Celly grew up doing theatre alongside their multi sport lifestyle, so they're very good at riffing in conversation off of what's given to them. Given that Manhattan is now out of the playoffs, they don't have much to discuss aside from riffing off the past season and maybe on what's ahead for the team next season. It's pretty easy to feign confidence when you're talking about things that you actually have good knowledge about and when you're taking it in a more lighthearted way, so that's what they do.
Plus, it's always a bonus to show some personality and maybe get the fanbase to buy in just that little bit more, so that's what they do. They were drafted way too high to Not Do That, unfortunately, and maybe a little part of them sees it as a duty, but hey, it is what it is.
(Honestly, they mostly just get asked about their year over year improvement and quest towards returning to point per game status.)

Elaina Beneski has way too high an opinion of herself to do either the smartest thing (decline the invitation to participate) or the second smartest thing (prepare throughly so she won't embarrass herself). It's on. I expect she'll get into contact with her old friend, Kosmo Kramerev. Kosmo has extremely eclectic tastes and odds are he's already had some sort of run in with whatever obscure sport this other league plays (baseball or something equally perverse, I don't know).

The money doesn't hurt either. In Alaska, your pitiful mainland USA inflation is like a little baby inflation, crying and pooping itself. Do you know what it costs to get and imported wine into Anchorage in the dead of winter?

The commentary does not go well. Elaina tried to memorize a few phrases Kosmo used to describe play, but she does not understand what is going on well enough to use them, and it shows.

I imagine that Roisin would probably take the money and spend the next 11 hours doing as much research as she could on the sport, likely to prepare for the colour commentator. Odds are that they would wing whatever they couldn’t prepare for, but I think this is where something uniqre happens. I think that given Roisin’s previous experience with media and commentator would go a lot way towards helping her prepare for her appearance on the show. I imagine that she would do quite well as commentator, with her personality/commentary largely winning over the skeptical viewers. Yet with that being said, I do imagine that she would struggle somewhat when it comes to getting the finer points or details of the sport down. This I imagine would cause a fair bit of stumbling at times, but otherwise it would be a minor issue. All told, Roisin should do well and would be one of the more memorable guest stars brought onto the program.

Do they make a fool of themselves or are they charismatic enough to make a good guest star?

Cal Juice was asked to come on to a baseball broadcast. Unfortunately not only does he not know anything about baseball, he hates it! But they have to accept the massive amount of money because he could do a lot of good with it. He doesn't prepare for the broadcast though, instead he decides to wing it and see what happens. I think everyone knows that he's a hockey player so there shouldn't be an expectation for him to know very much and the rest he can get from context clues. He doesn't make a fool of himself but I think most people watching know that he's really just there to be a pretty face and provide some crossover fans to the PBE. By the end of the broadcast he's able to see what people like about baseball but still isn't super into it. After the game he accepts that check and uses the money to open an unhoused peoples shelter in Chicago.

Option 2:

If Matiss got invited to do a broadcast for a sport that he knew nothing about he definitely would want to participate to have a fun experience and to learn about something new. He would most likely do color commentary because that would be the least amount of speaking and majority of the things you say as a color commentator you are reading off of a fact sheet which should be fairly easy to do. Matiss would prepare by watching and researching as much of the sport that he could in the next 12 hours to be able to do the best that he can and hopefully he won’t have to say too many things during the broadcast. The broadcast went great and there were mess ups but everything worked out in the end. Matiss found a new sport that he now likes to watch and will be following more often after having participated in the broadcast.

Turtle Bob is pretty knowledgeable about sports but one time back in the day he accepted an offer from the SBA to be an announcer for their small star game. Well what a very poor decision that ended up being. Bob knew nothing about the basketball league or the players in it. He just had a connection with the league through the Cuffy player agency. Cuffy has had multiple Hall of Fame players go through the SBA so Bob thought it was a good opportunity to get some popularity from the basketball association. Right from the get go Bob announces the wrong players heading for the jump ball he thought the Point guards were supposed to jump for the initial jump ball but in reality it’s the big tall center who go for that initial jump. Then when he was announcing the MVP of the game ( the best player at the time was Zach Cuff Jr he blew that completely (even though it was his agencies own player) and ended up awarding Ball Hard D Waiters the MVP of the game but really it was supposed to go to ZCJ

My interview I feel went pretty well, I wasn't nervous, and I thought I did pretty well on the desk. I don't think I gave the standard hockey answers and I feel like I answered most of them pretty well. I cracked a few jokes and felt really confident, I think I did a good job breaking down what to expect from the Atlanta match up and how we might be able to go after them. I told them as long as the defense holds up our offense will get us over the line this series and that I believed that the defense was one of our biggest strengths. All in all I think the experience was a good one and I would love to go back, even one of the producers told me that I have a seat at the desk waiting for me when I retire if I want it.

Okay so, the most expectable thing would be preparing a whole jar of coffee to delve over and binge ludicrous amounts of content in the following say, 6 hours. It's true that no matter how much content you consume it could never match the first-hand experience that comes from playing the sport. Instead, the focus of his endeavours would be to get well-acquainted with the rules barring edge-cases, get familiar with modern trends and at least briefings about why any of those tactics, plays and such come to happen, and if possible, get to know at least what people or teams are involved!

Knowing the bare-minimum and leaving logistics behind, instead of trying to look like a conosseour, he'd instead lean on his strengths, extrapolating trends and common themes from somewhere he's more familiar with and can draw a plausible connection so that he can actually add onto the commentary to some extent without being limited to being a pretty face with a great smile. Admiteddly, he has both to boast, but that's not the point! And lastly, absolutely making himself presentable, prepare a few jokes or lines ahead of time that he could use as a clutch if needed be and as always, try to be both entertaining and inviting to the audience.

Honestly for a huge amount of money I would do pretty much anything. In twelve hours you can do a lot of reading and prep work so I would gladly take it and start cracking at it. I think you can learn most sports and how it works in far less than twelve hours so this should not be too hard of a challenge. And even if I made some mistakes and a fool of myself I would have a large bag of cash that will make me smile anyway and who cares what other people think. I am becoming an old man in this league so I have to grab everything I can get before retirement is coming. I did not plan to start working a corporate job after my SHL career is over just to get by and pay the bills. I have a reputation to uphold and a life style I am not willing to part with.
