SHL should add RFAs and encourage more players to go to free agency so we can see a Free Agent Frenzy like the NHL has. It’s one of the most exciting days on the calendar and could spice up the SHL offseason

NHL should make their players write articles in order to get better. After all, who wouldn't want to see an AHL line 3 winger write a deep dive on a random team from the 2000s?

I think that it's very hard to make a replice of NHL if it's meant as a simulation league. SHL isn't very unique anyway. There are plenty similar leagues. Some of them in English, others in different languages. I just think it's very important to keep up the pace, so the league is interesting for all users. That's it. Nothing much to change or improve.

While it would be pretty funny seeing players getting injured, not in the NHL because I am not sick like that, but in the SHL to add another dynamic to things. The logistics of it would not work at all as teams do not have minor league affiliates, as such there would be no players to pull from. SHL does it the right way for where it's at right now.

The SHL should have fourth lines and a legitimate role for grinders, goons, and defensive players. As of right now, you need four McDavids and a couple of Lidstroms to compete for a cup, and even middling-TPE players are the equivalent of first line NHLers. It's unfortunate that nobody really joins sim leagues to be role players, because having more balanced rosters in this league would be a great vibe.

I would like to see injuries and suspensions be applied to the SHL, maybe cap them so players arnt missing half a season every season. Just enough to add some flare.

We limit our gains up to 20 attribute points, and the game clearly goes up to 40.  Who wouldn't want to make an SHL team of McDavid's on steroids?  I think that's something that would be crazy interesting to do in the SHL if even for just one season.  Heck, even one offseason that would be wild.

82 games.

Lets stop with these weird numbers for a season and get to the real bread and butter that allows us to compare our careers to other NHL players. Do it - I don't care about the logistics - lets match it up.

I'd like to see star players that actually stand out above the rest, like in the NHL. With our TPE update scale everyone sooner or later becomes the same player and the only thing that determines how good our numbers look is whether the rest of the team is good or bad.

Past Players

My favorite part of the realism of the SHL in regards to the NHL is the use of the SMJHL as a feeder league for newer players. My only gripe with it as far as realism goes is the tpe caps that players have to deal with. New users are confused by them and having to go the whole season without being able to update your player is a little discouraging I feel. I get wanting to keep teams from having high tpe players, but you could allow uncapping and incentivise SHL teams to call up players early if they have a use for them. You could also allow players past their prime a chance to return to the SMJHL if they want to continue playing as their tpe fails. This would have to be regulated in some way though to make regression harder to fight and still allow room for new creates in the league. It would help to combat the use of IA players by giving long term users a chance to keep playing a player if they wanted to as long as a team wanted them.

I think that SHL could learn something valuable from the NHL, and that's having way, way, way more fights than we currently have as is. Gloves off more often!

I think the SHL is identical to the NHL in all virtual ways possible, it’s like the virtual version of EA SPORTS ITS IN THE GAME but basicallly real

“I thought I was a goalie, but STA told me forget being a goalie they make nothing, and no one cares about them.  Guess what I was a center all along and I had no idea. Now I am the toast of the town, and I am getting offers from all the GMs and Scouts.”

Two of the most wacky and wild days in the NHL are the Trade deadline and free agent frenzies. I would love to see more of that in the SHL but us having fewer players and so many faithful users and players it's hard to see any of that come about.
So instead of focusing on what's not ever likely going to change, why not change the focus. The SHL Draft and the off season is where we see most changes in teams here in the SHL. Why not highlight it some more? The draft I think has lots of coverage and media and that's wonderful but the off season is often overlooked as the boring part in between seasons but there is often so much happening for GMs and between teams in regards to making a team fit the cap and roster moves that help accomplish those goals as well as players getting called up maybe a season early in order to make it all work! It would be really cool to see some focus there!

My enjoyment of real life hockey is always hindered by the amount of injuries players on my team suffer and I can't even imagine how shitty it would be if you had your fake hockey player injured all the time so I'm glad injuries are turned off in this fantasy world.

I would like there to be injuries in the SHL and more fighting, this would make some other builds more viable and not have everyone just build towards one meta. Also, the NHL can use some tampering in my opinions.
