ISFL PT Affiliate - 3 TPE

Writing Prompt 3 - 4 TPE - 238 Words
The Tampa Bay Barracuda consistently produce high-performing players despite not always leading in average TPE due to the focusing on player development and putting the players into key slots to provide them the most opportunity to succeed.

The Barracuda prioritize developing individual player skills, regardless of their initial draft position or cost. By creating a supportive environment for players to grow and flourish. Additionally, their coaching staff may emphasize player development and individual growth, with experienced coaches identifying and nurturing talent within a system that encourages learning and growth.

Furthermore, the Barracuda may excel at identifying and cultivating undervalued talent. This could involve focusing on specific skills or attributes that may be overlooked by other teams during the draft process. They may also effectively find and develop players who were overlooked in the draft or those who may have fallen through the cracks with other organizations.

Finally, a strong team culture can significantly contribute to the Barracuda's success. Fostering a sense of camaraderie and support among players can create a positive and encouraging environment where players feel empowered to reach their full potential.

While some element of luck may be involved, the Barracuda's consistent emergence of high-performing players strongly suggests that their unique approach to player development, scouting, and team culture is a key factor in their success. This approach provides a valuable model for other teams looking to maximize their player potential, regardless of their TPE budget.

4. I think the San Francisco Pride will have no problem outdoing the goalie play of Tibuk Soonika. Soonika has been ABSOLUTELY stellar these playoffs, and Tampa Bay has been firing on all cylinders during these playoffs, so please don't mistake my comment as anything more than an observation, because I'm rooting for Tampa Bay to win it all and show the league that Goliath can fall to David.

HOWEVER, saying that, San Francisco is on a run of dominance that has had them finish top 2 in the league since season 76. They constantly find a way to get the motor running throughout the season, and they manage to reach an even higher level during the playoffs. Currently, the series is tied 1-1, and the games have gone about the same for both teams, but I simply cannot discount San Francisco's ability to turn on the jets at a moments notice. I'm excited to see how this series plays out, LET'S GO TAMPA BAY.

5. As both teams have lots of European players from all over the continent, there are a quite a few options, but since Ireland rarely held such major hockey events in the past, the choice should be them with Dublin and Cork as the host cities. Local fans would go nuts seeing their heroes Rowan O'Beirne, Filip Svatos, Toasty Söderberg-Snooks, Viktor Hargreeves and Shotty McStopper play in their home country and fans from the rest of the world would have a grand ole time.

13. Team Rhine has consecutively improved since not qualifying for the quarter-finals in S75, finishing 4th in last season's tournament. Even though they lost big contributors in Jason Warwaha and NoNo Jo to the IIHF after S78, they built a solid team again and it was time for players like Andrea Morandi, Felix Carlsson, Emeric Gagner and Louis Belanger to shine once more after having already two or more prior tournaments on their resume. This season's cast looks impressive, too, with Morandi, Mc Zehr III, Kaptina, Dienhart, Karlsson, Marineau, McLazy, Fruhstuck and Bindewald from the medal round team of S79 being on the roster again. Some of them will have their final WJC tournament this season and some will give it one or two more go's, but scouts predict already, based on the player's potential, that Germany might see (more) great performances in the future from the likes of Dieter Fruhstuck, Katharina Rosenthal and Chris McZehr III. France is looking forward to welcoming Normand Marineau and Switzerland can't wait for Dejana Kaptina to continue her career for the national team. One more thing to note is the addition of some notable players from other nations, foremost WJC S79 winning goalie Jon-Isaac Forty-One and defenders Lewis Holl and Pavel Mintyukov. The future is bright and it's time for Team Rhine to shine.

7: I got San Fransisco winning it all in this finals. A dynasty team that has repeatedly been one of the best teams around for a while now. Ramen is also part of the team so I have to cheer for them under penalty of spending additional time in the shower. Over the regular season, both teams had similar goals let in but the distinct advantage in scoring abilities for the Pride should be what gets the over the hump here for another cup.

11: It’s an inevitability with fixed seeding for playoffs that sometimes it is actually preferable to finish with a lower seed than higher. I have run into these issues while playing competitively in other games (Slapshot: Rebound). I was the GM and when I took a look at the likely brackets, it did happen that we went into games, not intending to lose but playing a roster with our prospects to get them game time and we’d probably would lose, and I’d be fine with that. The goal is to win the cup not win regular season games, that’s true here as much as it was true for SlapShot: Rebound. It was because of this that a new seeding system was introduced. The top seed gets to pick from the four bottom-seeded teams who to play. Then 2nd seed gets to pick from the remaining, then 3rd, and then 4th gets who’s left. This system made it so there is never a reason to lose, there is never a reason to try and snipe a lower seed. While this does make it harder for lower seeds at times cause now they will run into harder teams, that is the intended point of seeding so it was something that the league was fine with. In the case of this season, I do think Philly benefited from being a lower seed, and to the detriment of Buffalo. I don’t think it mattered for New Orleans, but objectively Texas did get the easier matchup to start the playoffs.

[code]3. A total of 5 goals separates SFP and TBB’s goal differentials. The difference? SFP has 17 goals from Logan Webb with most of his teammates just feeding him puck while TBB has no player besides 1 to have less than 2 goals scored this playoffs. Which team’s strategy is more likely to pay off in these finals and why?

Assuming both teams keep going with their current offensive strategy, I do think that Tampa Bay scoring coming from a lot of different players to help them come out on top, because they can assign a line to specifically stop Webb, which should stop most of San Francisco offence, and have their offensive production coming from their other lines. However, the Pride will probably find a way to adapt if the Barracuda use this strategy.

This seasons we saw something unusual as both conferences featuring a division where winner got arguably harder matchup than the second place team as the wild card from the other division finished with more points than the third place team in their division. How does it make you feel about the playoffs structure? Was it actually even worse for New Orleans and Buffalo to have won their division? Or does it really matter as if you are reaching for the cup likely should be prepared to face any team anyway? How much do you think it benefited Los Angeles and Philadelphia to face opponents out of their own division during first round?

I do think that our current playoff system makes things significantly more difficult for both Buffalo and New Orleans in the first round. Buffalo faced a team that finished the season in fifth place in the conference and only got six points less than them, while the team that came second in their division, Baltimore, finished the season with 68 points which is 11 points less than Philadelphia who ended up betting the Stampede in the first round of the playoffs. I also think, it did benefit the Forge to switch division, because their first-round opponent was worse than what they would have faced if they finished third and had to face Tampa Bay and Atlanta back to back in the first two rounds.  In the Western Conference, New Orleans had to face the Los Angeles Panthers who ended the season with 74 points, while the Renegades, who finished second in the Central division being the Specters, faced Chicago who got 53 points during the regular season. Clearly, New Orleans had to face a significantly stronger opponent in the first even if they finished in front of Chicago. Going to a system where the division winners occupies the first two places in each conference and the rest of the team are rank from three to eight, the only first-round matchup who would have stayed the same is San Francisco against Winnipeg, which means we would have looked at a completely different playoffs pictures and most likely a change in the outcome.

Looks like [TEAM] won Season 80 Challenge Cup! So who won and why? What could the other team have done differently to change the result? What was your favorite part of the series?

Well it looks like the San Francisco kitty cats managed to pull off another Challenge Cup win, good for them. In a way it makes a lot of sense, I have to think lion versus fish is going to win every time. Although according to Will Ferrell in the Other Guys maybe not. Maybe if the Tampa Bay Barracuda rebranded to a tuna fish logo they would have won the Challenge Cup. Something to think on the next time they make a big run I guess since the last time they lost in the final was also to another big kitty? Anyways, it doesn't look like the Pride had too much of a struggle making their way to the final so the win probably didn't come as too much of a surprise for folks. The Aurora looked pretty but handed over a clean sweep, the big lizards in Calgary clearly didn't have big enough fangs losing the series 4-2, and the cowboys.. well. I haven't seen many cowboys try to fight a lion but I can't imagine it would end well for a lot of them either unless they had the gun slinging skills of old Wyatt Earp (which clearly they did not in this series, despite their best efforts). Anyways, I'm enjoying the purple highlights on the site so congrats San Fran and thanks for the colour.

10. Written, 50 to 200+ words. The Unexpected

Toronto barely made it into the playoffs over the Hamilton Steelhawks, and for that I will forever hold a grudge. I'm glad to see they capitalized on the opportunity though. Regular season success can mean a lot, but no one ever remembers who "won" the regular season. Playoff progress and the cup winner is all that ever gets remembered, so sign me up for a deep playoff run after a disappointing regular season any day of the week. Plus take it from me, a guy that had no reason to care about the playoffs: it's a lot more fun keeping up with things when your team is in the playoffs. (100+)

14. Written, 50 to 200+ words.- The Procrastinator Special!

Looks like San Francisco Pride won the cup...again. If Tampa Bay Barracuda really wanted to win the cup, they should've rebranded into something completely different than the Tampa Bay Barracuda. I've been around for a while now, and for as long I've been around the Tampa Bay Barracuda have been cursed. They've always been good enough to not be bad, but never good enough to win it all. I've seen them get to the finals a handful of times now, only to keep losing in heartbreaking fashion. At this rate, the Minnesota Monarchs will win before they do. Congratulations to the San Francisco Pride though, soon we'll be having the "literally HAM part deux" conversations, wondering if we have to break up the Great Lakes in the name of parity. It has been rare to see any team stay at the top as long as they have, but I won't get sad when the forums are finally a different color. (150+)
