With the # of punishments as of late I'm just here like

"Please don't tell me I accidentally set illegal lines last night..."

Whenever I see a notification

But yeah, I feel for the players who are now FAs. It's rough but technically they weren't under contract to begin with. I do hope they all can get a team for the season.

As for greater debates: I AM STILL LEARNING THE SCOPE OF MY POWER!

There's also co-GMs, coaches, and war rooms that help stay on top of all the deadlines.

And sometimes mistakes happen and like it sucks but life is tough sometimes for everyone. Idk I just see some of these rules of people power tripping and just like I don't see any malicious intent or anything here so why is there a punishment and not just a warning of some sort.

It's clear he wanted to go back to his team, he could have just signed after the freeze. The big issue here is that the movement requirement wasn't fulfilled, and the player played without a contract.

When we asked the team about this, the response wasn't "oh he's crashered' it was "we forgot to sign him" and then later after we had explained the consequences of both not signing and not moving, the "loophole" of "he was crashered" was brought up after the fact. At no point were we given the impression that the team actually believed the contract was a done deal at the time of crashering, it was fully acknowledged that the signing had been overlooked.

Again, we all feel pretty icky about players not being able to play for the teams they want to play for. But we also feel icky about people getting away with not following the rules while other people are following those rules. We just want this process to be as easy as possible for everybody, and that requires cooperation from everybody. Also, as I've stated earlier in the thread, I am so, so open to suggestions for any other kind of consequence for this rule that will actually work, and doesn't screw over the entire team just as hard as this screws over one singular player. A cap fine would likely mean some other player would have to leave the team against their will (unless the team in question is rolling in extra cap space), we can always remove picks but there are only so many picks you can remove, and that doesn't leave us much wiggle room for the cases where a team neglects to move more than one player. (Like, say a team doesn't move four of their players. Do we fine them four picks for that? Or do we just make a flat price where if you miss one you might as well miss them all?)

I am unsure of the relevance of not being told that the player was crashered. The status of the player being crashered doesn't change based on whether or not Dwight made you guys aware of it. I can understand how this can bring confusion, but if it was something that would have affected TBB being punished or not, would it not have made sense to ask this when it was being investigated?

I can respect this being a situation where ho was stuck between a rock and a hard place. I guess what I'm trying to say is that while the changes have made for a smoother free agency process I am not sure myself it is worth it if we allow a worse experience for active shl users. I am torn on the issue myself

I have been called such horrible things in these leagues, sexist insults, homophobic insults, you name it I’ve probably been called it. I was more responding to the general point that Dwight was making, which is that even in positions of leadership people shouldn’t be expected to subject themselves to horrible abusive language, just in the name of free speech.
valid for sure, but the initial reply did feel like you framed it to be a comment about this thread. just a note

This is where I'm at myself. This issue is understandable from nearly every angle, but at the end, the punishment to the players make this too big to swallow imo

When I play rec league soccer, I would be annoyed if the other team started ignoring rules like out of bounds or hand balls because it’s supposed to be just for fun. Fun should be the goal but it also should be fair.

That said, obviously with four teams breaking the same rule at the same time we do need to look at the rule and the internal processes to support the rule. It’s been a hot minute since I was in HO but during that time, we were actively tracking and giving GMs multiple warnings about being behind on tasks. Being a GM is not an easy job but really it’s one of, if not the most important job in the league. You are charged with not only maintaining a welcoming and active locker room but also numerous tasks that are crucial to the overall running of the league as a fair competition. It is a lot of work and responsibility. Shit happens, no denying that, but if you are going to take on the responsibility and get the glory then you have to put in the work and actually listen to those reminders from HO.

The affected players not being able to play for their teams is unfortunate, but I don’t know how you fix that without adding multiple addendums to an already somewhat-complicated rule.

To be fair if the other team was doing that they would have a competitive advantage and I don't see any malicious intent or any competitive advantage of breaking this rule here.

These rules are more on the level of like the other team brought the wrong jersey colour and can't play the game they want because of it. It's just a silly bureaucracy rule and maybe better off a warning instead of such a hard punishment.

Also think this is just a silly punishment for the rule. Sizz is a big part of Tampa Bay, losing a 1500 tpe forward and a 2nd round pick is such a steep punishment and it's a for fun league at end of the day. Especially when you have a contract agreed to in dms or Minny had their player on their budget. Like at the end of the day we are human and we make mistakes and as long as their was no malicious intent these punishments should be appealed and waived completely.
This is what hurts the most. Dwight made a clerical mistake, and now Sizz is being forced out against his will. As a secondary result, Tampa is losing a core offensive player and huge war room and LR presence (not that he has to leave the LR, but still), and a second round pick while still theoretically being in a cup window.

It shouldn't really matter, players can say heck the role you assigned me in FHM10 I'm playing as a night elf mohawk. That being said, keep up the good work following the rules

If verbal abuse is detected in the thread, the thread gets locked.  *the more you know*

Would kill the entire vibe of the team and like it sucks. Idk rule seems way too harsh for a clerical error. If there was a malicious intent sure it would make sense but in this cases. It shouldn't be as harsh. It's just punishing for punishment sakes for a hobby league for no good reason.

Oh yeah that's my bad! I think it is clear from my level of excessive wall-of-texting in this thread that I can "handle" it haha but yeah, definitely did not intend to imply that anyone in here has been verbally abusive in this thread. I think we've actually had some really good conversations in here in the midst of all the extracurriculars.
