Shiny Grab Bag 3.) Again, I'm going with keeping the players that are on the same team together. Especially when it's two rival teams I think the only reason to mix the players up would be to cause chaos amongst those teams and I'm really more of a sit quietly and hope things go well kind of person than a stirring shit up person. 5.) I think players would spend most of their time indoors, Minnesota is cold as heck. I would expect there to be an event at the Mall of America and I'm pretty sure there's a roller coaster in there so maybe they would ride on that. Then there are some great places to eat so there'd be a fancy meal at downtown restaurant for sure.

5. When we hit Minnesota for the games, you already know I made it an adventure. First stop? Mall of America. Not for shopping—I was there to crush the indoor roller coasters. After that, I hit up Minnehaha Falls. Took a few selfies, posted them online, and my fans went wild. Dinner? Obviously, a Juicy Lucy—legendary. Fans were snapping pics of me mid-bite like I was the main event. I even swung by local rinks, signing autographs for kids who’ll tell their grandkids about meeting me. Minnesota didn’t just host me; it got the full Grindle experience. Unforgettable—for them, obviously. 100 words - 2 TPE 6. Breakdancing? Yeah, I picked it up. Why? Because I can. I figured if I could kill it on the ice, why not on the dance floor too? At first, I looked like a giraffe on skates trying to moonwalk, but come on, this is me we’re talking about. A few bruises and some busted moves later, I had it down. Spins, freezes, the works. Now? I’m pulling out windmills after every goal, leaving fans losing their minds. Grindle doesn’t just play hockey—he entertains. Breakdancing on the ice? Only I could make that a thing. Go ahead, try to keep up. 100 words - 2 TPE 7. Here’s how I’d dominate for the north: Forwards? Me, Roccamontepiano, Belinski. Scoring machines. Defence? Peter and Javelin Bodine—puck-moving wizards. Goalie? Meow Kittenson—cool cat under pressure. Put this squad together, and it’s game over for the other side. They’ve got everything: firepower, finesse, and a brick wall in net. Easy dubs. 50 words

Task 1: Milestones: https://www.simulationhockey.com/showthr...pid3598439 (+1 TPE)
Task 3: This question boils down to the temperaments of the specific defenders that get picked. However, my personal option would be to split up the teammates and put the ‘rivals’ on the ice together. My reasoning for this is that by mixing the two teams together you get a defense that is more than the sum of its parts. The GM can work with the players to figure out how best they can cover each other’s weaknesses, and it wouldn’t be as easy for East to counterplay them, since it wouldn’t just be one of the lines they’d played against all season when they played the Panthers or the Pride. I think the players would probably go for it too, since they could go back to their home teams with more knowledge not only about the opponent’s tactics but having learned a little more themselves from a new perspective. From personal experience, most players that are worth having on an all star team have more respect for skilled opponents than dislike or resentment, and would take the opportunity to improve without a moment’s hesitation. If they wouldn’t take that chance… frankly, they won't make it to the all star team again, methinks. (201 words, 4 TPE) Task 6: James Howlett would get back to his rural Canadian roots and try to practice survivalism in his spare time. Camping, cooking over fires, hunting, the whole shebang. Unfortunately, All of these are not only time consuming but require travelling a sizeable distance outside of Calgary, which can be hard to maintain during the season. Combine that with the amount of permits and red tape he’d have to deal with, and that fell through pretty quickly. What stuck with him from this attempt though was an interest in woodcarving. What started as something simple and easy to do while in the wilderness turned into a fascination with techniques, tools, and styles for carving. Nothing gets his blood pumping more nowadays than revving up his chainsaw and going to town on a big log for a couple of hours, only to finish with a beautiful Wolverine carving. (Except hockey, of course. That’ll always take the top spot.) (155 words, 3 TPE)

Here. 6. Your player starts practicing a skill that has nothing to do with hockey, what do they do and how it goes? Well most teams in the league know that The Ottawa Highlanders are known for their hotdog stands in and around their home barn. This is because a majority of the team spends time either making their own food. You can find weird Swedish food like @Rojjter tends to eat each morning, whenever they are actually able to wake up in the morning, that is. When the highlanders are just getting out of practice, they will often spend time trying out the new experimental hotdogs that Hotdog Lunch will make from his food truck that he converted into a mobile home for traveling on the road. Since my player was always just a simple ice farmer, he tries to cook new things whenever possible. [123 Words]

(+3 TPE) 8. The Teammate One: (+4 TPE / 268 words) There are two players who are selected in the SMJHL Awards that I want to talk about at it’s Baron Samedi and Meowir Kittenson. Baron is the #1 center for the Colorado Raptors last season, and he was a phenomenal athlete. In fact, he managed to score 93 points (48 goals and 45 assists) during the regular season. So that’s why he was an obvious choice since he led the team to the points and was an unstoppable player on the ice against the opponents. During the playoffs, he managed to score 28 points (8 goals and 20 assists) in 21 games. He is the type of player that the all-star committee members watched on and on to get a spot for Baron in the All-Star games. On the other hand, Meowir Kittenson is the goalie that make the difference with the Colorado Raptors last season. In fact, during his first rookie year, Kittenson managed to make a 22-9-2 record with a save percentage of .892 and a goal against average of 3.62, which are some good statistics for a goalie. He helped the team to get a good spot for the playoffs, which was a Cinderella story! In fact, with the amazing saves that he made during the playoffs, the Raptors managed to sweep the Detroit Eagles and upset 2 favourite teams: the Maine Timber and the Carolina Kraken, to secure a spot in the finale. Sadly, they lost in 5 games against the Québec City Citadels on a double overtime heartbreak loss. During the 20 games that Kittenson played, he managed to make a 11-6-1 record. 7. (+1 TPE / 99 words): What would be your starting lineup, 3 forwards, 2 defencemen and a goalie for one of the SMJHL conferences?: For the all-stars lineups in the SMJHL, I had an idea for the starting lineup: For the Northern Conference: Center is going to be Cristoforo Roccamontepiano. In the wings, it’s going to be TheGreatOne and Christina Fantobens. For the defense, it’s going to be Argenti Gorilla and Peter. In the goals, it’s going to be QCCBOT4. For the Southern Conference: Center is going to be Baron Samedi. In the wings, it’s going to be Louis Bélanger and Felix Carlsson. For the defense, it’s going to be Ty Justice and Matthias. In the goals, it’s going to be Meowlnir Kittenson. I Have Your Back From my perspective, Jiggle E Puff is the Atlanta Inferno’s leading candidate for the Ron Mexico Trophy, awarded to the league’s most valuable player. As a forward, Jiggle has been nothing short of phenomenal this season, delivering game-changing performances night after night. Their ability to score clutch goals, set up teammates with pinpoint passes, and dominate puck possession makes them the offensive engine that drives our team’s success. Jiggle’s stats speak for themselves—leading the league in points and proving to be the most consistent threat on the ice. They’ve not only been a force during even-strength play but have also been the cornerstone of our power play, racking up goals and assists at a league-best pace. But Jiggle’s impact goes beyond the numbers. Their leadership and ability to elevate their linemates’ play have been instrumental in our strong season, making them indispensable to our team’s success. Do I think Jiggle has a shot at the nomination? Absolutely. They’ve proven time and time again that they’re not just one of the best players on our team but one of the best in the entire league. The Ron Mexico Trophy should go to the player who truly embodies what it means to be valuable, and that’s Jiggle E Puff through and through. If the voters are paying attention, Jiggle’s name should be front and center in this race. Quote:11. Written, 50 to 200+ words. Thinking Out Of The Box If the SHL All-Star Game were to step outside the usual hosting cities, I’d love to see it held in a place that could grow the game or reignite passion for hockey—like Houston, Texas. Houston has a rich sports culture, a massive population, and a history with hockey, as it was once home to the Houston Aeros. Hosting an All-Star Game there could serve as a trial balloon for expanding the SHL into untapped southern markets, showcasing hockey to fans who might not otherwise have the chance to experience the game at its highest level. The appeal of hosting in Houston lies in its potential to draw new fans. Texas has shown with the success of the Dallas Stars that hockey can thrive in warmer climates, and a marquee event like the All-Star Game would help bridge the gap between casual sports fans and die-hard hockey lovers. The league could incorporate local flavor into the event—imagine pregame festivities featuring Texas barbecue, country music performances, or even an outdoor skills competition in a uniquely Texan setting. This move wouldn’t just grow the game but also honor Houston’s history as a hockey town. Giving the city a chance to host the league’s best could spark renewed interest, turning Houston into a potential SHL expansion hub and proving that hockey truly is for everyone, everywhere. It’s time to think bigger—and Houston would be a perfect place to start.

8.This time the games are hosted in Minnesota. How would players spend their time in Twin Cities?
Players taking part in the all star game held in Minnesota would dedicate their time in the Twin Cities discovering a lively blend of athletics, culture, and food. In their free time, players can explore the famous Mall of America for shopping and fun, dive into the vibrant arts culture by visiting the Walker Art Center or watching a show at the historic Guthrie Theater. To experience local flavor, they can enjoy tasty dishes at famous restaurants such as Spoon and Stable or eat at food trucks providing an array of options. Nature lovers can take advantage of the many parks and lakes nearby, including Minnehaha Park and Lake Harriet, for pursuits like biking, hiking, or paddleboarding. To relax, players can enjoy the vibrant craft beer culture in the Twin Cities by exploring breweries such as Surly Brewing Co or Indeed Brewing Company. In general, participants would experience a variety of activities to appreciate in the Twin Cities while attending the games in Minnesota. 166 words +3 tpe https://simulationhockey.com/showthread....pid3600124 +3 tpe 9. Written, 50 to 200+ words. Balancing It Out Four out of top 5 teams in the league were from teams in the West but East took all spots from 6 to 11. This is also pretty clear when you look at selection of players that made the All-star game, West being more focused on those few teams on top while East has more balanced approach with 5 teams sending two or more players. Which of the teams you expect to win the game and why? Based on the statistics provided, it is evident that the Western Conference teams dominated the top spots in the league standings and had a more concentrated representation in the All-Star game, while the Eastern Conference teams displayed a more balanced distribution of players across multiple teams. In a game scenario, the West teams' focus on elite talent and top-heavy roster strength may give them an advantage in terms of star power and individual impact. However, the East's depth and collective approach, with multiple teams contributing significant talent, could lead to a more cohesive and well-rounded performance. Ultimately, the outcome of the game may hinge on the effectiveness of team chemistry and strategy, with the East potentially having the edge in terms of versatility and shared workload among its players. 129 words

+2 TPE Milestones 6. (2 TPE) Honestly, its obvious what Solaire would do if he were to do anything outside of hockey, and no one would expect it, it would be that he is a poet. You can tell that he just has such a knack for writing, and doing greatness in it. He has such a beautiful writing style, and rhythm style that he would be the greatest poet of the Dark Souls universe and in turn the greatest one of this world. It would be quite shocking how much that Solaire would really just be able to recite some great poems and just show the world why he’s a poet if not a hockey player. (111 words) 9. (2 TPE) Obviously, it would be the West that would win it all if no other reason then the fact that the Winnipeg Aurora are in the West and that is Solaire’s team. So obviously, with four of the top 5 teams in the west, the west also have the best players and therefore would be the best in the All-star game, because well, duh, West is best. But in all honesty, it would be quite the close game, but just with the West taking it simply because the best teams usually have the best players, and in turn with the 4 of the top 5 teams, the best players are in the west. (112 words) 5. (2 TPE) There aren’t many things you would normally think of to do in the Twin Cities, but there is one major thing that most of the players that went to the game would be, and that would be the Mall of America. When you go to the Mall of America, there are just so many different things and different options to do, to go to, just to really enjoy and vibe out there. The Mall of America has something for anyone and everyone, so every player that went would end up having a great time and having the ability to really get into whatever they wanted to. (106 words)

Shiny Grab Bag 3. On West you could build D pairs out of teammates or rivals as both Los Angels and San Fransisco sends 2 defencemen. Which one you’d choose and for why? I'm not even going to try and fight my homer bias here. I'd be picking Elena Maximova and Willow Soderberg-Snooks as my two defenders. I've had the pleasure of having both of them on my team this season and I couldn't be more impressed with them. There aren't any more two deserving defenders in the game. Their combination of skill and grit has them making defense look easy. I know whomever is going to be the starting West goalie (cough, Grzegorz Brzeczyszczykiewicz for sure, cough) will appreciate them being the two top defenders on the team over whomever the guys from that other team are. 105 words. 4. Which of the goalies you would have starting for each team? Grzegorz Brzeczyszczykiewicz is the obvious answer for the starting goalie for the Western team. How could you say anyone else? He's a proven commodity and the best goalie in the entire league. For the Eastern team, you've gotta go with Rebecca Montagne after what they've done this season. Not as good as Grzegorz of course but still respectable. 58 words. 9. Written, 50 to 200+ words. Which of the teams you expect to win the game and why? Let's face it, as the league stands right now, almost all of the power is in the Western conference. With absolute rock stars like Chris Valentine, Derek Martin and Logan Webb on their team, I'm going to have to give them the edge in play and say that they'll be the ones winning the All - Star Game. I didn't even mention the fact that they have the legendary Grzegorz Brzeczyszczykiewicz back stopping them. Oh damn, I almost forgot the combo of Elena Maximova and Willow Soderberg-Snooks on defence. That just solidifies it. It would take a miracle for the Eastern team to even compete. 104 words.

Link 2. 1 TPE I am not sure how I would mix these wonderful players around in the line up, because they are all amazingly good players and would do well. I do not think it really matters if they play first, second, third or even fourth line to be honest. They will do well either way. 6. 1 TPE My player will start to learn the skill of chugging beer the best he can. Now you can argue that is still a hockey skill, but I disagree. link +3 8. The Teammate One - 118 words - 2 TPE Froya Solberg was the sole representative from Calgary this season, as the 90 point-scoring center dominated her way to help Calgary in a competitive division in the SHL. While she was certainly the best candidate from Calgary to make it, it is a little disappointing that her sister, Sonja Solberg, wasn't also selected having scored just 4 fewer points. Their connection in the all star game would have been phenomenal too, as Froya scored 41 goals next to Sonja's 55 assists, showing the playmaking prowess that the duo displayed. It's certainly not a surprise that Froya made it, as the leader of the team and someone who will be the face of the franchise for seasons to come. 11. Thinking Out of the Box - 180 words - 3 TPE I think taking games out of the country is always good to grow the game and bring in new fans to the sport, and the league as a whole. It's similar to what both the NFL and NHL do, with games in European countries where stadiums already exist but teams don't exist (and frankly never should, the travel schedule would be horrendously brutal for any team involved. Just look at the Devils' pre-season into regular season this year for how wonky the whole situation was with travel and making roster cuts, and even icing a roster). But it'd be pretty cool to get into various European countries where hockey is already prevalent like Sweden, Finland, Germany, Switzerland and bring in more attention to the SHL. Could even do some special events in Asia or Africa, maybe take a game to the land down under and introduce them to a new sport. Or maybe go to Antarctica for a special live streamed event on natural ice! Maybe find some ways for the players to not die due to temperatures though lol.

In order for me to determine just what the hell people would do in the esteemed Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area, first I have to figure out if there is actually anything to do there. You know, besides freeze your ass off. Pretty sure it's cold there, but don't quote me on that one, buddy. The first thing that comes up on Google when you search "Things to do in Minnneapolis" is the Minneapolis Institute of Art. You might catch a player here, but I doubt it. Hockey players all have scrambled eggs for brains. They aren't spending their time looking at fine art. Same with the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, which also comes up. Not off to a great start, Minnneapolis. Let's look around some more. If we do another quick Google of "What is Minneapolis known for," you get a big ass mall. Big whoo- OH MY GOODNESS THERE'S AN AQUARIUM? Well, no doubt some of the peabrained hockey dorks in our league would love to gawk at some sharks and other sundry aquatic friends. Maybe they could entertain themselves there for long enough. Apparently in the Mall of America there is also something called the "Nickelodeon Universe" which is wild. I have no idea what that is, but it could be cool for kids like me that grew up watching a lot of Drake and Josh. 6. My October Spotify Wrapped came out, and since my player Mary Hollywood is Just Like Me For Real I'm going to imagine she too had a similar Wrapped (hooray, top artist Tate McRae!). This would also mean that her Spotify Wrapped would tell her that for some reason in October she was a pink pilates princess just like me, whatever the hell that means. So, since Manhattan got absolutely cooked and was unceremoniously dumped from the playoffs way too early (rest in peace, the rage) I'll wager that Mary Hollywood has been getting really into pilates. Now, full disclosure here, I have never done pilates and I have no idea what the hell it is. Some kind of exercise thing with a weird machine. Who the hell knows. But that's what Mary has been up to. It turned out to be a good idea, because her idea of usual physical fitness outside of hockey practice is walking to and from the refrigerator when it's time to grab another ice cold Diet Coke. Before long, though, she was indeed the pink pilates princess that Spotify Wrapped told her she was born to be. How beautiful, the way that life imitates art. Sig by sulovilen!

4. The goalie that I would have starting for the East All-Star team would be the goalie from Toronto, Denebor Milasch. The reason that I would choose the Toronto goalie to be the starter for the east would be because of their 33 wins during the regular season which is tied for third in the league and their save percentage, which is a .911, which is tied for third in the league. the goalie that I would be starting for the west All-Star team would be the goalie from San Francisco, Justin Time. The reasons that I would choose the San Francisco goalie to be the starter for the West would be because of their league leading 45 wins, which is seven more than second place and their league leading lead in shutouts with seven. Both of these goalies put out really good stats during the regular season, and in my opinion would be the two goalies that would be starting the All-Star game. (163 Words +3 TPE) 8. The New England Wolfpack had three players make the All-Star game this year. Out of the three players that made the All-Star game the one that I want to talk about the most is Antoine Beauregard. Antoine is a well deserving choice to be an all-star due to his stats that he put up during the regular season this year. Antoine was the team's leader in points with 103 and assists was 65. He was also tied for first on the team with goals at 38. Being able to put up all these points during the regular season, shows why he deserves to be an all-star. During the all-star game I expect Antoine to do what he did during the regular season by putting up a lot of goals and assists to help his team win. He is a fantastic team player and will do whatever the coaches want him to do to be able to help the team win. (160 Words + 3 TPE) |
