The offseason is a great time to rest and recover from the grueling challenges of the shl season and post season, but it's equally important to know how and when to start getting back into game shape so you can hit the ground running when the next season begins. Cormier enjoys his time off, but never really stops working out even if he admitedly does slow down for a little while. But in the last few weeks leading up to the training camp and pre season, he gets himself back into his regular season workout routine so there isnt a massive adjustment when he regroups with his team. When divisions are as tight as they are in this league, every game matters and losing a big chunk of games in the first quarter of the season can easily be a team's death bed when time comes to push for a playoff spot. Cormier and the wolfpack have had their slow starts in the past and they are doing everything they can to try and not repeat that again this season.

Mikkel is always excited to be the face of the Montreal Franchise moving forward. Having always wanted a Letter at the PRO level - he has always been willing to make what sacrifices necessary to make that happen for his team which drafted him. Now there is always some reason that must be used for this expectation as well. Mikkel offers the team a calender each off season of days he is available for almost any one of these team engagements. Now if a Saudi prince wants Mikkel to appear in an ad, thats obviously a no go - but he will attend the majority of those asked. If the team decides to ask during a blocked week he has previously given - thats on them for expecting him to drop personal events to attend these. There is always some give and take in relationships and even though Mikkel is more than willing to give the majority of the time - the money can wait sometimes on the business side of things as he tries to balance his life.

Unfortunately, last season wasn't very successful for Violet. Her statistics were middling at best despite being a relatively touted prospect, and she was under no consideration for any individual awards, nor was she a significant contributor to team success. In short, she had a miserable failure of a season. This off-season was primarily about refocusing her priorities to be a bit more offensive, as clearly her efforts on the defensive end didn't actually merit much good, nor did her meager offensive skills. Although her defensive skills likely suffered from her lack of focus this off-season, she still remains an overall intelligent player who is generally able to adapt to the offensive and defensive landscape very well; this redistribution was more about obtaining the skills and reaction speed required to put some of those mental skills into action. The game ran slowly enough for her to process it, but her body did not have the requisite practice to put those hours of practice into action. Would she have loved to participate in various vacations and use some of her hard-spent money? Of course -- but she didn't earn it last season. She's simply got to turn it around this time.
Thanks @Amidships!

This would be a tough situation for Ju-gong, who more often than not, spends as much of the off season as possible back in Korea. For as willing to help as the young goalie is, leaving the comforts of his home nation to fly back mid-off season for some promotion would be off the cards. In this case, it would be a very soft rejection while emphasizing the distance and importance of being home. If anything could be done from overseas like a video call, arrangements could easily be made. Outside of being in Korea, Ju-gong is always a sure bet to accept doing PR events and fan meets. Without much else to do in Quebec City, the idea of going on and giving back to the fans is a good time out if anything. To reward the QCC faithful with autographs, pictures, whatever is a great way to give a little back to the fans that pack the stadium and cheer the team on all season long.

Dusty Rhodes basically rests up from his busy off-season schedule of charity wrestling events. His not insubstantial body takes quite a beating and it's been quite a bone of contention with team management. So Dusty takes it easy and starts spending more time in the local establishments to get the fans hyped up for the current season. That involves buying slot of rounds of drinks and of course imbibing said drinks as well. So he will typically show up to camp out off shape and in serious need of conditioning. Fortunately his metabolism rights itself quite quickly and big Dusty is able to get in game shape quite quickly. So management kind of lets Dusty be Dusty and doesn't really give him a whole lot of grief since he always answers the call when the puck is dropped on another season. It is also why the fans love him so much, he's just a common man doing exactly what they all do.

As the offseason comes to an end and training camp is coming soon, Deth Klaw ramps up his strength and conditioning training. It's super easy to get lax on that stuff during the offseason. There are so many relaxing and fun things to do, and many of them include food and/or drink. Many players seem to struggle with moderation of both, but showing up to training camp fat and flabby not only is a bad look for the player, it lets down your teammates and the fans who are expecting you to show up ready to play. You are getting paid a lot of money to do that, after all. Also, training camp sucks a lot less if you don't wait until the last week before it starts to hit the gym again after spending the offseason washing down copious amounts of pizza with copious amounts of beer as well. Klaw keeps up a pretty strict regimen in the gym and does a lot of skating and swimming so he's not huffing and puffing like a fat old man come camp time.

If Marek is in the area, he is always ready to participate in team events and be one of the faces of the Forge franchise. Part of that is due to his role as a young player, (the only rookie joining in S77 is from the same draft class) he is often stuck doing a lot of these types of events just due to seniority. But also, because he is so young, this is still very new to him. He’s always stated that he will never take this life for granted – he’s seen many other paths that people have walked and knows how fortunate he is to have made it this far. It’s out of appreciation for that good fortune and in honor of the hard work that got him here that he willingly participates in as many of these events as possible as long as he’s physically in the area because he’s desperate to get the ‘full SHL experience’ and maximize each and every day he has. 168 Words -----------------------------------------------------

Denebor Milasch had a fairly busy offseason and is looking forward to a little rest before the training camp and preseason open up for the Toronto North Stars. Milasch was part of a late playoff run in his final season with the Carolina Kraken and as soon as that run ended he left for Sweden to join their national teams. Denebor played in both the WJC and the IIHF with Sweden, winning a gold medal in the WJC with his Norden teammates. After that he headed back to Toronto to start getting acclimated to the new city. More less he is just going through his usual training regiment and taking it easy to make sure his body is ready for a long first season with the North Stars. This mostly consists of getting cardio and reflex training in along with ample video study to learn shooters in the SHL and watch for positional and tactic differences at the higher level. Otherwise Denebor is basically trying to find his new common spots in Toronto. Places to get coffee or dinner or interesting activities to do during down time. He plans to be in Toronto for a long time and getting established in the community is a big deal to Denebor.
Thank you @Ragnar for the Sig!

It was a really short and sweet summer holiday for N'Zola since the Los Angeles Panthers squad had a relatively okay postseason run, ended very prematurely by San Francisco, but we move on from that. Being back in business to prepare himself for his best season yet with his mates Georg will be taking it very easy. As of right now it is not beneficial for him at all to put immediate strain on his body, currently his workout consists of making his body the way it has been for the majority of his career, strong and flexible - especially flexible, since his body has been resting more or less during his long wait for next season. N'Zola misses his guys very badly so he might go to Los Angeles before anyone to get a few more workouts in before the other guys get there - then it is pretty much game on again, full speed ahead and whatnot

IStir MyPudding never has and never will pass up on a chance to get in front of the fans and the media as a "face of the franchise." This is not because MyPudding is overly fond of the fans, sports media, or the general public, but because these delicious puddings will not shill themselves. MyPudding is always willing to go to an event on the condition he can be seen eating whatever the latest pudding release is and that a few cases can be sold on the side in parking lot deals. Thus far, the team has generously agreed to these terms. So he'll happily show up to the restaurants, but he'll only agree to autograph cases of pudding (sold separately), or maybe one of the couple cups of pudding he brings along as freebies to particularly dedicated fans. Sure, it may be a little odd, but it at least means there is one player who is enthusiastic about being there at each of the typical offseason player appearances. And there's usually a free meal in it...

Unfortunately, Graj no longer has the offensive prowess in his old age to be considered a top 3 forward on the Forge, and so he has had to move back to the wing for the upcoming season. Doing so requires a lot of re-learning and re-adjusting to the role of a winger, since it's been so long since he was on the wing, nearly half a decade. He'll have to move more towards being an assisting threat than a goalscorer threat and may even have to drop some of his defensive prowess as well. He still wants to have a great +/-, as he still is on track to be at the very top of that leader board at the end of his career, so his focus will be on learning how to get assists from the wing again while also making sure he does everything in his power to support his defensemen and goalkeeper that he's playing with.

SHL GM Quebecer trying to make goalie TPE matter in Texas
Written Option 2:
Since the playoffs were a bit too short for him, for the first time in like 4 seasons he took some time off to travel and get his mind to think about something else than hockey for a change. Took a week of vacation in the Bahamas with the girlfriend and the baby to relax and do things they cannot do in Texas. After that a little trip to Europe to discover new cultures and see lot of touristic attractions. Traveling is fun, but that doesn't make you a better hockey player. Maybe in your head, but not on the ice. The little brother is playing now in the SMJHL so we got to train together at my home in Texas before we leave to our homeland in Québec. There, we visit family and continue to train with each other. We also play in some "beer league" in the summer with some other québécois in both our team that we know and some that we play against. That way we continue to skate and train a few things before the real training camp. |
