3 TPE 3. I'm a pessimist at heart, so my thought is always to plan expecting a failure. If your plan counts on one player carrying your scoring, you are tempting the wrathful god of simulation to smite you for your hubris. Teams should try to have players who can score all over the roster. Even shutdown lines need a guy who can take advantage of the odd man rushes that inevitably result from the aggressive play that high scoring lines are prone to. If every line on your team has some sort of scoring threat, it make strategy much more challenging for your opponents. 102 Words 2TPE 4. As noted in my previous answer, my philosophy is to expect a failure and plan accordingly. This is why I hate to count on high level goalie play. One of my old buddies says”Goalies are voodoo.” They're impossible to predict. I have the top TPE goalie in another league, borderline consensus pick for multiple awards and his save percentage isn't even in the top 10. I'd much rather ice a team that can maintain possession in the Zone and suppress scoring chances than invest in a high level goalie. Obviously the ideal is to do all three things, but there's a salary cap. Don't spend it on G. 109 words 2 TPE 8. Look, it's time to face facts. You know it, I know it, the people who aren't reading this know it. The San Francisco Pride have identified a gap in the league rules and are exploiting it to the maximum extent possible: the league does not test players for the use of anabolic steroids. This has been waived off as irrelevant because this is a sim league or spurious and baseless. Frankly, I don't care if it's based or not. It's time for the SHL head office to take the ethics of the game back and test every single member of the Pride to catch this exploitation. Words: 106 2 TPE 9. How do you think? They've got their eye on things, they've started giving their players steroids, too. Frankly, this whole league is a mess and I'm wondering if anyone here has ever even cared about sportsmanship. It's all win at any cost and no love of the game anymore. Makes me sick. Words: 52 1 TPE

As a player, you have to think that way so no matter who you got, you give it your best. For what I know, this situation is rare and even if my team benefit of it, I can understand the «frustration» both team had. But you are in playoffs, and to be the best, you got to beat the best. Sad for LAP to loose in the first round because of it, but they would have probably lost in the second round against us so I don't think we need to change something. 110 words = +2 tpe 12. For this one, I can't go against Canada. They have a lot of depth at each position, doule reigning champions and my brother is playing for them. So all the element are there for them to repeat for a second(?) time. Their coaching got better in the late S60's and they are a top team since then. Other nation can have also a good tournament, but it's so hard to be consistant in that tournament that all four of them can also be out of a medal game in the next tournament. So my money is on Canada out of those 4 teams for the reasons above. 107 words = +2 tpe 13. The WJC tournament is really nice, but also very hard to produce when you are at the beginning of your career. It's like the regular season in the SMJHL, you are not very good so a point per game season is very rare. It's the same thing with IIHF so the WJC prepare you for it, at least it was for me haha! 63 words = +1 tpe

10. The Unexpected (4 TPE)
The unexpected is what makes hockey great in general. Unexpected results are part and parcel of the game. That all being said, this is exactly why the National Hockey League and therefore the Simulation Hockey League uses a playoff format where teams compete in a best of seven instead of just a single game. This allows for some randomness )which is a good thing by the way - imagine if you were watching a sporting event and you just straight up knew who was going to win) while still crowning who should be the better of the two teams as there is a 4-7 game sample size. I do not believe that this needs any changing, and in fact I welcome it. If the “better” team won every time, this whole thing would be a lot less interesting. While of course the regular season matters, and is normally a good indicator of things to come as far as the playoffs are concerned, it is simply not the end all be all and should not be. An underdog team is completely capable of pulling off a tactical victory, using the system that they are given to pull an upset. In regards to accolades, of course the regular season champion has some bragging rights, but overall it is and should be overshadowed by winning the whole shabang. (225) 6. Which team would your player root for in the finals and why? (3 TPE) My player, Quazon Brosonchi, is all about the underdog story. Having been born into a very poor family in his hometown of Derry. Ireland, Quazon had to scrap and fight his way out of said poverty in order to find himself in the position he is now. That all being said, Quazon would be on the side of the Tampa Bay Barracuda. While they are not your traditional underdog team, being third in points during the regular season, they are an underdog compared to the San Francisco Pride, who had a whole eight more points. Additionally, it would just be cool to see a team that only had one previous cup win another one. Compared to each other, the Tampa Bay Barracuda have the more significant uphill climb. It is going to take some serious grit and tenacity to topple down the San Francisco Pride - something Quazon Brosonchi knows a little too much about. (154) 1. Short Prompts I'm not sure if there is something in the water in San Fran, but I'm all for it. Defensemen leading the league in any offensive category is a great thing, and not easy at all to do. Shaw is a PP QB, and absolutely lethal from the point. You always have that in the back of your mind because if you give up a power play to San Fran there is a good chance that puck is ending up in the back of your net within the next 2 minutes. I think it's the fluid movement. They look like a well choreographed dance composition, where everyone is moving around, seemingly at random, but then if you zoom out a bit each piece is a part of a masterpiece. Shaw isn't scoring this well if the rest of the power play line doesn't buy in and it is very clear that every player on that team is locked in. 158 words, 3 TPE Code: 8. Written, 50 to 200+ words. Dynasty in the Making Of course it has to be many moving parts to make the situation that is San Fran. Teams are free to emulate what they have done for success, and I think that will be good overall for the league be levelling out competition, but you see they have drafted well, they are earning well, they have a future plan, but I think most of all important above all else for their quest to make the finals each and every season and no knock to them because they are a good team, is a bad division. This allows for usually at least 1 easy series on their quest for the finals, and sometimes two. Probability is with you when you can cut down a gruelling 3 series to 1 and congrats to them because they still need to win these series to make it. That is probably also the hardest thing to count on because it's completely uncontrollable by you as a team. 162 words, 3 TPE TPE scale reminder: 50-99 words, 1 TPE 100-149 words, 2 TPE 150-199 words, 3 TPE 200+ words, 4 TPE 8/9 TPE

Both Tibuk Soonika and Justin Time are playing extremely well for their teams, boasting very similar numbers all around. Soonika does have the edge on goals save above average however. Will this give the advantage to Tampa Bay going into the finals, or will SFP find a way to outdo the goalie playing above expectations? Both Tibuk and Justin are amazing goalies in their own right. In fact, I would argue greatly that they are both hall of fame material (I have no goalie biases obviously). Tibuk has already this year taken the most wins and best overall career title from former Tampa Bay goalie Strom Chamberlain, and Justin, for lack of a better term just stands on his head way too many times. I think though, the one thing that is going to ultimately push the favor in the direction of Tibuk though is his age. I don't mean by the fact that Justin is aging by comparison, I'm referring to the fact that age wise Tibuk Soonika just flat out doesn't age. I'm pretty sure he's immortal, and if there isn't just one Tibuk, we have no idea what version of this vampire netminder we're on? It could be Tibuk Soonika III. It could be Tibuk Soonika MCMXC for all we know. Or, frighteningly so, it could just the reincarnate who has all of the memories of the Tibuks that came before him. That makes this goaltender extremely crafty and dangerous. I feel that experience could finally be the tipping point to push Tampa over the edge and get their first championship back since well, since they were the Riot. Code: 6. Which team would your player root for in the finals and why? Peanut would be rooting for Tampa Bay. Having been an underdog his whole life, it only makes sense to root for the team who has won the least, and for the longest amount of time. Plus, secretly it is in his contract somewhere where when asked this question he has to root for the most obscure team and, well, if Miami Vice coloring isn't obscure enough I don't know what is.

The current playoff structure is a little bit off. Especially of you consider there is no actual need to split teams off and have them compete with each other geographically. The only real benefit which remains is a build up of rivalries. But after being here for 2 seasons the only thing close to rivalry i have seen, was a little bit of trash talk between the GMs of Tampa and Philly. So I'd guess there's also not really such a thing as rivalrys in the SHL. So since the is zero need for for such a system it could easily be changed to a pure conference 1-8 system. On the other hand there is no need to change the current system because where did the teams profiting from it go? Right, nowhere! Los Angeles still lost in round 1 to New Orleans and Philly fell in round 2 to the Toronto North Stars.... If you go by regular season stats, so exactly by the argument why the current system is unfair, they lost to the overall worst team. So both ended up winning nothing by going into the weaker part of the bracket because you still have to be abe to beat everyone if you want the cup. So in the end, since there is not a real benefit from changing the system even so i like an 1-8 conference better. Why put in the work and effort to change sth just for the sake of changing it? 7.) 169 words, 3TPE Quebec City will win the Four Star Cup! Because they are already up 3 to 1 game? No not because of that. Because they are the defending champions? No, that's also not the reason. Because they have the advantage over Carolina regarding TPEs? No, still looking for another reason. Because Quebec has won the regular Season in an very dominating way? No still not the reason i am looking for? Because they one the head to head matchup during the regular season? No, no ,no still not the reason i'm looking for. Because i had a bold moment after week 1 of season 79 and already predicted back then that the Quebec City CItadelles would win the Season 79, Season 80 and Season 81 Four Star Cups, and now i have to stand by it because i don't want to look like a fool? Yes! That's exactly the reason i was looking for and the main reason why The Citadelles will win the cupfinal and the cup against Carolina. 1.) 3TPE 14. San Francisco Pride won the SHL championship in convincing fashion. It was an all around effort particularly highlighted by their defensive prowess. It was a tight series overall but San Fran allowing just 2.5 goals against per game was the difference maker. They held Tampa Bay to under 2 goals in 4 of the 6 games. Along with tight defensive play and excellent goaltending they had extremely balanced (yet concentrated) scoring. Webb and Scholz both led their team in the finals with 4 goals each. The majority of Scholz goals came in one game where he completed the hat trick. They didn't get much scoring help from the backend but when they did they made sure it counted. Nyckel came through with a massive OT winner and Toasty chipped in one as well. Overall, it was an entertaining series albeit one that rarely felt in doubt. San Francisco played a suffocating defensive series with a few offensive highlights thrown in. 160 words +3 TPE 13. World Junior Championships haven't been too great for Canada in the past 2 tournaments. In season 79 the two Canadian squads finished 8th and 12th in the 12 team tournament. Canada Red made the elimination round but was bounced quickly. In season 78 it was a much better tournament for Canada with a 2nd and 10th finish during the round robin. Canada black finished with the bronze medal but future does seem bright for the Canadians. I may be biased but Jacob Marsh and Barcus Juneau, future teammates in Philly will look to break into Canada's IIHF roster in the next few seasons as both are hanging around the top 10 of their draft class (s79) two other notables for Canada from that draft class are Nanashi Mumei and Chuck Stewart. 131 words +2TPE 8/8 TPE

Everyone remembers the cup winners but no one ever cares about the regular season winner. Though with how the league is I don't think there really is "focusing all their energy on the playoffs" since teams will probably just continue to do what they're doing and then see how the playoffs go. In real life I definitely put a good amount of stock in the regular season because it is success over a longer period but that doesn't really transfer over. +3 tpe 2. Sydney Shaw has an incredible 6 powerplay goals leading the league this playoffs by 3x any other player, as a defenseman no less! Is there something San Francisco is doing differently to make Shaw a power play sniper? Maybe they have an attack based off of the defenseman to get more shots on goal and maybe she's taking way more shots on the power play to make these totals. I think it is incredible that she has 3x as much power play goals than everyone else so she has been a force on the PP. 58 words 7. Who you got? Who wins the Challenge Cup or Four Star Cup? Why? For the challenge cup I got San Francisco because there offense has been clicking on all cylinders during this playoffs and really I think this series will come done to goaltending and I think Justin Time is gonna outdo Tibuk Soonika in this series and the power play will be a force and I think the X factors in this series for San Francisco will be Logan Webb who leads the playoffs in points, dominik winters who has been a great playmaker, and Sydney Shaw who has been a force for San Francisco on the power play in the postseason. I got San Francisco in 6 games 107 words 8. Written, 50 to 200+ words. Dynasty in the Making San Francisco has made the finals for two seasons in a row now and has won the cup twice in the last 5 seasons with a chance to make it 3. What has made San Francisco so successful? Is it immaculate drafting? Coaching? Hard work from each of their players? All of the above? Should teams learn from SFP and emulate what they’ve done to get their time in the limelight? The achievements of San Francisco can be credited to a mix of elements such as excellent drafting, effective coaching, and dedicated effort from every player. The team's consistent reach to the finals and victory in championships showcases their exceptional talent assessment during the draft. The coaching team has shown they can fully utilize their players' abilities and make tactical choices that place the team in a favorable situation for success.
