Graphic option #1 : Your SHL player is fighting.

I think you never saw Sam Volta fighting with his open hands...

Option 1: If there was a situation where Cadmael felt compelled to get into a fight with someone - it would have to be a very egregious and very random act of violence that he responds to. Cadmael is a massive teddy bear when it comes to playing hockey and more importantly, he hates seeing people getting injured. So much so, that he is probably willing to injure others in response to them injuring someone, in an almost ironic twist of fate. If there were a specific team that he would end up doing this against, it would probably only have to be the Montreal Patriotes for no other reason than that its his former team and now they're considered to be the top dogs of the league. Back when Cadmael was with the Patriotes, he would have considered them a team that he would be punching down to. But now, it's Texas that is below Montreal in the stadnings, so maybe some aggression would rough them up.

Option 1
Let's start with the fact that goalie fights are rare. At least in comparison to skaters fighting which can happen every now and then, even in our league. I'm not even sure if we have records of goalie fights in FHM but I doubt that - so, yes, they're extremely rare. What would even cause Shaggy to fight anyone? I'm not sure, but I'm 100% sure he didn't start it. Maybe some player of the opposing team got angry that Shaggy prevented a goal or the player committed a goalie interference penalty with some very bad timing? Or the other team's goalie got super angry about something, because their team was trying to get into the playoffs and failed. Whatever happened, Shaggy didn't do anything wrong, but he also wouldn't just let anyone punch him without fighting back. Of course he would keep the fight fair (and short). Just get it over with and get back to the game.

Written Option #2:

With the playoffs nearing, Ville Sato-Maki is still in his sophomore season and hasn't necessarily emerged as a leader in the locker room with veterans like Mikko Rashford and Marcel Beck. So to inspire the team to take the next step is not necessarily what Sato-Maki believes is his role. His role is to chat with his fellow rookies and sophomores on the team and help get people to buy into the message of the old veterans. Sure the team isn't looking the most competitive this season and there is still ways to go in terms of growth but once you make it to the playoffs, that's a whole new learning experience for the young players and to learn from the other teams in the league. So chatting with the others, Ville Sato-Maki will help with the buy-in process to keep hold of the last playoff spot in the West against the also up and coming Edmonton Blizzard!

Written Option 1

I have been not much of a fighter throughout my SHL career, but I would absolutely throw down late in the season if the situation called for it. It certainly helps that in the SHL, we all have the magic power to not get injured so I do not need to worry about that. The trade off there though is that I am not a great fighter...but I would do it. It would have to be down the stretch of the season, and only if we as a team were struggling to win games and put together strong performances on the ice. As a veteran and assistant captain, I know that it could energize the young players on our team if they saw me drop the gloves. I am also a big believer in momentum heading into the playoffs, so if we were really laboring at that point I would try and energize us as we head into the gauntlet that is the SHL playoffs.

Hans helps push the Whalers by doing what he does best: putting his body in front of the puck. With a tight race to the top enveloping the SMJHL this season, Vancouver players know that we're playing for everything right now.

We're playing for high seeding in hopes of getting a good match up in the first round.

We're playing for our goalie, who has held us up on her shoulders for so long, and now we must do the same for her.

But most importantly, we're playing for pride.

The Whalers vets know what the bottom looks and feels like, having suffered a brutal season in S80, and those feelings and emotions have been passed on to each new face in the Whalers locker room since. The vets have used that to fuel their own fires, and have used that as motivation to inspire the newer players on the team to do the same. The name of the game has never been and will never be to expect anyone to do anything more than what they're good at, but to EXCEL at the things they do well, and to become the best versions of themselves. Because THAT'S how this version of the Whalers will succeed.

The team knows it to their core, and it shows. Players like Noxus fire that puck on net as much as possible, using his shot to kill opponents chances of coming back in games. Volkova uses her soft touch to execute elite passes that find her every target perfectly, rookies like Roan, Passarelli, Slaw, Williams, and Wad push themselves hard and have already hit their stride as players in the SMJHL. And Hans Gronlund does what Hans Gronlund does best. Hard defensive play, tough minute munching, and most importantly, putting his body on the line, night in and night out.

Option 2: Nor does multiple things to help everyone to push in the right direction at the end of the season while we are making a last push to either make the playoffs or get ourselves in the best position possible for the upcoming playoffs. The first thing to do is to get the team together outside the rink. This can easily be done when they are on the road. Later in the season, the Forge holds a team dinner every time they get into another team city before 6 p.m. It helps to make sure everyone is pushing in the same direction without the pressure of being into the highly competitive environment that is found every time we are at the rink. It also helps everyone to get to know each other better outside of hockey, which particularly helps if the team has newcomers. Another thing Nor tries to do is reduce his shift time. It’s late into the season and there is more fatigue involved, if giving it all means spending 5 seconds less per shift on the ice, it's a sacrifice Nor is willing to make and he hopes his teammates follow.

Option 1:

Dash Jackson isn't a fighter, in fact i think he has only been in 1 fight his whole career ( i would have to double check) Mind you that was a loss in my Rookie season with the Yukon Malamutes. Fighting is cool and all but does not help a team what so ever. Actually it does more harm than good, putting your team at a disadvantage. Every Penalty minute matters and could be the difference between a win or loss or even worse a playoff berth or not. Dash likes to be physical but not to the point where it hurts his team. The only exception would be last game of the season against a crosstown rival (looking at you Calgary) eliminated from playoff contention or locked up a playoff spot or seed. The i would throwdown with the best of them. who know Dash might be a good fighter and might not even know it.

Alright @Zerg it's time to drop the gloves again.

I don't know how or when it started, but the rivalry between Time and Brzęczyszczykiewicz is approaching legendary status, and there's nobody I'd rather fight in the league. Both goalies have had success in basically everything available to goalies in the SHL, but despite our constant efforts the last several seasons to call each other out in PTs, the cowards at FHM development refuse to let our beloved goalies beat each other up. The rivalry in the Pacific division between the Pride and the Panthers is one of the best there is, with two amazing teams full of amazing people, and speaking as a lifelong Pacific division player, LAP is the team that has always challenged me to be the best I can be for the entirety of my career. I just want a goalie fight to cap it all off, and I don't need an excuse in the game to start one.

2: I think the most important thing a team can do the stretch when they're eyeing the playoffs is just focus on keeping a calm mind and executing the way you've been doing it all season. It's easy to get caught up in the mindset that things are more intense and you need to really push hard as a result, but that's not the case -- pushing too hard can lead to stupid mistakes; turnovers, missed goals and just a bit of tunnel vision as you start to only see the puck and the net in front of you. Jeff would encourage his teammates to keep their minds clear of external pressures, ignoring what all the nerds on reddit and twitter are saying, and focusing on ways to keep their bodies healthy and strong down the stretch -- brand new comfy pillows, tasty pre-game snacks, guided meditative yoga sessions, and all other kinds of hippy mindfulness shit he picked up from his wife on his road to the SHL.
