S81 mPT #4: Too Dead didn’t Line Due: Sunday, March 16th @ 11:59 PM PST
#31

More trades would make things interesting in the SHL, but it doesn't currently seem feasible. Maybe add incentives for playing higher in the lineup? Bonuses at the end of the season for TOI averages based on position. That way at least higher end players might be a little encouraged to leave their team. I think people not leaving their teams in free agency is also something that would need addressed and all falls under the same blanket. I would get rid of the adjusted contracts and see if that forces some player movement.

I'm not sure if we need to change a bit the SHL Trade Deadline or not since most changes are made during the off-season or with free agency (FA or trades during off-seasons).

I think the SHL could use a little more trade deadline excitement. Maybe introduce trade incentives like cap flexibility, extra contract slots or a contender rule that lets playoff teams trade for rentals.

I think things are fine as is with the trade deadline. We don't see that many trades but people don't want to leave their friends which is a large portion of why this league can be so fun. As for sim reasons we don't see a ton of moves because mid season additions can mess with team chemistry and make it a bit trickier to manage lines after

While I do see the value in trades, I also have to say that I love nothing quite as much as a player that stays with their team for their entire career. There's just something so great about it, and having that permanent base helps keep a team's core culture alive.

I think the parity of the league is relatively linear once it comes to one team having enough players with high TPE that they stay near or on top until regressions and retirements hit. Putting a max number of years on contracts for GMs to manage could result in moves being made for teams to consistently try and line up their timelines to win now or rebuild.

At the end of the day with so much parity in the SHL and the teams at the bottom the standings usually having already traded away all their primed valuable players it makes sense that there is not much movement at the SHL trade deadline and don't think that will change

Community is a little more important to players in this league than in real life which leads to players staying on teams and communities they've integrated into. I'm not sure there's anything you could change to change people's priorities in that regard.

I think we see most of our movement here happen during the off-season instead of at the deadline. With the emphasis on chemistry and the way FHM prioritizes those existing connections, I think it's reasonable that GMs are hesitant to shake things up at the deadline if they're playing well.

I believe the expansion will help out here a bit. Because more teams will actually miss the playoffs and there will be more open roster spots to fill for every team. Other than that, there could be a temporarely motivation boost introduced. Like a player traded during the season gets a 20 TPE bonus until the end of the season. Then in the offseason that Bonus will be regressed again. Or sth like that.

I don't really think the league needs or should have a crazy trade deadline. Given the connections to the LR's people get at their teams, randomly trading them away all the time doesn't lead to a great long term user experience

I don't know what need to be done, but as a GM, I would like more move during the deadline. Team are putting their team in the off-season and we almost see no moves during the season. Something need to be done, but I have honestly no idea what could be implemented to help that.

I think the issue is similar to the free agency one: peopled dont want to leave their clubs. you'd need incentives to make people want to leave their current clubs. more people want to leave = more trades/free agency
