Episode 12: Kraken vs Highlanders: GM Feud

Seven writes on his phone to make a list of activities he wants to do for his coming cruise. He picked Viking Cruise to take a trip around Japan. He is very excited for his trip and he is setting things up with management and hopefully Kahri doesn’t ruin it for him. He looks up looking at his team practicing then Olivija, Swedish, and Lukas skates over to sit by him.

Lukas frowns “Do you have to leave us with her?”
Seven smiles “Luke, I will be gone only for two weeks.”
Olivija’s eyes popped open “Two weeks! Are you mad?!”
Seven smiles “This was pre-planned and this season is Kahri’s 2nd as GM. So this gives her an opportunity to show herself as a GM without me around. I think that I am leaving you in good hands.”
Swedish frowns “Seven, I have a question..”
Seven shakes his head “No, when Kahri became GM of Kraken,I updated everyone’s contract and made provision. Nobody and I do by mean ain’t nobody getting traded. You must get her permission and she must accept it 3 times.”
Olivija sighs “Jack tried and it didn't go well. She wanted to know why and pull those sad eyes.”
Swedish begin to cry “Why?”
Seven pats his back “Young Swedish, if I have to suffer Kahri so does everyone else. It’s the Kraken way…” 

Kahri whistles “Hey you three coffee break with Seven is over! We have our match with Pyro and Highlanders in 2 days and I want us to win!”
Seven blinks “Wait we are up against Frenchie’s team?”
Kahri nods “Yes, so Seven, I want you to come then you can leave for your vacation. At least let Frenchie give you a send off.” 

Seven take out a can of beer “Ah fuck!”
Lukas looks at him “Why do you think she is so hype for?”
Olivjja sighs “Demir is my friend but every time we go against Highlanders something always happens!”
Swedish smiles “Maybe it might be different. Come on guys we beat them before so perhaps we are letting it get to us.”
Seven sips his beer “Highlanders have been performing very well Swedish. They beat the fucking trees about ⅘ games! They are currently 5 games undefeated! They have an actual shot of getting the cup this season!”
Lukas crossed his arms “Does Kahri know?”
Seven looks at him “I will give you a moment to think…”
All 3 players put their head down “We’re fucked!”

The Highlanders arrive at Carolina stadium as they head to the guest locker room. Pyro orders BBQ for the team since Carolina is one of the BBQ hubs of the United States. He looks around for a water fountain to fill his water bottle. Then there is someone tapping their feet. He turns around and jumps.

He grab his bottle “Kahri! Don’t creep up on me like that!”
Kahri smiles “Let’s see you are in my stadium, getting my water, and standing here before me.”
He frowns “So expect me to return the favor when you come to Ottawa. So I see you have not been at your best this season.”
She crosses her arms “It’s a minor hiccup.”
He poke her head “Mike thought so too and he is on a loser streak against us because of overconfidence. Please don’t make the same mistake Kahri.”
Kahri laughs “I am not going to make it easy for you Pyro. Frenchie’s gamble is proving well but that streak has an end date.”
He grins “Someone is in denial..”
She flips him off “I will kick your ass!”

She walks off calling her team to assemble at their dining hall. Pyro looks around and thinks that Highlander needs some improvements but it will be a while. Winning the cup will speed things up for them. If they can win this cup this year it’s possible that they can try for it again. Unlike Citadelles, much of their core players are still here for another season or two. They are only losing Demir, Florian, and Benji. However Jacob can pick up defensive end while Easton and Clarence can for offensive end. He stops and looks at the door, hearing the team. He can sense an problem brewing due to Frenchie’s choice. He knows the hockey game well while it works for juniors. It's a disservice in preparation for SHL. Unfortunately it’s not the right time to address it and he did agree to let this play out after he is Assistant GM not the main one.

The puck falls to the ice to begin the faceoff between Olivija and Demir. She mouths “save me” as Kahri yells from the benches. Demir grins knowing her suffering and can tell this is going to be a long game. It is always something anytime they face the Kraken team. The puck falls down and Olivija wins the faceoff, handling it to her forwards. Jamie and Jack play around using Kahri’s strategy as tic tac toe. As Demir try to take the puck they both pummel him allowing Swedish to take the puck and score as some ice ended up in Bishop’s eyes blocking his ability to block.

Kahri claps “That’s right boys keep it going!”
Seven smiles, “That actually work? Wow, good job.”
Kahri nods “Thank you but the night is young! I want everyone to push themselves to the limit! Put your back to it Kraken!”

Frenchie sips his tea “Well we delay it as much as possible but we knew it was inevitable Pyro.”
Pyro sips his tea “You know she is going to be a hothead tonight. How is Seven?”
Frenchie looked at him “He has a 4 pack of modelo with him.”
Pyro raises an eyebrow “Damn! That's a bottle per period..”

Max laughs and points at Demir “Nice defending loser!”

Demir looked at him and was about to run to him but was held back by Easton and Pique. Demir is willing to kick his ass. He has grown tired of Max. He wants to prove that asshole wrong completely.

Pique bonks his head “Fuck him Demir! You know Max is hot air! Don’t let him get you but show him who got better balls on this ice!”
Easton nods “Yeah Demir, heck look at us! We are #3 in both league and conference. Where is he at? So come on…”
Demir nods “Yeah you two are right! Thanks…”
Pique grins “Besides kicking ass is Peyton and Jacob’s job.”
Easton tabbed his stick “Let’s go make a response to shut him up!”

The puck falls to the ground for another face off that Kraken wins. Max takes the puck and goes to make an attempt to score. Demir watches him as he knows what he is. He wants to shut this asshole down for good. Once Max makes it to his zone, Demir hits him to the wall and steals the puck. Then pass it to Easton as he dodge all of Kraken and before he gets hit by the defenders he passes it to Pique who scores to tie the game.

Demir nods his head “Yeah who is the loser? I am going to make sure you fucking lose tonight Max! I am Demir Bellona, a legend in the making! So shut the fuck up!”

Kahri tosses the flag to call for a timeout to gather the Kraken together. She paces around furiously while Seven sips his first can of modelo. The Kraken team is very mixed, not sure what Kahri is going to say or do. The fact that Seven is being laissez faire isn’t helping their nerves.

Kahri slaps her clipboard which crack “Alright! Look, I know they are tough but so are we! Max, stop the mind games on Demir! It’s not working!”
Max frowns “Hey..”
Olivija glares “You are ass and you just fuel him which is why the game is tied!”
Kahri nods “Exactly so you are out of rest of the period! Now we are going to pull a zone blitz! With the lack of true defenders we can take advantage of it.”
Seven looks up “Against Demir and that rookie yes but once they pull up Jacob is where you will see the problem. I pay attention to people Kahri. He managed to negate many players, especially Timbers score busters. Even if we pass him if you haven’t notice their goalie is a fucking wall! So our troubles will double up!”
Jamie smirks “Then we do double edge 7! It’s normally for the playoffs but in this case…”
Seven smiles “I think it can work..”
Jamie pats Swedish and Jack “We got this! Noah, Vince?”
Vincent blows into his vape “We will handle the Frenchman and the Brick!”

The Kraken gets back on the ice as they begin their plan. They get into a circle and skate around before they split off holding the puck. Pique tries to steal but he is pushed away by Jack. He passed it to the Swedish who skated around the net as Demir followed him. Bishop ready to defend. He passed it to Jamie to score on Bishop’s right. 

Frenchie grits his teeth realizing that they use a technique that he gave them. His sips his drink as he stares at the Kraken GMs. Pyro looks at him with concern.

Frenchie smirks.“They want to play dirty fine! I will teach them about using my own tricks against me!”
Cycro writes in his book “You taught them too well. Honestly you had to suspect it will happen at some point.”
Frenchie nods  “You are correct Cycro so it’s time that the master schools the students!”

Frenchie brings out his board and starts drawing as the team comes in to break. He goes over a new strategy being very intense. He bangs on the table 3 times as some people think he has a problem. Overall the team gets the point and heads back on the ice for 2nd period.

The Kraken team try to make another score but is unable to get past Jacob’s defense and Bishop’s wall. Joe, Benji, and Peyton grins as they start Frenchie’s plan. Jacob steal the puck away allowing Joe to take it. He shakes very fast to the wall passing Vince as Benji takes it from him he also skates to the wall allowing Peyton to take and score. The Highlanders lead the game. 

Kahri bangs the table going off as Olivija takes some tyenol for her coming headache. Lukas held his hand out asking some too. The Highlanders continue their plan adding another score to the board! Kahri does some hand signals to the team. Jamie, Jack, and Swedish get it to gear to find an opening. They grin knowing that the switch of defenders has been made. They take an opportunity to push Clarence and Demir around and score. 

Kahri crossed her arms “Ollie, is your headache gone?”
Olivija gulps “Yes…”
Kahri smiles “Good, you are friends with Demir right?” 
Olivija nods “Yes… Kahri…no…”
Kahri turned to her “He is a man and they all have weaknesses. You know him right? So use it to negate him besides while he is good for offense. He is not as prudent for defense.”
Olivija frowns “What if they switch him with Jacob?”
Kahri smirks “You’re a woman and all men have a weakness.”
Seven sighs as he finishes his first beer “You are sounding desperate!”
Kahri glares “You got any ideas Mr 4 pack?” 
Seven grins “Excuse my negligence madam…”
Everyone rolls their eyes at Seven’s antics

Olivija kicks Vince and Noah out as she stages as leading defenseman. Demir can tell in her eyes she means business which equals trouble for him. Kraken continues to try to score but they get blocked by Jacob and Bishop. The goalie tosses the puck to Florian who takes the chance to maneuver himself around the Kraken. Olivija attempts to stop him but fails as he scores. She spits to the ground and raises her hand to rally the crowd. Kraken feel the power of the crowd and start to get their head in gear.

 Hockey begins to plan because she can tell this going to be good. She moves to guys to spread to stop them but not avail. Two of them are keeping Jacob busy. Hockey move toward the net to protect Bishop as the puck hits Olivija’s han. Hockey stand between them but tension rise between the two women.

Olivija smiles “How was the date?”
Hockey raised her eyebrow “Fine and it wasn't a date. We are two good friends. Now I am going to stop you!”
Olivija smirks “So if you two are just pals. Then maybe perhaps I can make my move since he is single. I already invited him to my place tonight. So regardless we will have some fun tonight.”
Hockey eyes popped open “YOU WHAT?!”

Taking the opportunity Olivija moves quickly and scores allowing the game to be tied. Hockey’s eye become red with fury. Before she can do anything Jacob holds her. 

Jacob frowns “Hey only I can do that and it’s to mess with Mia’s head. Now isn’t a time for a cat fight but she is messing with your head Hock.”
Hockey grits her teeth “He..she.. they…”
Jacob grins “Then go out there and score! I will block them okay.”
Hockey signs “Thanks J-Mac..”

Hockey breaths in and out as the team enters a faceoff. Highlander wins it with Easton leading the puck and passing it onto Pique. He tries to make a goal but Olivija is on his case so he passes to Hockey. More Kraken try to hit her but they get slammed by Jacob. The playmaker takes the chance to score giving Olivija the fuck you look. Olivija shrugs as Lukas grins they make their next move in the 3rd period. Kraken continues to find holes then Swedish have an idea. They break up to enter the inner zone to expose weaknesses of Highlanders. They go harder on the forwards and overwhelm Jacob which helps Olivija to score again.

As the game continues in the 3rd quarter it gets intense as neither side gives in. Penalties were being called out a lot. Kahri and Pyro got called for it and got in trouble with the referee. The game ends with OT. 

Kahri breaks her clipboard with karate crop. “Are you fucking kidding me?!”
Pyro grins “Well you wasn’t good enough clearly Kahri.”
Kahri stares at him “Fuck you!”
Pyro cross his arm “No and for once act your age. I swear you sometimes are a bitch!”

Everyone at Kraken goes silent knowing Pyro press a button. Seven finish his 2nd beer begging them to stop for his sake. But his pleas are ignore as Kahri takes her off her earrings and jacket 

Kahri glares “Repeat that again!”
Pyro comes in closer “You are a bitch!”

Kahri punch him in the face. Pyro holds his face then he try to punch her back but she dodge it. She gives an uppercut and jump kick. The crowd goes wild as the gught begins. Pyro place his hand up like a boxer and focuses on punching her stomach. Giving her a jab, jab, and right hook. Kahri coughs blood but grabs his head to headbutt and kicks him in the nuts. Pyro yelps in pain as she kicks him to the ground. 

Kahri spits “Get up since I am a bitch!”
Pyro moans in pain as she kicks him then punch him in the face again. Jack and Lukas take Kahri away from Pyro. The referee makes a decision giving both GMs a 1 game suspension. 

Seven holds his head “Kahri why? My
vacation… I can’t get a refund from my cruise!”
Olivija hugs Seven to comfort him

Cycro whistles “You know people go wild for players fighting but never GMs. It’s always something with Kraken.”
Frenchie sighs “Not only he got suspended but he lost the fight to Kahri in public on film. His social standing is on the slopes as tonight will go viral on social media.”

After that fiasco the game continues in overtime as both teams are on their guard. However no one was able to score. So a shootout was required in order to end it. Bishop slaps himself holding his ground to make sure no one scores. Each Kraken shooter tries to hit the net but Bishop negates every attempt. Meanwhile Highlanders make their attempt to shoot with Peyton delivering the winning shot!
