You can see when I originally wrote this article back in 2023
Looking at all the graded media articles in SHL I’ll put the same warnings that I did last year. There are some inaccuracies that could happen. What could be wrong: When dealing with the word count, it gets tricky because what is a “word”. The way I counted up the words, is simply if there is a space between 2 things, its a word. And the secondary concern is dealing with the signatures at the end of people’s articles, and deleting them. With the signatures, I was able to not capture almost everything that in a signature, minus a couple words here and there. The other big suspect thing about word count, is 2 more problems that I could not fix because of the context. The first big thing is that if people split their article into more than 1 post in the thread, it would not capture that. So that would decrease their overall word count. The 2nd problem is that if people collaborate on a media article and then post it, only the user that created it will receive all the credit for that word count. Like when Argar did the top 100 skaters in the SHL, or anything that the SHN has created. But, it is probably impossible to even determine who wrote what, and the time it would take even if it was possible would be pointless. The only other way I can think of to accurately determine the word count/ contributions to every single media article would be the graders payouts, but scraping that constantly I just dont want to even attempt. This time I will be delving into the users who wrote the most media for year. Looking at all time, and then splitting between SMJHL and SHL. And then who wrote the most per year. Just making sure everyone gets involved and to show off from of the most wordy people over the past 15 years on the site. Well… more like 14, as the first year we dont have the data for the media. Since it was on another forum for the first 2 years. The first media I have recorded was SMJHL media called “The Next Great Ukranian” by NateyD. Written on December 23rd 2011. So lets look at a macro view to see who wrote the most words year by year, starting from the first full year of the SHL we have. 2012. This table is for the user who wrote the most in both media sections for the year
Funnily enough there isnt any repeats here. But a lot of legends of the shl. Abdeezy the first user to crank out 100k words all the way back in 2012. His most wordy was Armin Brovalchuk and his MTL Impacts The one with the most replies that year was S8 Re-Draft with a whopping 150 replies. Writing 87 total articles this year, Abdeezy was a workhorse In 2013 it was Keenan, with only 46k words. His most wordy one was Top 100 SHL Players. He had Elias Armia as #1 incase anyone was wondering. With him stating ‘Armia tops the list, but he and Webb are extremely close. Armia however has put up 59 points, while Webb's high is only 55. Armia's low is 50, which is lower than Webb's low but when dealing with players of that caliber ceilings are more important than floors. Combine this with the fact that he's a good hitter and basically every list should have Armia in the top 3 if not number 1 overall.’ 2014 it was Hallsy with 87.9k words. Halsey is still with us today as well! But back in 2014 Hallsy was a writing machine. His bigged media piece that year was 9,712 words being S20 Preview. With 76 media pieces that year, Hallsy deserves his spot there. 2015 we all know and love our friend Eggy who wrote 140,000 words that year. The most out of anyone since Spidey wrote more in 2023. With only 49 media pieces, he wrote over 4,000 words in 14 different articles. With a recurring series call The Falcon’s Wing. His highest word count was 8117 that year 2016 we had ArGarBarGar, who was real efficient with his words this year. Only 16 articles, but 6 with over 9000 words each. With his massive media article of Top 100 SHL players of today. Though what is interesting about these articles is that they were split up by multiple replies. So the word count would probably be higher. But that is also being said, he had help writing from JayWhy and R1ceBowl as well. So there are some murky waters. If you wanted to take a look at it, here is his S30 Top 100 SHL players of today For 2016 as well I'll shout out fgh as well. He wrote 60,897 words that year as well. Close behind Argar. With 59 different articles/podcasts as well. His most wordy was S32 Fight Night: Week 6 2017, we have Rabidsponge21, writing 29 articles for the time. A lot talking about West Kendall, S31 class, and other various articles. High most wordy was his S31 Class - How you doing? which was 8867 words long. Probably more as he had a 2nd reply. 2018 was my man King. With a total of 82 media / podcasts. He was dominant in both the media and graphics. A user who was in my same draft year. King came out of the gates swinging. In 6 months he wrote all these articles which makes it insane. His highest was LeShaun King: The Biography 2019 we had the one and only gordieboom.Who retired his player after not winning playoffs MVP. Arguably this is the only mickey mouse will of this series. As most of his media was just massive lists. As you can see with SHL most unique skater. So I will shoutout StadiumGambler who wrote 67k words. Sharkisback who wrote 67k words. And myself who wrote 65k words. For Stadium he wrote The Gambler's Ramble: S48 Entry Draft Team-By-Team Analysis 2020 was Juke, writing over 114,000 words that year. His most wordy article that year was [SJHN Corsi Corner] The percent chance each team will win their round 1 matchup Though, that being said for a lot of the SHN/SJHN stuff, words were split between different members. So it might not be truly all of Juke’s words. However, the next 4 users were also apart of the SHN at that time Nhamlet writing 87k words. Dextaria writing 77k words. Boom writing 74k. And myself writing 72k words. Also this year shoutout for Fitted writing 102 different articles that year. 2021 was the year for skolpaddor and her writing 61k words (and honorable mentions of Schwarz with 60k words and PremierBormanov 59k words). I think this year is the first year of truly a user that had the majority of the articles being player focused. Which is really cool to see. With her most wordy article being Only Son of the Falling Snow Which is an amalgamation of her original players career and all the different media she produced for it. As she said in the article “I initially started to put this together just as a timeline, to pull together all of the media I’ve put out there over the course of Gunnar’s career (Including this and a few other things I will post later, it totals up to over 60K words). Over the past couple months of gathering links and filling in details, it took on kind of a life of its own, beyond just a timeline of media posts and into…whatever this is. As I said, there is a little more, this is not the end, but here in bonus media week, I decided it was time for this particular bit to see the light of day. It has been a labor of love through and through, and I hope y’all enjoy it even one tenth as much as I have enjoyed writing this story for the past three years. <3 “ So if you want to read a short story about a player. That's a great place to start and read! 2022 was a continuation of users being more story based users dominating the year. With Boom leading it with 44k words. Though it is the smallest an individual is on this table. It is also to note that 2022 is the lowest the media section has been used. Only 1 million words written by everyone. Boom wrote a lot this year, with 36 articles written. Mostly with narrative driven approach. As the most wordy was The Long Way Home Part 2. If you want to read all the chapters you can start here 2023 was the year that Spidey just showed up again. And absolutely destroyed the competition in terms of words in the year. With a whopping 97 articles and 189,000 words written that year. Surpassing everyone that has written before him, with eggy being the 2nd highest in 2015. The next highest was AK41 with only 36,000 words. Highest wordiest article being S71 Yearbook p.1 with 9378 words. He accounted for 16% of all words written that year in the media. 2024 was the final year, and the user that wrote the most words was me, Luke. The most wordiest was New England Pt1.5 Winning. However the articles that earned me almost all of words was the SHL75. Doing the top 75 shl players of all time. A close 2nd this year was Jexter as well, writing 74k words. Doing a lot of media around Team Spotlights, and power rankings. The wordiest was being S76 Preseason Power Ranking and Retirement [2x Draft Media] That was it for who wrote the most for each IRL year section. Next up is splitting it up even more. But with less words and more tables. With it being split between SHL & SMJHL SHL Media Only
SMJHL Media Only
There are some interesting things to pull from both. The first one being that Argar is leading with 3 different years he was on top for the SHL media. Where in the SMJHL there is a different one each year. Which makes more sense with more rookies coming in and writing in the SMJHL media section each year. The only users to have the leaderboards for both is Spidey in 2023 interestingly enough. But with the SMJHL its mostly rookies. From what I can remember, Eggy started out in 2015, Rabid in 2016. Evok in 2017. King in 2018. Shark in 2019. Juke in 2020. Schwarz in 2021. Then Boom and Spidey respectively broke up that tradition writing the most words in their respective years. And then Missjmt being a rookie that year, and speed running to a site ban in the same year. For this next part, I am dubbing it. The 50k club, for anyone who wrote over 50,000 words in one year.Which there is only 51 of them
Spidey, Eggy, Juke, Argar, Abdeezy, and FGH are the only ones reaching 100,000 + words. From there, Argar reached 50k words written 5 times. Luke 4 times, Fgh 3 times. Hallsy, Mac, Bromanov, Rabidsponge21, and spidey reached 50k words 2 times. Awards! Who doesnt love made up awards. And this will be to some of the most unique, interesting, longest, and most replied pieces of media on the shl. For the first word. It will be the most worded article. Now, this one might be controversial just because im sure there has been plenty of pt1, pt2 articles that were split but were actually more words. Or articles that had more of the articles in the replies of the thread. However, there is only 1 winner. Or 1 mickey mouse winner and 1 actual winner. The mickey mouse winner is Gordieboom’s SHL Most Unique Skater with 13,625 words. However, that is just list media. So we wont count it. The actual winner is @CptSquall’s S52: End of an Era pt.1 The next award goes to who had the most replies in one piece of media! And that award goes to Kevin Juice Bieska with 637 replies in the media article. Being SMJHL Hunger Games. However it is to note that Kevin did the hunger games within the thread. So we will give 2 runner ups. First one with 623 replies. Is Lord Pretty Flacko Potential UFA Thread. Second one is 540 replies and is one of the best rules in the SHL! It is Jack Crasher's Free Agency Announcement So congrats to them This next award is going to the most specialist user. The only user to write more than 100 articles in a single season. No other than @Fitted2106 in 2020! So congrats to fitted for that Thats all for the awards The final big list. It is the users who had the most words written. It is a top 50 list. And just like Gordie it will be the big final list media for this.
So congrats to ArGarBarGar for retaining his top of the leaderboard. With Spidey & Myself hot on his heels. @Hallsy you should write more. You can find all the data here if you wanna do stuff with it: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1...sp=sharing Finally, here is a word cloud of all of the words in the titles in said word cloud ![]() ![]() SMJHL GM Littleton Award Winner ![]() Registered S8, S9 Challenge Cup Champion ![]() Registered Posting Freak
