S77 PT #4: Hometown Hero Due: Sunday, July 7th @ 11:59 PM PST
#76

I think that Will Tomlander would love to have something that is civic minded and used by everyone named after him. He does come from a pretty small town, more of a farming village really, so maybe something like a community hall would be cool. That way everyone can use it, it betters the community, and makes it so that there is a tangible improvement in what is a very small village with not a lot of people. Perhaps it could be multi use as well, something that can also boost tourism in the area or create jobs. Maybe a small museum chronicling hockey in the area, or local history.

It is great when hockey players do something to benefit the community, whether it is the hometown that they come from or wherever it is that they are playing currently. This is something that I really like about hockey as a sport in general in that it has a strong sense of giving back. +

Written Option 1

Jaden would be very confused if the mayor of Tampa decided to name something after him. However, given the ability to choose what gets named after him, he would likely pick a school. Education is something that is very important to him, and he feels it's a necessity for a populace that is engaged and mindful of how their decisions affect themselves and each other. He also may choose to focus on making it a school that nurtures girls looking to enter STEM fields.

This would likely have to be built, meaning he would get the opportunity to be a part of the opening ceremony. Usually not one to enjoy the spotlight very much, Jaden would nonetheless be very excited to take part in the beginning of a school like that. He would consider it an honor to have his name associated with something that he feels is very important, and would likely view it as one of his biggest accomplishments in life.

Written Option 1: Mayor of your players hometown reaches out to them and lets them know that the whole city council is impressed with your players performance. They want to name something after your player and hope they will attend the ceremony. But unfortunately everything hockey related is already named by the last great player from the city and they don’t dare to change it, so instead they let your player make the pick. So will it be a school, mall or maybe disc golf range? What will be your player’s pick and why? If it is a new place being built what does your player want to be included on it? Will they attend the ceremony, how does it go?

Oh no! Tibuk Soonika's name is to be attached to his home city but they are running low on things to name after him. While it would be great to be known for the one the hockey rinks or stadiums it doesn't look like that is going to shake out so well. The next best hope is to try and attach it to something that is going to leave a legacy and not something that will just get torn down and renamed with some other shot shot. A hospital would be nice because you know there are never enough of those and they are going to be used forever, same with a school. The other option could be a bridge because then everyone is talking about you alllll the time of course if you are in a bad spot your bridge just gets associated with the terrible traffic. There are so many options that I think I will just pull a choice out of a hat and call it a day.

Option 1:

While there could be many options for Logan Webb to choose, and it was difficult to do so, ultimately he thought Logan Webb's Martial Toys and Enhancements was the right place. This place holds a special spot in Logan's heart as he has frequented it often. A lot of the shrewd city councilors tried to talk him out of it but Webb would not budge.

"Marriage is a sacred vow and a legal contract no matter what you do or do not believe in. It is hard at times. If I can do a little something to help marriages stick together and become more enjoyable, your damn right I will support it. This is my way to help those who are having troubles and those who are happily married but looking for a little more enjoyment out of it." Webb replied to local media.

When one of his young fans asked what they sold in their, another said "it must be Harry Potter supplies, look it has a sign on the window that says wands of all sizes." Fortunately for the children they will have to wait a few years before finding out for sure.

While unconventional, Webb truly believes this is the right calling to add his name. He had also asked the city councilors to add his name to a few select hotels that rent rooms by the hour... but that one was rejected.

When the first goes in, it's a little celly, Nathaniel is a D man after all, but he's used to scoring goals, so not the end of the world there, still down and need to crawl back. stick raised at half shaft, a nod to the rest of the line, and a little glove tap, back to the circle boys, let's line up for another one. This one ties it up late! Arms high up in the air, "fuck yea" very noticeably read from Jomboy, and heavy fist pumps all around from the line, and a bench flyby getting the boys all pumped up for the comeback. At the end of the flyby a very long stare down at the opposition bench.
When the third goes in we are jumping into the glass. Big group hug with the line, then head towards the bench. Since we're home the offense is on the opposition bench side so I fly by their bench and flip them off with both hands. I eat that fine because it's worth it, the fans love it and it gets under their skin.

Option 1

Given the fact that Andren is attempting to be the premiere tough guy and agitator of his generation, I know exactly what he'd take if all of the other 'good' things that can be named were taken. It'd be a boxing gym, and not exactly a nice one. It'd have to be a bit down and dirty. A bit run down and it would be named 'The Akerson School for people who want to fight good'. It sounds better in Swedish. He'd attend the ceremony of course, dressed to the nines in Panthers teal to cut the ribbon and tell fight stories from both his still young career in the SHL and his junior career before that. Since this is his first (of many in the future) naming ceremonies, he'd have to invite his mother so he can give a teary eyed dedication to her for raising him up tough enough to get a boxing gym named after him.

It is the last game of the season for Nevada Battleborn and they are playing against Anchorage Armada. Even better is that Nevada gets to play their last game at home where their fans reside. This will be a strong way to end the season for Nevada, who are currently top 2 in the SMJHL league trailing only behind the likes of Maine Timber. The game starts and both teams are going at it. Gwen is the first one to put the goal in for Nevada but the one goal lead quickly fades as Jesus Murphy ties the game. Murphy scores another giving Armada the lead but Gwen scores another. THe game is 2-2 and we head into the second where Lyle Odelein scores two back to back goals two give Anchorage a two goal lead. Boyka is furious as he is unable to do anything and the second period ends. Without further to do, Boyka gulps a whole bottle of Belvedere Vodka and heads into third period. Here is starts playing drunken hockey. He is so smooth like butter and evades the opposition and scores a one man goal. He gets the puck and scores another and the game is tied at 4-4 and heads into overtime. Boyka quickly gulps another bottle and scores the 3rd goal back to back to win it 5-4 for Nevada. The whole stadium erupts in awe at Boyka's drunken hockey and starts throwing beer onto the ice rink. Boyka does the stone cold celebration in which he slams two beer cans and pours the drink all over his face. At this point, he also does the L Griezmann celebration dance and taunts the opposition. As he continues laughing he yells at the stadium in russian "I did it for you Nevada". He then heads towards the locker room but before he is able to get there, he gets bombarded by the media. They ask him , "hey Boyka, please elaborate on your performance today" Right as he was going to comment, he starts projectile vomiting into the cameras and then needed to be admitted to the hospital.

Chuck was thrilled to hear from the mayor of undisclosed town, New York that they wanted to honor him with naming something after his likeness. He was rather concerned though to hear that it was the new fitness center being constructed downtown… Chucks concern came from the possibility of the name causing some issue amongst the areas people, “The Chunky Fitness Center”. Besides the name being, perhaps, a little insensitive sounding, it also confused Chuck because he has never been a big fitness buff! He wants to go to the gym to get his fitness to the point where he can perform well in the rink but he doesn’t enjoy his time at the gym… It only allows him to reach his main goals. Despite the concern, he is still honored that the town has thought of him and appreciates the invite. Pending the team’s schedule, Chuck is planning to try to make it home for the opening ceremony.

It was a momentous occasion when Leonard Wood scored back to back goals to bring the Philadelphia Forge to overtime against the Baltimore Platoon. It was the last home game of the season and those goals capped off a tremendous rookie season for Leonard Wood. Cale Salad eventually went on and scored the game winner in over time. But the crowd was roaring when Wood scored his goals in the third. Fans could be overheard saying how excited they were to see Wood finally in Philadelphia. They were looking forward to many more victories headed into the playoffs and in the following seasons. After the game, Leonard Wood was awarded the first star of the game as he skated back out onto the ice for a victory lap. The crowd went nuts. Wood threw a signed puck to a child in the first row right behind the glass. The broadcasting crew snagged him for an interview afterwards too. Wood was visibly beaming in the interview, filled with excitement after the thrilling win. He plans to bring this excitement to the playoffs.

Written Option 1:

Given that she is from a big city, could you imagine what it would be like to have New Orleans allow Brooklyn Physt to name something? Sounds like a creative PR stunt that Joe would come up with just to collect another Physt.

In the only other city her father played hockey though, Brooklyn would more than likely choose one of her unique passions to receive this honour. As we all know, she is very fond of Surfing and possibly in another reality would have been a pro. Therefore it would come as no surprise that she'd choose to give her name to a popular beach in the area. Tying her love and passion to yet another place.

Differentiating herself from her father is a major part of her identity. Especially given their shared passions for Hockey. Let alone the fact that fate has drawn her all over down the very same roads to him.

The mayor of Ace Lightning’s hometown of Chicago, Illinois loves naming things after famous players who have played there, but never one who was born there. Michael Jordan is everywhere, and hell, even Patrick Kane has his own series of legal offices named after him. Ace Lightning was offered something even better, and he is proud to announce that the Ace Lightning Money Emporium will be opening up by the famous bean in only a few weeks. You will be able to get that fast money loan at a competitive rate soon! Lightning fast, they’ll say. Great person to have his name on this kind of business because Lightning has raked in the money in his short SHL and SMJHL careers, and has been known to lend his friends and colleagues some money from time to time. Unfortunately, Lightning is not able to attend the ceremony as he will be playing in the playoffs for the first time in three seasons but he sends his regards.

Alexandros was born in the city of Toronto, Canada. A place with a lot of potential both in and around the city for naming potential. After hmming and hawing for a while and going over all the locations in his head only 2 locations truly stand out to Alexandros. The first would be the CN tower with its view over the city being one of the only memories he still has of the city since he no longer lives there but he would feel weird naming such a landmark after himself so that would be a no. the second which he would choose is probably the most important landmark to him, the Scarborough general hospital where he was born. He would certainly come to the ceremony and happily make a donation to the place where he came into this world. In the newly minted Mograine memorial hospital he hopes many future SHL players are born with stars in their eyes and hope in their heart.

Written Option 1:

When faced with this opportunity, Noah Smith was...stunned to say the least. He never thought that he'd have something named after him since he hasn't even made his SHL debut yet. But he jumped on the opportunity quickly.... just for him to find out that there basically wasn't anything left. No hockey rinks, no schools, one great even had a ice cream place named in their honor. So he went with the obvious next best option... a daycare. Now Noah wasn't exactly the most excited about that being the building, but he was not going to complain. He instantly flew back to his hometown after a game, and on 7/6/24, he cut the ribbon (after a comically long time trying to figure out how to get a capybara to hold a pair of giant scissors), and the Noah Smith Daycare was officially opened. Unfortunately for him though, most children just thought he was a random capybara.
