Deep Dive #1 - Lord Raiden Career
#1

So my first player in this league, Lord Raiden, I created on May 14 2020. It was only a couple days before the S54 SMJHL draft. I saw a post on reddit and decided to give it a shot not having any idea or any knowledge of sim leagues. It was a reddit draft so the S55 class was pretty large. So the scouting that I got before draft was understandably late or last minute. But I believe it was Sunday morning, and the coGM (at that time) of the Colorado Raptors @LordBirdman reached out and we had a good talk. Still the draft started up and I had no clue what to expect, but I was finally drafted by Colorado in the 6th round 54th overall. It was a great experience in that first draft. But then it was time to show everyone why I was probably one of the best 6th round picks ever.
Lord Raiden played in Colorado for only 3 seasons, and had 43 goals 49 assists and 92 points in 150 games. Raiden was elected as one of Colorado's Captains in S55 but was not eligible for it in S56 as myself became coGM of Colorado in S56.
In S55, after one season with Colorado, Lord Raiden entered the S55 SHL draft. He had a little more hype on his side. He had a connection with the city of Baltimore and had great talks with them, then ultimately was drafted by the Platoon in the 2nd round 20th overall. Raiden still wanted to prove that teams really missed out on such a great player.
In S57, Lord Raiden was called up early to Baltimore, who was early in the rebuilding stages. In the first 3 seasons, Baltimore finished near the bottom each season. Raiden, along with all the teammates, did not enjoy successful stat-rich filled seasons. But in S60 Baltimore ended up a year ahead of schedule and all their young guns surprsied the league and finished 3rd in the regular season and then losing in the 2nd round to rivals Atlanta. So for the next few seasons, Baltimore was a powerhouse in the league. Lord Raiden was never the superstar player or the offensive focal point. But he was a hard-nosed, two-way player that was extremely dependable. He was a role player but an important one. From S61-S64, Raiden finished around 4th to 6th in points on the team. Then the run ended, Baltimore was never able to secure the Challenge Cup with the core players and in S65 the downfall started. All Baltimores top players started leaving or retiring. All but Lord Raiden. Raiden remained with the team that believed in him from the beginning. S66 was a rough season, Baltimore finished 17th in the league and Raiden produced one of his worst seasons since being called up. (only had 45 points). In S67, everyone was pretty much gone, and Raiden remained. He decided to put in the work and still show that he can get it done. Even though Baltimore finished 18th in the league, Lord Raiden produced his best season statiscally in his career. He scored 30 goals (only did it twice) and put up 82 points. Led by Raiden, Baltimore had a decent season in S68 where Raiden scored 33 goals.
In S69 and S70, Lord Raiden showed he was one of the league best defensive forwards, nominated both seasons for the Jeff Darr Award, even though Baltimore was back in hard rebuild stages and finishing at the bottom of the league. S71 came with a wave of younger players. Baltimore was finally out of the rebuild again. And with that, the younger players started getting better and better, and Raiden started regressing more and more. Raiden with Baltimore for 3 more seasons in S71-S73. Baltimore had an influx of up and coming prospects and that left Raiden as the odd man out. Raiden knew it was only a matter of time and its part of the game. Plus if it made the team that he played 17 seasons for better in the end thats all that matters.
Lord Raiden served as the teams Captain from S68 to S73.
Raiden played for 5 more seasons on rebuilding teams (2 with Toronto in S74-S75, and 3 with Edmonton S76-S78). Shile with Edmonton, Raiden was named Captain for all 3 seasons. And while it was still fun playing the game he loves, Raiden realized that he was not really helping the team as he got older. So he made the tough decision to retire at the end of the S78 season.

So Lord Raiden played a total of 25 seasons - 3 seasons in SMJHL and 22 seasons in the SHL. His shl career final stats
Games Played - 1452 (can't say for sure ranking on this)
Goals - 414 (31st alltime)
Assists - 723 (6th alltime)
*as of now Raiden is one of 6 players to have 400+ goals and 700+ assists
Points - 1137 (12th alltime)
SOG- 3606 (23rd alltime)
Hits- 2169 (34th alltime)
SB- 1248 (123rd alltime)
PowerPlay Points - 214

Lord Raiden was the last player in the S55 class to retire.
