1/ CW Trivia - Siuuu (3 TPE)
2/ I would it's more down to Sydney Shaw's own abilities that makes her perform so well going forward. And after all if it was down to team tactics there would have to be at least a few players relatively close to her if not right up with her but as the playoffs have shown so far, she is a cut above the rest. (63 words - 1 TPE) 4/ While Tibuk Soonika seem to going head to head with Justin Time, there is one thing on Justin's that makes you think he is going to come out on top. And that is experience. Time knows how to get through the last bump. After all he has won quite a few Challange Cup so he has an insane amount of experience on his side. Both in terms of winning stuff and in terms of just playing experience. And that can help SFP quite a lot. So with Time in their net, I actually think SFP has a better chance at claiming the Challange Cup than Tampa Bay does. (108 words - 2 TPE) 5/ If I had the chance to move the SHL finals to a new venue, I would definitely choose a place where SHL could grow it's market. There are quite a few places where that can be done. Perhaps Europe could be one of those places. If so either France or the United Kingdom could host the finals. If we are thinking of Asia then Japan could have a few places where the finals could be held. And of course we can't forget about South America either. Brasil and Argentina are both South American nations that love sports in general. So I'm sure there could be a few opportunites in there as well. But if I had to choose one specific nation myself than it would be the United Kingdom. English being the main language could help a lot in organising the event as there would likely be no problem with people not understanding each other and as such there would be no mistakes made. Or at least there would be less chances for mistakes. (175 words - 3 TPE) 3(+1)+2+3=8(+1 just in case) TPE

5. +2 TPE, 116 words I think the best place to hold the SHL finals would be in Brazil. I'm not talking Rio or Sao Paulo here either but hear me out. Now this isn't really a tactic to gather more support and fans for the game but what a cool experiment this could be. I think the SHL finals should be held in the Amazon. The NHL can already have games outside in Florida and Vegas of all places, why couldn't our league (which is much better) be able to hold games in the freaking Amazon? Think of the uncontacted tribes in the Amazon and how insane they reactions could be at such an event happening right where they live. 7. +3 TPE, 163 words I'm rooting for the San Francisco Pride to win this season's Challenge Cup. I don't know what it is, I guess it might be because they won last season or the fact that they've been contenders for at least 5 season now, also winning back in season 76, so I thought they'd have the best chances out of all the playoffs teams to win this season or I suppose the real reason I thought the San Francisco Pride would unequivocally be the season 80 Challenge Cup winners is because I'm actually writing this what I think is a week after they actually won 4-2 versus the Tampa Bay Barracuda. I think the Barracuda had a fair chance, they came up in the East conference rather easily, sweeping Manhattan, defeating Atlanta in a 4-2 matchup and then managing to close it out versus Toronto in a 4-3 win, but unfortunately San Francisco was too strong for them and they fell 4-2 in the finals.

If the SHL finals were to be held in another country this season, where would the best place be and why?The finals should most definitely be held in Sweden. It has an incredible hockey culture even though it's not the national sport. Many of the players in the league are also from Sweden, so it makes sense to host the finals there to also allow many of their families to see their own people play in a high-stakes series. Playing the finals somewhere in Europe, rather than the US would also be a chance to grow the game. If we're lucky it's something that could add more European members to the league which is currently dominated by North Americans. Not that that's a bad thing, but more people is always better. 111 words, +2 TPE Quote:9. Written, 50 to 200+ words. Rising StarsI genuinely think it's more about the team composition than it is any individual player, build, or tactic. The team in Tampa, while not always the best on paper, has deep chemistry and extremely complementary player styles. Everyone working together to make a perfect line always has the opportunity of lifting up certain players who thrive with how they’re being used. Sure, some of it might be luck, but I think it’s more about when they truly get to play their own game. What they're best at. And have a full supporting cast around them at all times. It becomes more about putting players in positions where they can succeed rather than just not relying on individual talent to do all the work alone. The fact that this has happened more than once tells us that it's more about the team culture and not just a fluke. It speaks to how the GMs and coaches have built a solid, confident team. 161 words, +3 TPE Past Players

2. Sydney Shaw has an incredible 6 powerplay goals leading the league this playoffs by 3x any other player, as a defenseman no less! Is there something San Francisco is doing differently to make Shaw a power play sniper?
The reason that Sydney Shaw has so many power play goals and the reason that they lead is not because of skill, like some talking heads on sports news and SHL analysts might tell you. The real answer is that the SHL system is rigged against the Philly Forge and you can see this by the amount of goals that non-Forge players score. I wanted to score a lot of power play goals, or just goals in general with my character 3WW Wingmate Roc and so the SHL is just taunting me by showing me what it looks like when you're sim blessed and trying to make me mad in particular, this is the only reason. I think that this will come to a bad end for the SHL machine though, surely they can not rig this over and over and over and eventually I will be the best defenseman ever and then score 7 goals unlike this bum with 6. Mark my words, the Sydney Shaw experiment is over, I will be stealing their powers in a Space Jam kind of way and then I will be the best ever. Not saying Syndey Shaw is the best ever because that would be Cale Salad. 204 Words - 4 TPE 6. Which team would your player root for in the finals and why? I think that it is incredibly dangerous and disingenuous for anyone to cheer for anyone but the eliminated Philly Forge to be re-instated in these playoffs. Truly we got super unlucky and deserve to be there. I think that it was a mistake to eliminate the Forge because not only are we the coolest, we also want it the most. Well, I want it the most. Maybe not the most, I just kind of want it. I think also that we can't cheer for the San Francisco Pride because they have a kpop channel in their discord and that's clearly degen behaviour, truly despicable. I would like the reader to also ignore the fact that I am also active in this channel. Is liking kpop a big enough thing that it disqualifies a team from the playoffs? Some would say, YES. I think the reason the SHL allows the Pride to keep existing is actually because @drapfather and @RAmenAmen are in the locker room and those two are so cool it cancels out that there exists the kpop degens. Maybe I'm just sadge that there are not enough Winter and Kazuha stans, the Pride is truly a dynasty of lawless non-Winter stans. 202 Words - 4 TPE 8 TPE total

6. Walbilly Koala would likely root for San Francisco Pride over the Tampa Bay Barracudas because he feels more closely connected to lions than fish. A lion is like him, a mammal, even if a lion is a predator. But besides being a fellow animal, he doesn’t connect much with fish. He’s also met more lions awakened to sentience by White Castle food than he has fish. So, he generally finds lions more impressive, intelligent, and relatable. So they’re easier to root for than fish. He’s well aware neither team is genuinely a lion or fish, but this is important to him. (101 Words, 2 tpe) 10. Of course, regular season success matters. To say it didn’t would be incredibly discouraging. That would mean most of your games during your career don’t even matter. I can’t think of many of us here who would blatantly accept that. If your team fumbles in the finals, it’s devastating. But getting that far in the first place, especially in the SHL, is something to be delighted with and desire every season! In the long run, losing should be a phenomenon that makes you want to win more than you want to quit. I think even if a team has an ensured spot in the playoffs, they should still try their best in all of their upcoming matches. If they were to start slacking off or not giving it their all, it wouldn’t be fair to the other team, who might be desperately trying to prove themselves but still finding themselves short of victory. I think the league, in general, already values the regular season results fairly highly. They dictate who makes playoffs, after all (in the SHL). (177 Words, 3 tpe) Theoretically, 8 tpe.

Prompt 14-
Looks like the Pride take home the chip again and pretty dominantly for a second year and a row with the major question being when will this dynasty end. Well I do think San Francisco have built their team really well and they have been atop one of the most competitive divisions in the league which I think has helped them get to where they are. Since they are in such a tough division, their players are used to the caliber of playoff games as it feels as if every game is a playoff game for the Pride against teams like the Panthers and Dragons. San Francisco won every game by 4-2 or better which is absolutely insane as no team was able to take that third game off of them. What teams need to do to prepare is just to prepare for a long series because the Pride know what they have and they know they can end it quick. If teams were however to invest into some heavy depth to counter a tired top half of the Pride roster we could see some success. Regardless we cant contribute the Prides wins only to the players the GMs have also done a fantastic job at sustaining this competitive team. Prompt 8- Overall we can attribute a lot of the success the Pride have had not only to the players who have made it so this dynasty has come to life but the general managers for rounding together such a great group of players that are able to work off each other so well that they aren't constantly worrying about disagreements on the lines. The Pride also have a winning mentaility as it feels like they went into almost every game knowing they can win but they turned that mentality into motivation so that they could convert it to lets do better than we did last time and they do just that every time. Prompt 6- If Wizard had to pick a team to root for between the Tampa Bay Barracuda and the San Francisco Pride it seems like a pretty easy pick to him. Does he want his juggernaut rival to win or a team who he is not rivals with that is not favored well in this match up. Well of course Wizard chooses the Barracuda and he actually shows up to the game in attendance with the normal crowd in a Max Carnage jersey as he wants to play like him on the ice someday. Anyways while Wizard may hope on Prides loss, he would still be happy with his division staying in power taking home another chip.

6. Well this may come as a shock to the league, but Filip Svatos is cheering for the San Francisco Pride. This glorious team was willing to take a chance by trading for him during the off season. Being traded to a team with such a tremendous amount of success not only in the regular season but the off season as well gave him a new found drive. The locker room is electric, and the entire organization has been nothing but fantastic. Easy to see why their pedigree seems to follow. Svatos is really hoping for his first championship, and be a part of rare back to back championship - WC 107 ( 2 TPE)

10. Written, 50 to 200+ words. The Unexpected Toronto ended up making it into the playoffs by one point while Atlanta had the best regular season since S71 Winnipeg. Yet in the playoffs Atlanta ended up losing the second round, while Toronto made it to the conference finals. Does regular season success matter in the long run if the team fumbles in the playoffs? Should teams give much importance to the regular season or focus all of their energy to playoffs once their team has secured a spot? Should the league in general regard the regular season results more highly? Obviously season success is an indicator of potential playoff success. This season has been a little bit of a wildcard. Typically, any other season, you would have one of the top 3 in overall standings win the Challenge cup. This year, it just happened to be places 2 and 3 that made it to the finals rather than the #1 seeded Atlanta Inferno. obviously season success isnt the be all end all. but atlanta having to face tampa bay in the 2nd round was really a coin flip. It is commendable that toronto managed to take the champion tampa bay barracuda to 7 games, when nobody else in the SHL could, not even the finalist San Fransisco Pride. I think that parity is much better than it was in the STHS days, and teams like toronto at least have a CHANCE of making the finals, or at least having a deep run. Perhaps other GM's will emulate torontos strategies when attempting to overcome teams with significantly more preapred talent than them. I think toronto have now set a precedent. Also maybe they are a little underrated. They have been up and coming for a while now and TPE isn't always the best indicator of a championship caliber team. It wouldve been truly surprising to see them win this season but can we say the same for next? (200 WORDS, +4 TPE)

Beans 12. Written, 50 to 200+ words. IIHF Back To Back IIHF tournament is so short that every point is very important for the seeding for the playoffs. On top of that the playoffs are best of one making upsets more likely than during the league playoffs. Despite all that Canada did win the last two IIHF tournaments. Latvia, Switzerland and Czechia made up the rest of the top 4 for last season. Which of the last season’s top 4 teams you think is most likely to make it to the medal games this season and which is most likely to miss? Why? After spending some time talking to my SHL teammates, I have learned a lot about the IIHF and how the teams are formed. Based on what I heard, I think Czechia will be the most likely to get a medal this next time around. They have a really strong roster that should only be getting better with in the next few years. Even if they dont do well this upcoming tournament, there is still a good chance that the team will be ranked quite high in the leaderboards. Plus they also have a decent goalie roster to lean on currently, with some other teams having too old or too young of a team. (126 words) 13. Written, 50 to 200+ words. National Pipeline WJC is always prime opportunity for your nations future starts to get their first taste of playing for the national team. How has your nations team done in recent WJCs and who are some of the most notable junior players that will soon be expected to make an impact on IIHF level? Are these expectations based on their performance in Juniors or growth of their skills? How has their WJC career been, which team(s) they have been playing for, does it compare well to your national team? My player belongs to the US world junior team that is currently about to play in the WJC tournament. Last outing, my player did pretty well in the pre-season, but I was unable to lead the team to a positive record. This current go around, I stopped being the GM and now have found my way to being the captain of the US Blue team. With my minor league junior team, I have been giving a lot more time on the ice with an emphasis on playing a more rounded two way game. (120 words)

Trivia - Smokes 3TPE 14. 126 words - 2TPE Well it looks like San Francisco pride has done it again, back to back cups is quite the feat, especially versus TBB, just like San Fran, TBB has become quite the power house lately and if you would have asked me earlier in the season who I think would win, I probably would have said TBB (don’t fact check me lol) they have a lot of great players many of which are party of my draft class and were even former teammates. But at the end of the day San Fran has many more weapons at their disposal and was able to pull out all the stop and put a beat down on TBB. Now the real question is can they make it a 3 peat?

10. Although it is very sad that Micool was unable to win the cup, along with ruined my predictions horribly, I think the Atlanta Infernos should hold their heads high and still be proud of the incredible season the team had. Sadly all of the regular season effort is thrown away if such a good team loses in the early stages but I think that the regular season is still able to show glimpses of how good a team has the ceiling of. Unless it’s consistent 1st place regular season, eliminated early season after season the Inferno shouldn’t be worried with the promising team they have. I think that while it’s still important to focus on the regular season as it provides so much data that you can use, the playoffs are when moments really matter. Use the data and knowledge you have earned from the regular season and combine that with a playoff mentality and put more energy into it. I feel like its always been known that the regular season can be ignored once you get into the playoffs, but there is still some to learn from it. I feel like there is a perfect balance between regular season energy and playoff energy that just needs to be found. 210 words for 4 TPE 12. Of course you should already know my answer, but if you didn’t, Latvia is a lock for the medal games, especially the gold medal. Latvia is honestly just the greatest team and nation of all time along with their WJC counterpart Ratvia, there is just no debating. Most likely to miss I would have to say is probably Canada just because Noxu resides in that area. 66 words for 1 TPE |
