I don't see at least any way to like imrpove the situation since this isn't irl so why leave a team when it doesn't really matter since you can anyways be in your teams locker room and chat there even if you aren't part of it

I do think it would be pretty fun to have a more active trade deadline, but I can see how a lot of people like to stick to certain locker rooms and groups so they wouldn't want to get traded. In a couple esports leagues im in there is a trade deadline and there is always drama/fallout from the TDL so I can understand not having an active one.

Most teams know what they will do before season starts. It is hard to broker deals mid season, especially if you are winning. You don't want to mess up the chemistry you have. I think its fine. More trades is more fun, but you cant force it.

It would be interesting if the dead line was a bit more exciting in the SHL, and for a time I recall there was more movement when I was a GM back in the S30's and S40's, but with each team right to the cap it's a bit difficult to add and subtract players like NHL teams. Perhaps we could look at pro-rating contracts mid season, or scrapping the cap in the playoffs so teams can go nuts with top end talent?

I don't think we need more trades at the SHL trade deadline if people are happy with where they're at. We're a little bit lower stakes here compared to the NHL, "whatever it takes to win" isn't really necessary.

I feel like team shouldn't be pressured to make trades of course we want trades during trade deadline but you don't want to make a trade to just make a trade

While deadline trades are exciting, a league built around the community aspect as opposed to the competitive aspect will tend to keep people together with their friends instead of selling off an expiring contract as a rental. The loyalty between players and teams is too high to see a ton of movement.

I'm fine with how it is currently. Forcing trades just for trades sake doesn't make much sense. Plus assume people become accustomed to their locker rooms and don't want to move.

I think the salary could be constructed for older players to be moved and to encourage better experiences for newer players. I think because people want to be with their friends, its hard to want to trade them

Absolutely there is a lot that can be done and I think it could spark some interesting things, including media!
Bring back cap retention, and make it so tanking teams can realistically trade top tier players for short term rentals to competing teams.

Teams are usually capped out pretty good so moves are harder to make. Could expansion help with allowing a little more movement and flexibility for the contending/rebuilding teams?

I think expansion is gonna help with this, especially considering the fact that a lot of teams will want to protect certain players. Still, it's a lot different from irl trades, as not as many players want to move teams here, especially considering a lot of users connect to certain teams and don't want to leave them

I think things are fine as it is. We don't get all the perks of the hockey life like real players do so most people want to be where they are. I feel like if players want to be traded most of the time GM's make it happen so I don't think we need to force movement against player agency.
