Milestones Hit in Jervis's 1st season: 3!
#47

#1 - The Ottawa Highlanders are looking to celebrate their amazing fans this upcoming season, and they’re rolling out a new fan appreciation event as part of that. The first home game every month will be HighFANders Night, with ticket promotions, discounted concessions (incl. beer), pre-game skates with the team, and a souvenir for each fan. The first HighFANders Night will feature a checkered Highlanders rally towel, and fans can grab one at any of the entrances as they arrive for the game. Each night will have a different souvenir, and if you wear all 6 to this season’s final home game you’ll get free admission, so make sure to show up!

#2 - I think heading into S79 the Highlanders are looking pretty strong, but we definitely have some areas to address during the offseason hopefully. Our biggest strength is in goal I would say, with a maxed out 4th year goalie in the starter spot, and a maxed out 2nd year goalie backing him up. At forward we have a bunch of maxed out players, and it looks like we’ll have our top 6 all at their TPE cap. Hockey Player, Spaceman Spiff, and Easton Schaffer will be difficult for the opposing teams to contain, and when they take a break the opposition will have the likes of Campeau, Worley, or Lunch to handle. On defense things get a little sketchier, because right now we don’t appear to have any active players at that position, but with a lot of good picks in the draft to work with, and maybe a little time to work the trade phone, we can shore up this spot no problem.

#9 - For me I think my all-time favourite player name was tweedledunn’s Ray Bork. I’m not sure if the bork meme is still popular in the SFP LR, but it was something that persisted through the transition from Portland to San Francisco. !bork was the command, and posting that in the discord server would spawn a row of bork-mojis. At first I didn’t quite get it, but once you start borking you can’t stop. I remember King wasn’t a fan of it after we drafted him, but the bork could not be stopped by him, or anyone (it seemed). So when it was time for my co-GM tweedle to recreate, and the plan was to create a defenseman, the name Ray Bork was a brilliant choice by him. This is obviously a very subjective topic, and I’m sure there are tons of names I haven’t even considered, but for me the connection to the team, and to reality, make this my favourite SHL name.

#14 - This offseason Jeff Kirkstone III will be heading home to San Francisco to visit family, and see old friends. There won’t be that much time to relax though, because JK3 is the type to keep pushing all year round. One thing he likes to do when he’s not training is baking, and learning to adjust recipes to make them healthier. Last season it was a big adjustment for Jeff to be on the road more, and to be playing a longer season. So he’ll be focusing on preparing himself to endure more in S79, and make sure he’s not losing too much steam by the end of the season.

#16 - Winning a Four Star Cup with the Highlanders is the big goal on my mind right now, and winning a Four Star Cup as a player is something I’ve been chasing with my last few players. I hope to see JK3 get to play 4 SMJHL seasons, and that shouldn’t be a problem considering how good my SHL team’s goalie is. It would be incredible to see my player get on the award ballot at some point, but that wouldn’t be until S80 or 81 for sure. For S79 my main goal is to make sure I have enough TPE to max out again in S80, which should be no problem at all, and hopefully also pull out another milestone TPE or two. In the SHL, I’m hoping JK3 can put up several 40+ win seasons, maybe bring home a McBride or two, and definitely at least one Challenge Cup victory for my team.

#17 - I would say overall this was a great season of PTs, and I had a great experience as a recreate user. With regard to the playoff PT in particular, this format was much much better than my previous experiences. Having the ability to be flexible with the subjects and TPE reward made it a lot less stressful, because I could just go off on one topic if I was really passionate. In the past it was a pain to have to stop yourself short on one answer, when you could’ve written more. Great work from the PT overall this season, and I’m grateful of the effort in improving the experience for everyone.

4. Funtimes

You have been designated as the team's official Fun Director! Now, everyone is looking for some sort of fun activity where you all can spend an afternoon or day to chill, hang out and build some team spirit. Especially after a long and stressful season, what are your plans to ensure everyone has a great time?

Once AJ found out that they would be Fun Director, they immediately came up with the most devious game known to SHL history. They called it the "Poke The Bear Game". The game goes just how you would expect and consists of annoying Kahri until she cracks or explodes, knowing she gets annoyed easily. The winner is whoever "pokes the bear" the most and gets her to "attack" or in other words gets her the most annoyed or mad. If you "poke the bear" the least amount of times then you sadly lose and have to clean the locker room for the rest of the season. The game lasts until the day is over and the prize is $300,000,000 or unlimited snacks for the the rest of the season for the winner. The fun part about it is that anyone can play, even people from other teams. The difficult part about it is having her not catch on and to remain clueless about the game. It'll be pretty hard since everyone will be laughing their butts off and annoying her more than usual but it’s all worth it to see the looks on her face. Suck it @kahri :3

2. Looking Towards the Future-

Nevada is in the starts of a rebuild going into this next season. Unfortunately, we were unable to compete deeper into the playoffs with the roster we were able to establish through the regular season. Thankfully, going forward we have a very strong core that we are looking to build upon in the upcoming draft as well as the future. JFK has done a fantastic job acquiring the assets needed to push the rebuild forward. Due to the nature of the SMJHL rebuilds need to be timed properly to not extend the period of mediocrity from graduate players. This will primarily be accomplished through the draft and utilizing the higher end picks from the expected, losing seasons. It’s tough to pin down exact NEEDS for Nevada as, outside of my recent draft class, we are relatively limited on future roster players. This is a double edged sword though as it allows the creative freedom between Fancey and JFK to really shape the roster based on expected player vision for their created player to slot into the roster the exact way they want the puzzle pieces to fall together. Hopefully next draft we are able to round out our top 4 defensemen and find our goalie of the future! (208)

12. On the Radar

When assessing Slava pre-draft the first thing that jumps out is the desire to be defensively responsible from the center position. Many players tend to focus on point production and individual success which, is completely understandable. My vision however is, being that shutdown player that, while providing solid point production, is being able to be matched against the opposing top times and dampen their production. This all starts from the faceoff dot. Slava makes it an emphasis to practice these regularly and control play from the get go. In addition to this, Slava is entirely focused in team success. Whatever assignment, whatever line mates, what ever role needs to be filled whether it’s being the primarily playmaker or being a 3rd line checking forward, he can fill that role within the team. (131)

14. R&R

The offseason will be spent as most NHL players spend it… on the golf course! Legitimately one of the greatest ways to relax as well practice essential hockey body movements. Both sports require efficient use of your core and hip muscles. Some of the best courses in the world such as Bethpage Black, Pebble Beach and TPC Myrtle Beach are on the ticket to be played during the offseason. Starting into the fall as well begins the time of performing poorly in fantasy football as well and cheering for local team success just to be dissatisfied as per usual… maybe one day. (102)

16. Goals

This is a relatively unexplored topic I’ve thought about so far in my career. The ideal ending would be winning defensive forward of the year multiple times throughout my career. In all sports there is nothing as special in my opinion as being the best defensive player. It solidifies that opposing teams WILL have to game plan against you specifically. To give an example; in the NFL back in the day of Khalil Macks prime it became a standard to double and triple team him because of how dominant he was at controlling the opposing offense. I hope to achieve this same type of success through dominance within the faceoff circle and elevating my CF% to show undeniable evidence that I tilt the ice when I’m out there. Ideally, going down as one of the best two-way guys to ever enter the league seems like a pipe dream but through solid, consistent earning as a new gen as I continue to build my bank up, it becomes reachable day by day. Another goal I hope to accomplish with this player is winning multiple IIHF medals and being a key asset to those teams. Being able to go out and be recognized by the Latvian organization would be a fantastic accomplishment. Ultimately though, I think the best goal I have set for myself is to positively impact the site and the teams I am apart of and continue that contribution by establishing myself as a solid first gen and helping future first timers reach the same level of success that I hope to achieve. 14) R&R - 4 TPE (237 words): As a son of a father who was in the league for nearly 20 seasons, I learned a lot on how to deal with the offseason. Everyone will say they're going to train harder than ever and keep up the grind to hashtag win the day, but I noticed that my father had his best seasons after he took time of to recuperate. You need to take deliberate time off and actually take it off. Leave your work phone at home. Don't check emails. Go somewhere nice and bring your family. That's what I plan on doing. Since hockey season is played in the winter, I lose my chance to fly south for the cold months since I have a job the won't let me work from home. Stupid, selfish bosses being stupid and selfish. So for me, we're going down to gulf to relax on some beaches in the nice warm weather. I will be brining my family, which is really just inviting my mom and dad on the trip. As a thank you to them for providing me with the genes and the means to become a professional hockey player, I will be paying for the whole trip. That signing bonus slaps and I'm gonna break the rule of "don't spend it all in one place". These resorts won't know what hit em. Although, not sure how I'll accomplish that with mom and dad around.

16) Goals - 6 TPE (312 words): As a recreate with a previous player who is surely a lock for the Hall of Fame and quite possibly the greatest defensemen of the new sim generation. My father, Puddles O'Duck, finished his career with the most goals ever and most assists ever for a defensemen. While some may argue that a defensemen should focus more on, you know, "defense" since it's in the name, the new era of hockey allows for and almost requires a defenseman to be more offensive. The breakout of Kale Makar is a prime example of that. And my father was this sims version of Kale Makar if he continues on with his current trajectory. So for Puddles O'Duckling, it feels selfish to make my goal to make the Hall of Fame again. I know it's a very difficult feat and it almost seems selfish and unrealistic to expect all the stars to align like they did with O'Duck. I didn't have any goals with him and it worked pretty damn well, so I think I'll keep that mostly the same. Hope for some really good peak seasons where I'm getting drafted in fantasy. This time around, I want to focus more on the defensive side of things (ironic since now I'm a forward). I would like to be Top 5 in hits at least once, and have the majority of my seasons be in the Top 10-20 range. So far so good as I nearly lead the SMJHL in hits last season as a rookie, only missing out by 1 hit. If Atlanta can copy some of the strategy and game play that Thunder Bay used, I should be in for a good time of crashing dudes through the boards. I'd also like to be on a consistent playoff team as all you gotta do is make it into the dance to have a chance.

3. Secret Plans

Well after a solid first season Chaos Giraffe and the Regina Elk are looking forward to taking a big step forward for next season. In the offseason Giraffe will be going embarking on a grueling regimen to stay in shape and build strength for S79. First thing he will do in the early morning will be to run a marathon. Perhaps his friend Teddy Bloos will join, but if not he is happy to do that himself. Giraffe enjoys running so it doesn't take him longer than maybe 5 hours to run one. After the run he plans on bulking up with his favorite foods, specifically pasta and pizza. Need those carbs to really fuel up for the rest of the day. After his run he will go for a swim. Do giraffes swim? Not sure. But anyways he definitely might want to cool down so a refreshing dip in the water will help. It also prepares him for his afternoon workout at the gym, courtesy of the Walleyes' spectacular facilities. And then he eats dinner, and chooses to do some yoga at night. That is his daily routine, and how he is going to gain a competitive edge over all the other SMJHL players.
On the team scale Giraffe has stealth skills from years of taking cookies off the top fridge shelf in his house. Partially inspired by his forays into the kitchen counters at night he will go on a grand tour of North America, visiting every SMJHL city in 10 days, from Anchorage all the way to Maine. When he arrives he will stop by each SMJHL arena and stuff jars of cookies into each player's locker. First he will bypass the gates at the front of every stadium by climbing up to the ceiling (he's really tall) and then breaking open the gates up top. He will slide through the vents and through the slits will see lockers. He will fall through the ceiling and voila Giraffe is in. Truly a master of chaos. Anyway he has jars and jars of cookies stashed in his backpack so delivers one jar to every locker. These cookies are unique because they actually taste good. Addictive of sorts. Once a player bites into one they won't want to do anything else other than eat, eat, eat. Then Chaos has kindly left them a sticker and business card of a totally random place in their city. For example in Colorado he sent the address of a random building in a town called Dinosaur. How far that is from Denver, Giraffe has no idea. Amazing work here. Then players will get so addicted to these cookies that they ain't gonna wanna play ball --errrr sorry hockey for the season. Real good plan here. Teams will forfeit the game because they love the cookies so much and no players are training. Giraffe will just be doing more cardio for the season as he skates around an empty rink statpadding by scoring into empty nets every five seconds.  First ever 200 goal season incoming, you heard it here folks.

16. Goals

Honestly with my player this time I just want to take it chill. Maybe because it's not as fresh as my first gen player I don't have as much motivation to do tasks for TPE anymore. However I'd still like to make it to the SHL and be a productive player there, maybe not a big award winner but someone who can play minutes reliably on a winning team. I've also had the privilege of enjoying several Challenge Cup Wins, and a variety of awards with my last player. 2k might not be in reach however mid 1k seems about right. I am happy with my PT grading job right now so that been providing me with good monies to use for training now. Maybe I get back into GMing one day who knows? I had fun with that my first run through so that certainly isn't out of the question for the future if I find that spark again to earn and build a squad.

17. Feedback

Yeah I love love LOVE Postseason Bonanza a lot more compared to Championship Week honestly. It feels much more better to write about prompts I enjoy talking about with no real word limit, versus having a set amount of TPE per question. Man it's not like I invented this system no way would I glaze myself so much like this right?
