Written option 1:
When it comes to pregame or just general road trip things to keep yourself busy like any other player pretty well ever Brooklyn Physt understands that there’s gonna be different things here and there. Everyone’s gonna have a different style. Some people do really well when their head is constantly all about the upcoming game, the upcoming opponent, whoever the players on that team are and just spends their every living breathing waking thought Focussed dialled right in at every point on the ice off the ice in the hotel room they’re watching past game footage maybe maybe they’re reading up on what colonists are saying and taking with a grain of salt. aAll of that as they are living in breathing their next game and Some people need absolutely need to wind down need to take their mind off the game. They read a book they watch random TV shows they don’t know you insert all sort of anything to do. That has nothing absolutely nothing to do with hockey let alone their next game, but the moment are on the ice they switch on Who knows they’re not purely dialled it. Maybe they’re not fully focused . For her, There’s a nice equal mix of looking at other games or maybe the last time they’ve played whoever they’re on the road against this game and a healthy the other half of the healthy mixes and reading something nice Going for a nice walk sometimes she’s around the team sometimes she wants to be on her own anyway, as for what to do with this particular instance, just have a talked with them who knows maybe you learn a little more about the younger player and you find out yeah they’re one of these people who can’t continuously be in that intense sort of game mode. ![]() ![]() Donators BoFA
I'm not a big RPG player, but I am a huge roguelike fan. Roguelikes offer a ton of replayability in that every time you play, the game is different. As you go further and further each time, you gain new abilities and skills and have the ability to become stronger. I think there are some elements from roguelikes that could be implemented in the SHL. For example, starting TPE could be random, to a certain degree. Will your player start off as the next McDavid with a huge surplus of TPE? Or are you a 1-star recruit that will have to work twice as hard as everyone else to even get a shot? You'd probably have to make it so that people can't just spam retire and create to get a good player, though. Another idea would be some type of milestones that unlock TPE for your player. Hitting 500 games unlocks a sponsorship deal that gives you some extra cash, or scoring 300 goals gets you a "platinum" stick that gives you TPE. It would give some more meaning to those milestones, although it could be viewed as a "rich getting richer" situation.

I think that having adding a few new systems to FHM10 could be fun.
First, adding in "Multishot", which gives a player a chance to direct the rebound towards himself while shooting at close range, giving him a chance to then get a second shot after the original, therefore causing a "Multishot". This would have specific requirements such as a Low shooting range, high strength and balance, and good accuracy. Next, add in "Pummel", which is a hit that knocks a player firmly off their skates and onto the ground, causing a secondary "hit" as the player crashes to the ice hard, causing them to feel as if they got pummeled (hence that name). Another one could be the "Glove Flash" for goaltenders, which is a move that helps shift momentum, lowering the morale of opposing skates on the ice at the time of the glove flashing save, and increasing the morale of all teammates a smaller amount, thus helping to shift the tide. There are just a few examples that could make FHM11 fantastic. ![]() Winnipeg Aurora Jack of All Trades
Option 2:
I think the honor system of Red Dead Redemption 2 should be implemented in the SHL. If users in the SHL perform acts of high honor, their players on the ice will be reflected as saints and get less penalties. If a user is less honorable and garners a lot of negative attention, their player would be more susceptible to penalties. Take that a step further and the mood scale of FHM is reflective of that honor: honorable users have happy players that gives a production boost while dishonorable users have unhappy players that may have a harder time on the ice. Obviously this is a very fair way to go about a sim league. The problem arises when everyone is nice and great and honorable all the time: everyone gets the bonuses. It then becomes and extra burden on people who dissent. If the honor system was in the SHL, we may see less dissent and maybe that's not a good thing. So idk lol. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Credit to enigmatic, Merica, tweedledunn, and jaypc8237 for sigs ![]() Graphic Graders Senior Member
First of all, how dare you insinuate that NoNo Jo is “old”. Secondly, what’s up with the judgement of this dude for playing video games in his free time. If it’s free time, it’s literally that. It’s not time he should be practicing good hygiene, practicing hockey, or any other necessary task. So therefore NoNo Jo joins in and kicks that young booty butt around in all the video games. They say playing video games fine tunes your dexterity, so maybe this is actually helping their shooting skills or some other hockey skill. OR better yet maybe they are running practice hockey sims in that game that does that and they are learning invaluable information! I think this kid is onto something and NoNo Jo will play video games along side him to figure it out. To the consul!!! Or the phone! The prompt said either one! Maybe they will play the consul with their feet and play on their phones with their hands! You get the picture! We! Love! Video games!!!

Written Option 2:
Jett Labyrinth is only in his second year as a player in the SHL so by no means would he consider himself a grizzled veteran, but the Aurora do have their fair share of rookies so he can shed a little bit of guidance to them. Jett is roomies with his old Berserkers teammate, Hamper Linthome, who’s having a really solid rookie season in his own right. However he has struggled focusing all the time as he often is playing “Rocket Leegers” and “Watchers” with some of his old Zerk buddies. Jett’s not as big on video games (although he has his other vices) so he’s not usually involved, but he feels like it’s a bit much and doesn’t want him to get in trouble with the coaching staff. It’s hard for Jett to confront him on this as Hamper is clearly having the better season for the Aurora, and is really thriving despite the distractions. So instead of being honest with his pal, he tells him that he has developed an allergy to a component found in his video game system, with a fake doctor’s note to boot. This left Hamper confused but agreed to stop playing video games on the road. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() File Worker Top 100... in our hearts

Bring in maintenance from a lot of different games (Fallout New Vegas maybe specifically?) and we all have to maintain our sticks, skates, pads and other equipment. Have to steal similar stuff from opposing locker rooms and weld it together, take it to the trainer if your skill isn't high enough. Upgrade your sponsorship to get better deals on new stuff. Then we'd be cooking. Maybe have to pass a speech check to get past the security guy who doesn't believe you're on the team when you roll up late. Sneak past him through the laundry if you can't make the speech check. Animal companions too, lets bring upgraded dogs onto the ice to play on our lines like Most Valuable Primate. The options are endless and in all seriousness, more RPG elements probably should be added to keep user engagement high. All kinds of side-quests, little upgrades and level ups here and there. Multiple choice stories like Live the Life used to have in NHL 14. Throw all kinds of stuff and see what sticks, make it more like a game. ![]() SHL GM SHL GM

I would choose to bring over the enchantment system from RPGs to SHL players. They could apply various enchantments to different pieces of their equipment with experience that they would gain by accruing various statistics, kind of like the grinding system in games like MLB Road to the Show. Some examples of enchantments could include a "Power" one that can be applied to the stick for harder passes and shots, a "Protection" enchantment for shin/shoulder pads that reduces the impact of blocked shots and incoming body checks, or a "Pinpoint" boost for skates that allows turning very tightly while maintaining speed kind of like you'd see in a video game. It might also make things interesting if players could have "critical" hits or shots, with a small chance for a "critical" shot to come off the stick 25% harder or a hit being more effective to knock a player down. This would give some variety to the league as players try and figure out the best combos of enchantments for their various roles, or maybe something like stealth archer gets discovered and everyone just does that.

Lyle Odelein IV is no stranger when it comes to video games. He is a fan of them. He finds them a nice way to relax, a good chance to just zone out and not think about hockey for a moment. If he roomed with a rookie that played an excess of video games, he probably wouldn't say much the first couple of nights, but if it was every night and they were staying up late and it having an impact the next day, Lyle would push them hard at every practice, if they had to work harder during the day, they would be tired at night. They wouldn't want to stay up to the wee hour of the morning if their body was so tired it, it forced them to get sleep. He then help them learn how important good sleep is for them, and that they could still enjoy their pastime, but they would need to do it in moderation. Find a balance between the two things they love to do. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | GP: 14 | G: 2 | A: 14 | P: 16 | +/-: +11 | H: 22 | SB: 24 | S: 13 PIMS: 14

Option 2
So much of the RPG elements of the SHL lean heavily on the Game and much less on the Role Play. This makes sense, considering that it is about simulating hockey first and foremost. However, as the guy on the recruitment team who has been tasked multiple times with finding Roleplay groups to invite them in, comparing what we call "role play" and what they might call RP leaves us severely lacking. That's why I suggest we follow along many Powered by the Apocalypse system and have two separate playbooks, statlines, whatever you want to call them. You have your playbook for on the ice, with all of the relevant stats and abilities we do now. But we also introduce a statpage for representing how players act off the ice. Media darlings and heels, party animals and jobbers, all have different outlooks on why they're on the ice. That way, when we write these PTs or whatever you can invoke the "Media Darling" skill to add +50 to your word count, perhaps. Got too many penalties? Actually, thanks to my "Heel" playbook abilities that enables me a better seed in fantasy draft. The possibilities are endless. |
