 76 has achieved enough that they should make it to the Hall of Fame? Are they already unquestionable first ballot Hall of Famer? Are they still close enough to their prime to make their case better or are they already so far in their career that realistically they are just working on their total career numbers at this point?
There are a number of worthy players that I could see enter the hall as a first ballot hall of famer, but one player in particular I think will garner the most votes is Ivan Lacksamus. This last season he broke through the 1000 point barrier and he was the fastest to do so in league history. In addition to that insane milestone he has 2 Mexico's, Khan's and Karpotsov's (back to back) and 2 Razov nominations and 2 Dar nominations. To top it all off he has been a critical part of 2 challenge cup winning teams (as shown by the Razov nominations). There is nothing missing from his impressive career resume and I have no doubt he'll be a first ballot hall of famer when he eventually retires. Another player that comes to mind is goaltender Brick Wall. The Montreal netminder has 4 Mcbride wins and 1 additional nomination as well as 1 Mexico nomination which is quite rare to see as a goalie. Not to mention his name is absolutely perfect for a goalie.

William Salming is the lone Seattle Argonaut selected in the All-Star Game Draft, who will be representing the last place team in the SHL this season.  William Salming makes his first SHL All-Star game after playing 1188 games and 18 full seasons in the SHL. The Finnish winger has captained Team Finland in the IIHF World Championships for multiple seasons, winning 6 medals and three golds with Team Finland. Salming is one of the few players to have won a Gold Medal in the World Juniors, World Championships, the Four Star Cup in the SMJHL, and the Challenge Cup. Making the All-Star game this season is another accomplishment in his storied career.  Playing his entire career so far with the Argonauts, Salming finished second on the team in points this season with 52. He also hit the 600 assist mark this season and has 878 points in an Argonauts uniform. After dropping to numbers he hasn't seen since his rookie season last 2 seasons when Seattle finished with 7 wins in each, Salming has bounced back in a big way on his quest for 1000 points in the SHL. I like the new format with pools of players being formed by the committee and the cup finalist managers from the previous season picking the teams. It lets a good mix of players play in the game on teams that they may have not played on before. Rather than dividing it by conference it allows players from the West and East to play together and gets some pretty cool combinations that did not exist before. The Derek Martin and Erik Bergmark connection would not have been possible before this format change.  I do think that there should be a minimum of only 1 player selected from each team and keep the same amount of players in the pool as this season. That way teams that have 4 or more All-Star caliber players can have those 4+ players go and they don't lose their spot to a player that was only put in to fill a requirement for a team to hit the minimum number of candidates. OPTION 3.

The Pride were lucky enough to be able to send three to the All Star game and all three were obvious choices.  First is the goal scoring and point leader from this past season, Viktor Hargreeves.  I mean it was a certainty he was going to make the All Star game.  When you lead the league in two of it's most important categories; beyond being a point leader he is a locker room leader, showing the entire team how to be a professional player both on and off the ice.

The second was Willow Soderberg-Snook, our defensive secret weapon that is not much of a secret anymore.  He lead all defensmen in assists and points.  He also finished in the top 10 in many other categories.  Not many people had Soderberg penciled in as a potential Scott Stevens award winner, but he put up the season to be recognized as such.

Finally we have a recent addition to the team, Justin Time.  The long standing Blizzard goalie made the jump last off season via trade to the Pride.  He really helped solidify the crease and adjusted quickly to San Francsico's style of play.  His efforts allowed him to finish with a league high in wins and a top 10 in a number of other categories.

OPTION 9.

WHAT AN INCREDIBLE SEASON! I don't think it could have been any better, start to finish.

My line mates and I really spent a lot of time working on our chemistry in the offseason. We did a ton of training, read the same books, and went to the same restaurants. The results were amazing.

I came out hot and was leading the league in goals and points to start the season. I would cools down a bit, but honestly not much. I put forth the best offensive season of my career. 40 goals, 43 assists! Lead the league in +/-. 5 game winning goals! Just an incredible season.

Than the playoffs came around. I know there were plenty of people concerned I would cool down, but that was not the case 12 goals, 3 of which were game winning. Well over a point per game! And we won the cup! Just an amazing season and I can't wait to build on it for next year.

d. Since Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz and Sir Devoir were chosen with consecutive picks, analyzing the advantage between the two teams requires a closer examination of each starter. Brzęczyszczykiewicz has a track record of consistent performances, and his style will mesh well with a team that minimizes high danger scoring chances. On the other hand, Sir Devoir brings strengths such as quick reflexes, and the ability to make spectacular saves. His ability to steal games by making crucial saves will be a factor. When considering back-up goalies, they often step in during crucial moments, whether due to fatigue, or strategic decisions. If either Grzegorz or Sir Devoir falter, the back-up will play a pivotal role.

e. My player, Savva Kirik, should have made the all-star game because during this past season he defeated the dictator Vladimir Putin,a and took back control of Mother Russia. Yes, it’s true that he did not play in the SHL, and instead the SMJHL, but still… it’s such an epic feat that it warrants the inclusion of him as a special addition. Of course, some might not be too pleased, and there will likely be a need now to up the security wherever Savva is present but still… pretty big deal, I’d say.
