First of all, they would never accept that. An elite player for that... They can do better. Second of all, you make it seem like you can't get any good prospects with the 21st pick. I would rather trade next years 1st over this years, this draft is pretty deep. Also if you get Backstrom you are basically saying you don't believe Kadri will become a 1C whereas I say he will be in a year or two, until then Ribeiro could fill that spot.

if you have a chance to get Backstrom you don't take Robeiro instead :lol: under any circumstance. Backstrom is a guy you could build your team around.

Only if the circumstances are right. Personally I want the team to make the playoffs in a full season before we make a transaction that big. Then again Backstrom and Kessel sounds dirty as fuck. Having another player with that talent playing with Kessel could mean 90+ points and 40 goals for Kessel.

Look at the top two centers on the majority of the teams left in the playoffs right now:

Kings - Kopitar, Richards
Bruins - Krejci, Bergeron
Pens - Malkin, Crosby
Hawks - Toews, Bolland (Sometimes Sharp)
Sens - Spezza, Turris (Obviously Spezza is injured)
Sharks - Thornton, Pavelski
Wings - Datsyuk, Filpulla
Rangers - Stepan/Brassard, Richards

So basically what you're saying is you don't want a true number 1 center, one who had a great season and is over a point per game in his career, because then Kadri will have to be a 1B center, rather than the number 1? Every good team needs depth at Center, if Backstrom were available, then I don't see why you would want Ribiero over him unless you have to give up way too much...

To get a player like Backstrom you are going to have to give up too much.

Also Stephan isn't a 1C if you ask me, he is a 2C so it is possible.
