Cristoforo Roccamontepiano. My number one pick for this years MVP title. Had just a dominant year, scoring 52 goals and adding 66 assists, he really did it all this year! He was also dynamic on the power play leading the league with 25 PPGs. Not to mention his defensive ability at keeping the puck out of the net. I think he’s a no brainer winner of this seasons MVP. Below I’ll mention another player who I think could be a sneaky MVP pick this year.

My other potential winner this year is the highly touted, goal scoring champion of the year Valtteri Pulkkinen. The man was on a mission this year, scoring 55 goals on the season. He accomplished this mostly at even strength which I believe puts him in the running of the MvP. Unlike our other candidate, Pulkkinen only scored 15/55 goals on the power play. Being able to contribute at even strength is incredibly important in this league and that’s why I think there could be a surprise winner!

When looking at the cold hard facts, I have a few nominees for the MVP for Season 79. The top candidate being Cristoforo Roccamontepiano. Not only has he led the Quebec City Citadels to the being the first place team, but Cristoforo leads the league in points and has nearly half his goals on the power play. Another candidate would have to be Peter. The staunch defensemen on the Quebec City Citadels. Peter leads the defensemen in goals, second in points and plus/minus. Lastly, I believe another solid candidate for MVP is Katharina Rosenthal. Katharina Had the second most wins, the lowest Goals Against Average (GAA) and is a big reason why the Newfoundland Berserkers finished in 2nd place in the league as the stats show they have a well rounded team but put more of their emphasis on defense. Katharina also had the 3rd highest Goals Saved Above Average (GSAA) with an impressive 11.72. As everyone knows, a hot goalie can win championships and with the playoffs coming up, Katharina has my 1st overall ballot.

Being MVP means being the best player on the ice at all times. You can't just score a whole bunch of goals and expect glory and accolades to just fall to you. No you need to prove yourself that night in and night out that you by far and away the best player in this league. That is what the MVP trophy should be representing. Sometimes we lose sight of that fact because we look to the people with the highest point totals or insane power play runs and give them the title, but when we look at the standings this year, there is a clear team on top in Quebec City and a clear MVP candidate

Cristoforo Roccamontepiano. When you are Top 2 in both assists and goals, giving you the virtue of leading the league in points, when you are clutch on Power play like he is with 25 goals and when you lead your team to being the clear 1 seed in the playoffs, you have earned your spot as MVP

There are certainly a few different players that could win the MVP this year, but I definitely have my own picks.

First off, is Cristoforo Roccamontepiano, who spent a majority of the season towards the top of the leaderboard for both scoring and assists, as well as still leading the points category. Given that Quebec has made it to the top of the standings for this season, it is in no small part due to the outstanding actions of this player.

Next up, Jacppo Nummilavin. He is currently the points leader for defensemen, and leads all defensemen in assists and is not too far behind on goals as well. Obviously, defensemen aren't ranked on their abilities for scoring, but his additions in the defensive end are also a large portion of why Maine has been so competitive this year.

Lastly. Dolph. As the leader in the wins category, Dolph has helped to backstop a very strong Carolina team. He leads the league in wins, is in the top 5 for saves, and is in the top 10 for GAA and GSAA. As someone who has been stuck on the opposite end of the goaltending spectrum, I commend him for doing such an excellent job on such a high workload.

The season 79 SMJHL MVP race has been a interesting one, where one player has lead the race for most of the season we have seen a few contenders emerge in the later stages. All of which could have an argument made in their names.

QCC's Cristoforo Roccamontepiano is the one who had the award all but secured through the majority of the season. Unfortunately in sim leagues we don't have anything to go off of other than a stat line, and Cristoforo has lead the league in point for pretty well the entirely if season 79.

That being said, the Maine Timber as a whole have really stepped up their game through the latter half of the season led by one player in particular - Doug Weight. Doug has put their playmaking abilities on display, racking up a whopping 79 assists which is good enough to lead the league by a margin of 13.

While Cristoforo is undoubtedly an incredible player, for Doug to have led Maine from the middle of the pack to the top, and to dominate in assists the way he has, I think he's got my vote.

The front-runner for the MVP for this season of SMJHL is Cristoforo Roccamontepiano, who has had an excellent season, having 118 points in 66 games, which is near 2PPG, along with that having a 52 goal season which is a massive increase from the 33 he had last season.
The 2 and 3 candidates for the MVP are both from the Timber

, May O'Nayse who had 112 points in 66 games, which consists of 50 goals and 62 assists, and Doug Weight who had 109 points in 66 games, but the split is 30 goals and 79 assists.

It's a very close race, it can go either way for any one of these players, however the extra 6 points in the same span of games, while also not having the same quality of team-mates May and Doug had, as the second highest scorer for QCC only had 100 points, meanwhile for the Timber

they had 2 players who has 109 points, and 1 player with 112. Cristoforo had to carry his team, compared to the other candidates who could easily split the load.

The Ideen Fallah Trophy, SMJHL MVP, is one of the most coveted awards in all of history. While there are several players who could be worthy, there can only be one who is deemed the new winner. So with that these are my 3 MVP nominees.

Cristoforo Roccamontepiano, obviously the SMJHL points leader gets a nom. Roccamontepiano is second in goals and 2nd in points. With 25 powerplay goals nd 47 Powerplay points its hard to not include this player on any list.

Doug Weight. The playmaking machine. Weight's league leading 79 assists are 13 more than the next player. Weight also is a monster on the powerplay as well with 32 assists and 46 points. Weight is a top contender for MVP

Baron Samedi. Probably a homer pick but also a well deserving nomination. Samedi did everything for Colorado. 48 goals, 45 assists, and 93 points. Samedi is only one of two Colorado players with more than 70 points. Samedi is another deserving MVP nod.

The S79 SMJHL MVP frontrunners for me are: Cristoforo Roccamontepiano, Valtteri Pulkkinen, and May O'Nayse.
Cristoforo Roccamontepiano leads all skaters in points with 52 goals and 66 assists totaling up to 118 points. Cristoforo's power play goals sits at the top of the league by a large margin with 25 goals. The next highest ppg is sitting at 16 goals. Cristoforo has been a phenomenal player for the QCC.

Valtteri Pulkkinen is the leading goal scorer in the SMJHL with 55 goals in 66 games played with a 16.3% shooting percentage. The Maine Timber's top players have been juggernauts all season. Pulkkinen has 54 apples as well.

May O'Nayse is another player on Maine Timber. O'Nayse has 112 points with 50 goals and 62 assists. O'Nayse has been one of the best wingers in the league and has developed on the Timber's since S76.

The MVP battle is fierce as there are many good cases for the MVP. However, there can only be one MVP. Cristoforo has to be the most favored player in the leauge as of right now. The Timber players are very good but they have each other to improve their play. Cristoforo has been driving the team to the top all season.
