S78 PT #2: It Was All a Trick! Due: Sunday, August 25th @ 11:59 PM PST

Graj is the type of player that will play tricks on his opposition in order to gain an advantage. He does these tricks in a number of ways. Firstly, and his go-to, he will tell a well-known joke, then screw up the punchline badly so that the opponent knows that he knows it but is purposely messing it up. This sometimes will make the opponent momentarily distracted, such as at a faceoff or in a one on one situation, but more frequently just breezes over their heads. When that happens, Graj likes to bounce up from a hit and have a couple quarters fall out of his pocket onto the ice, making the mario kart noise for when you've been hit by a bullet bill. He then grabs the quarters and skates off to wherever the action is. He only does this one when he's facing an opponent who he's known for a while and who he knows will enjoy the laugh, however, as it does take away from his team as a whole.

Thanks to EAB and sulovien for the sigs!

Sunrise is not the type of person to play pranks. He is well-humoured, do not get me wrong, but he does not see any reason to pull pranks on teammates, nor does he feel particularly familiar with them for that sort of thing. He is just generally more focused on playing and doing his job than these sorts of things. Would not say he is even above it but he just so happens to live around that, I suppose you could say.

Now being pranked is something that I suppose happens at times. He probably would ignore it all with all due respect, there is not much reason to let these weight one down when they are on the way of the important things that keep him where he currently is. Still, at any rate, it is not a big deal for him whatever way it goes, as long as it does not get too serious.

Option 1:  Of course Elly loves pranks! She is always prowling around the locker room and leaving pawprints all over the other players hockey sticks. Sometimes she would sneak a fake rubber bird into the middle of the locker room as if she had made a fresh kill. Sometimes she replaces the snacks with rubber mice as well. One of Elly's favorite pranks though was replacinf the puck mid practice with a rubber puck that was super super squeaky. They team couldnt help but laugh and finish the rest of practice with the squeaky puck. They keep the puck in the locker room whenever they need a little extra light heartedness before or after a game.

But she always makes sure nothing is ever harmful. It's important to have fun but never to hurt the other players or ruin their stuff. Everyone needs a good laugh or a joke and it keeps the morale up.

Holmberg hates when players use tricks to get an advantage. Diving is his biggest issue, he thinks that a player resorting to diving to draw a penalty is a coward and they don't respect the game. Diving is cheap way to get a call, and to Holmberg it is an indicator of who to really lay into if they are going to dive. If you are getting called for the penalty, you might as well make it count. Dirty hits behind the play when the refs are looking will happen, but it's something that paints a target on your back. You think you can avoid it and run for ever, but sooner or later you'll slip up and the other team/player will get retaliation for the dirty hit you threw. For Holmberg it will always be an eye for an eye, you play the game hard and fair and he will give it right back. As soon as your try to be dirty or draw penalties off dives, he'll start to lay it in.

Shout out Ragnarr for these two amazing sigs

Option 2

It's very weird, but in the regular season, Dionne is a calm player who plays by the book. He doesn't try to get the attention on him by embellishing some moves to get a powerplay out of it. He have the "respect" for the game and he plays by the best of his abilities to win the game. He's got some so he's not afraid to exploit them.
But in the playoffs it's not the same thing.
He's ready to do anything to get the win. Not dirty hits, but some slashing or cross checking where it hurt and always trying to get in the head of the other team goalie. His brother gave him some tricks to try on them. Sometimes it's even the defensemen who loose focus first so he got some friendly visits but since he did 'nothing" the refs can't do nothing against him. That frustrate a lot a people, but his teammates love him because of that.

prompt 2:

I am a fan of pushing for every possible advantage and trying to maybe bend the rules a little just to squeeze a little bit more in there. Whether it's chirps, a bit of stick work, or just a good old big hit to rattle them bones a little, if you are not trying to cheat, are you really trying to win? There are lines to not cross and things that are less cheating and more exploiting an error which is probably less than savoury and I would like to think I would never go that far myself, but sometimes there is space for an alternate interpretation of the rules that might get you a slap on the wrist, but can benefit you nicely. And sometimes, you just plainly send a full on illegal hit to make sure that the message is loud and clear and that we are on the same page, and understand that the shit ain't flying no more and we will get ugly if you keep it up.

Written Option 2

My player, Lyle Odelein IV, for the most part, plays a pretty clean game. He will always try to help his team win a game with their skill and team play. However, he also understands that to win, you may have to step out of your comfort zone. He isn't afraid to get in the dirty areas or the scrums after the whistle blows. If you can gain any sort of advantage over your opponents, you take it. Getting under the opposing teams skin can get them off there game. And if you keep a level head, and don't take it too far, there is a good chance you could draw a penalty or two, putting your team on a power play, and getting an opportunity to not just change the score on the scoreboard, but to change the momentum of the game, helping your team getting closer to a win. Lyle tries to play his best when both teams are playing full out, and he knows that sometimes he has to engage in all of the aspects of the game, something that some of the best players do quite well.

Journey Man isn't one to pull tricks during play. He plays a more straight forward game, relying on his skills and will power to overcome his opponents. Journey feels that the key to eliminating bad behavior and dirty plays for the league is to make sure players truly understand the repercussions that happen to those injured by these plays. Seeing the pain they can cause, and remembering the human behind the helmet is instrumental in keeping the game clean. Journey hopes that his reputation amongst the league will help prevent any type of dirty plays towards him or his teammates. Journey Man isn't much of a fighter, so trying to pound the other team into playing clean isn't much of an option. Fighting has become rare in the SHL, but you do see some fighters still, so hopefully they can also help keep the game clean. There's also the aspect of mind games, but Journey Man doesn't engage in that either.

it was all a trick, i used to read word up magazick!

hmmm ok well i accidentally answered this PT last week because essentially what I described as my welcome package to new rookies. So i'll answer another part of this - how does philippe eko eel manage to avoid being pranged. we are a team full of vicious prangsters such as @micool132 the most notorious of the bunch. eel has studied angus mcfife xviii and his ways, and now is keeping a close eye on his relative nathangus mcexplosion (a prospect in the ATL system) - eel studies all of their prangs and intentions and movements to try to anticipate and get out ahead of any potential prangs. for example if angus mcfife used to ask about a piece of seemingly-irrelevant knowledge that he seemingly should know, it's probably a deez nuts style setup trap and you should not answer his question! @Gordon Bombay accidentally forgets this sometimes. philippe eko eel is actually good at avoiding prangs from micool132 but sometimes lets his guard down around other prangsters like @goldenglutes who wants to turn him into sushi and eat him like a complete food

Option 1:
The goalie is often a guy who like to prank their teammates, and Dionne is clearly one of them. He was not like that at the beginning of his career in the SHL, but now he's a bit more older so he got the status to back him up.
His favorite victims are the captain of the team, David-Arturri Donskoi. They developed a great chemistry in and off the ice so when he get the chance he love to prank him. Donskoi is the captain so he needs to keep control of his emotions, but sometimes you can see in his eyes the rage of vengeance hahaha!
The other player is the long time defenseman, Dirty Boots. Boots was there before Dionne played his first game so they know each other really well after more than 10 seasons together. Boots is more a prankster than Donskoi, so him and Dionne are not afraid to get at each other form time to time to lighten the mood in the locker room.

We play many pranks in the phorge locker room most of whice are centered around making Ricky mad and angry at all times ebcuase that is funy and it makes everyone else happy. what we do to start is we nug his hockey bag becaaes that is a classic taht needs to come back. This typically makes him mad and is the reason he is always late to warmups prior to games. Turns out this also makes coach big time mad and might be why his ice time is being slowly cut. The next thing taht we do is attempt to wet his seat on the bench constantly. This is a good one for anyone to do but esspecially since he has this strange fear of wet pants. One time we got his locker iwth this and he got wet pants prior to flying home from an away game. he was very unhappy. I will say it might be a good idea to not do this in the playoff this season but it is so much fun we probably will continue and just accept the punishmert.

Valerija Seraphim is known for taking every advantage that she can get away with.  It is usually never personal for her just instinctive. She would never have survived as a kid on the streets if she didn't resort to dirty tricks. Chirping, hits of varying intensity and timing, slew footing and even snowing a goalie is on the table. There is a fine line between mind games and unsportsmanlike and unsafe behavior and if she crosses that line she is willing to pay the price be that on the ice or off. Learning what you can get away with and what gets you a match penalty is important. Mind games are a part of this game and learning to adapt is critical to any player. No one wants to end a career due to a bad hit. She will even apologize for her actions if they go to far.
