2. East has interesting mix of top scoring players who finished on top 15 on points. How would you mix these players up to create best 2 forward lines?

For the East, Tony Soprano is the center and can really do it all. Will likely be the primary scorer on the line but put him with other shooters and he would be great in a playmaker role. On his wings I would put a bona-fide playmaker like Antoine Beauregard. He led the league in assists with 65 but also chipped in 38 goals. Those two together will be very dangerous. On the left wing I'd put jiggle E Puff. Only one assist shy of Beauregard will have no wrong outlet as both Soprano and Bearegard have great finishing ability. 98

For the West, Chris Valentine is a lock as the top center, he led the league in goals and points and made it seem effortless. He would likely be best anchoring a line of teammates Logan Webb and Domonic Winters. Webb was right on Valentines heels all year finishing one point behind him for the league lead in both goals and points. That combo will be very had for the east to deal with. Rounding out the line is Webbs partner in crime and chief playmaker Winters. He tied for the league lead in assists and finished 3rd in points. 100

I think the edge in this match up goes to the west. It's hard to compete against the top 3 scoring forwards in the league, and while it will come down to chemistry, having 2 teammates on the top line gives an even bigger edge to the west.

3. On West you could build D pairs out of teammates or rivals as both Los Angels and San Fransisco sends 2 defencemen. Which one you’d choose and for why?

I would choose teammates. The chemistry between them is hard to build and invaluable during the season. Having that 6th sense and confidence knowing that if you pinch your D partner will back you up allows them to play fast and loose which will come in handy in an all star game format.

5. This time the games are hosted in Minnesota. How would players spend their time in Twin Cities? (113 words, +2 TPE)
As a prospect for the Monarchs, I feel like this is the perfect question for me to answer given that I will be playing in this city within a couple of seasons (but not before I win Anchorage the cup that they deserve). Minneapolis has a lot of things to do, but since I like to spend my free time being a nerd I would suggest going to the Minneapolis Institute of Art (art museum! i love art museums) and the American Swedish Institute (Minnesota has a lot of people with Nordic heritage, and I'm sure the museum would also have something about hockey given that both Minnesota and Sweden love their hockey).

6. Your player starts practicing a skill that has nothing to do with hockey, what do they do and how it goes? (120 words, +2 TPE)
Dieter Frühstück has long yearned to become a ski jumper. Germans love their winter sports, whether it be skiing, ski jumping, luge, skeleton, or bobsled. However, Dieter is absolutely massive (6'9", 275 lbs), which means that a sport like luge, skeleton, or bobsled, despite them being super fun, won't work for him due to the small confines of each sled. So, as a long-time skier, Dieter decided to take up ski jumping. He even managed to qualify for the German national team and participated in a FIS Ski Jumping World Cup event in Oberstdorf, Germany, where he finished last. It's still a great accomplishment for Dieter, who knows he has another sport to fall back on if hockey doesn't work.

7. What would be your starting lineup, 3 forwards, 2 defencemen and a goalie for one of the SMJHL conferences? (140 words, +2 TPE)
I'm picking a roster for my SMJHL conference, the Northern Conference. Here's my choices:

GreatOne - Roccamontepiano - Beneski
Peter - Bodine
Rosenthal

The GreatOne - 93 points. Perfect for the right wing.
Cristoforo Roccamontepiano - led the league in scoring. Why wouldn't he start?
Elaina Beneski - sneaky pick, but as a teammate of mine I can confirm that Beneski is indeed very good at hockey.
Peter - one name, doesn't matter. Finished second in the league in scoring for defenseman, and with 67 was a ppg as a blueliner.
Javelin Bodine - yet another player that I play with, this time on my pairing (the top one baby!). Provides all of the offense for us so I can focus on doing my defense.
Katharina Rosenthal - had better stats than QCCBOT4, which is impressive considering QCC was by far the best team in the SMJHL this year.

8. Written, 50 to 200+ words. The Teammate One

Trevor Lahey was an obvious choice to go to the all star game for the Hamilton Steelhawks. There are a couple of good reasons, but the main good reason is that he was far and away the best player on the Steelhawks this season. The secondary good reason is that the committee has to nominate someone from each team. It's no secret that Hamilton didn't have a great season, but don't tell Trevor that, cause he kinda popped off. 97 points, with almost an even split of 43 goals and 54 assists, would be a GREAT season on any team. But I feel like that kinda holds a bit more water when you take into account that Hamilton was not a great team. Hell, they weren't even a good team. Hamilton finished with the 3rd worst record in the league, yet Trevor Lahey almost hit 100 points and only was -10 on the season for a team that scored 231 goals and had 340 goals scored against. I don't think I need to really explain how impressive that actually is. Trevor scored close to 20% of the teams goals BY HIMSELF. So yeah, he belongs in the all star game not because he's a mandatory shoo-in by the committee, but because he is ELITE. (200+ words, 4 TPE)

10. Written, 50 to 200+ words. Last Player In

Look, I know that people get into the all star game based on their performance stat-wise throughout the regular season. That's how it should be...typically. What I'm getting at is that every now and then there's a generational talent that defies any sort of typical reasoning. A talent that requires you to defy any norm in judging criteria and just throw your hands up while letting them take what is rightfully theirs. Of course, the talent I'm referring to is Olof Karsikko. The legendary Wolfpack goaltender may have put up some seemingly pedestrian numbers at first glance. He started 28 games, winning 15 with a respectable save percentage of .909 and 1 shutout. But one thing that doesn't show up on the stat sheet is championship pedigree. All Olof has ever known is winning. You think Five Hole Sieve would've been the goaltender he is without Olof's support? You think New England would've entered the playoffs as a favorite (losing in the first round ultimately, but in upset fashion) without Olof's imposing aura? Hell, maybe they'd have gone all the way with Olof in between the pipes for the playoffs! You never know. But what I do know is that Olof deserves to be in every all star game as long as he draws breath, and maybe even some after that. (200+ words, 4 TPE)

I googled the best attractions in the Twin cities and theres no shortage of great museum's, theater's and gardens to visit, but one thing in particular stuck out to me that I remember from my childhood that is so American and so over the top, it has to be seen. That would be the Mall of America. Completely pointless and wild to think a mall, let alone the biggest could still survive in this climate when most are closing, but its so much more than just a ton of stores to spend your SHL bucks in. For starters theres Sealife, the aquarium, theres a 5D extreme experience that is insanely unique. Have I mentioned there's also a roller coaster to ride at Nickelodeon Universe? Or how about some Blacklight MiniGolf if Moose Mountain isnt your cup of tea. Oh and if you still year for more entertainment, you could check out the FlyOver America flight simulator. Needless to say theres no shortage of attractions and things to do, and you'd probably need more than a single day to fit them all in, but you can't say you'd be bored, because if you cant find something here to do or occupy your time, you probably won't anywhere else either.

All-Star games are usually hosted by SHL or SMJHL team but what if it wasn’t so? If you would like to grow the game on new market having an exhibition game with all the best players in the leagues could be good kickstart, or maybe it could revitalize an old market that might have had their team moved in the past? If you were to hold games outside of current teams, where you would take the games and why?
I think we go crazy and unique and take it to a place that garners a ton of attention for the sport and the players. So think of the most unorthodox place to have it and this will be even more outrageous..... got it yet? Thats right, on the helipad of the Burj El Arab Jumeirah. If RedBull can land a plane on this iconic 7 star hotel, why cant we construct a clear dome thats ventilated for ice that can house a game? Wild? Absolutely. Insane? Most definitely. Attention grabbing? Umm yeah!. Not only is it the desert where playing ice hockey out door is a preposterous proposition, but then add in the fact that you're doing it almost 700 feet in the air and it gets even crazier. Nobody would miss out on seeing this one of a kind matchup and opportunity if it were broadcast, and I dont think it'd be hard to convince the likes of Red Bull and other great sponsors to  get on board. Think you'd get some new eyes and interest in the league? Oh for sure. People not even intimately familiar with the sport would tune in for this once in a liftime sporting spectacle.

Tell me about your teammate who made the all star game! Who are they, why were they an obvious choice to make the All Star roster, and what do you expect from them this ASG? If you are the only player on your team selected for the all star game so far, write about your team's candidate for last man instead.)

9. Written, 50 to 200+ words. Balancing It Out
Four out of top 5 teams in the league were from teams in the West but East took all spots from 6 to 11. This is also pretty clear when you look at selection of players that made the All-star game, West being more focused on those few teams on top while East has more balanced approach with 5 teams sending two or more players. Which of the teams you expect to win the game and why?

At the end of the day Hall of Fame is very exclusive club of players. This means that many players with great careers still can easily not make it, depending on how many awards or all-star nods they might get during their career along with general recognition. So who in you opinion should have made it? Is it someone who got snubbed in your opinion or someone who’s contribution wasn’t really recognized outside their own team? Who and why you would have liked to see being inducted to hall?

Code:
13. Written, 50 to 200+ words. I Have Your Back
