7. Falcons I watched the Prospects Tournament Rookie Showdown that took place 9/25 through 9/27. I was on the Orange Team for this event and was very interested in this for several reasons. First, it was the first time my player, Quazon Brosonchi, would be up against the competition. How would he fare? Second, I was very interested to see how the graphical output of the simulation worked and looked.

From Orange team’s perspective, we were a force to be reckoned with. We wound up on top of the leaderboard after day with with a record of 5-0-1. I was a bit disappointed in Quazon’s performance this day, only recording two assists. On the second day, we followed a similar path. We finished the day with 7 wins, one sole loss, and two overtime losses which was still good enough for the top of the leaderboard. The final day was an emotional rollercoaster. In our five game series, we went up two games to none in the first two games, and then lost the last three in a row to ultimately lose the series. I was proud of Quazon’s performance, particularly in game 5, where he posted two of our three goals for the second star of the game. One of those goals was in the dying minutes of the third period to force overtime! Ultimately, this wasn’t enough, as green took the final game in overtime with a score of 3-2. Green earned the trophy with a stellar comeback series victory. (252)

7. October 10th: SMJHL S78 all-star game: South Allstars score first. North then responds through Bodine with a quick equalizer. Team North scored a second goal to take a 2-1 lead. Late in the 1st Team South gets a power play and equalises. A long shot bomb from Gorilla gives North the lead back to end the first period 3-2, North Allstars. It was a low-scoring 2nd period but In the dying seconds of the period, North would score once again through Hanak. 2nd ended 4-2 Team North. An errant pass by Team South is intercepted and McZerhi makes it 5-2 Northern Allstars. Halfway through the 3rd Kane scores his 2nd of the game to make it 5-3. 5 minutes later Samedi scores to make it a 5-4 game with 5 minutes left. The equalizer is then scored within a minute by Kane to secure his hat trick and tie the game. Southern All-Stars keep the pressure and Kondos scores to give South the lead with 3 minutes left. The buzzer signals the end and Team South won through a heroic comeback, 6-5. Kane was the MVP of the game after he helped Team South Allstars complete a surging comeback. (193 words)

7. Watch a Steam - Today was the live sim for Ottawa Highlanders vs the Great Fall Grizzlies, The Great Fall Grizzlies started off with a very nice lead 3-1 before the Highlanders quickly brought it back and made it 3-3 to start the second period. Both teams had stellar performances from goaltending and Defense as the 2nd period was scoreless. In the third period the Rookie LEO CARLSSON, Finds the game winning goal. He recently made a move to the wing and it seems to be paying off nicely as he has a wonderful performance and a goal to remember. It was an incredibly exciting game, and was very close until the very end. Easton Schaffer of the Ottawa Highlanders had a tremendous game, putting up 92 rating in the offense with 90 on the defensive end to have a full game rating of 91. He had 1 goal in 24 minutes on the ice. With Pavel Mintyukov having a not so stellar game, looking at his 45 rating for defense it was simply, not his night

SMJHL Day 1 stream - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZ5h1f0PU28

Colorado Game 1 at Maine - Colorado opened the season against defending Champions Maine Timber. Maine was throwing everything that they had on net with a total of 79 shots on goal. But Colorado won the slugfest of a match 8-6. Led by Baron Samedi's 4 assists.
Colorado Game 2 vs Maine - Maine comes to Colorado and despite the shots on goal heavily favoring Maine (67 to 30) , Colorado comes out on top again in this rematch 7-3. This time being led by Raw Cheese McPickle's 2 goals and 2 assists.
Colorado Game 3 vs Detroit - Colorado has given up over 50 shots on net again. Detroit throws 55 on target and this proved to be too much in this game as Detroit wins 4-2 and hands Colorado its first loss of the season.
Colorado Game 4 at Ottawa - Colorados first game outshooting their opponent. But Ottawa was able to capitalize on their Powerplay opportunities going 2 for 2, while Colorado missed on both of their chances. And that was the difference in the final score. Ottawa wins 6-4.

Live Sims
It was a bit surprising to see that there were no live sims for the opening sim.

Watch an SHL or SMJHL stream on YouTube

I watched the first simulation stream of this SMJHL season, which was my second ever SMJHL stream after the draft. I was actually a little excited to see what Uwe could do and how the whole thing would unfold. My Citadelles weren't up until the 10th game overall, so I could get familiar with the pace and procedure of the sim, with the background music being my favorite part - whatever over-excitement could have been there, the soothing sounds would have dampened it right there and then. We saw some big early results like the 10-1 win of Carolina and the 14 goal thriller between Colorado and Maine. And then we were up... To start with a 7-4 loss at San Diego, and Uwe having a stinker of a game. Then came another 7-4 loss at Anchorage... But Uwe got his first point. Luckily we beat St. Louis in the 3rd game of the sim round as a morale booster.
