Look at the top two centers on the majority of the teams left in the playoffs right now:

Kings - Kopitar, Richards
Bruins - Krejci, Bergeron
Pens - Malkin, Crosby
Hawks - Toews, Bolland (Sometimes Sharp)
Sens - Spezza, Turris (Obviously Spezza is injured)
Sharks - Thornton, Pavelski
Wings - Datsyuk, Filpulla
Rangers - Stepan/Brassard, Richards

So basically what you're saying is you don't want a true number 1 center, one who had a great season and is over a point per game in his career, because then Kadri will have to be a 1B center, rather than the number 1? Every good team needs depth at Center, if Backstrom were available, then I don't see why you would want Ribiero over him unless you have to give up way too much...

To get a player like Backstrom you are going to have to give up too much.

Also Stephan isn't a 1C if you ask me, he is a 2C so it is possible.
Yes, you likely will, but the proposal posted wasn't even that much and you were against it because of the 21st overall pick

I said I would rather trade next years.

Also just a question, is it Backstrom or Semin that was considered a "lazy player"?

Thanks, I couldn't remember for some reason. I thought it was Backstrom which worried me a little.

Doesn't really matter though, Washington isn't going to trade Backstrom.

Yeah Backy is an elite playmaker imo, I remember when he scored that 100 point season, would take alot from Toronto

Smt like Gardiner+Kadri+1st imo

I could see them wanting Gardiner OR Kadri, 1st and a decent prospect like Finn or Percy. We are not in a place to be making trades like that.

If Washington gave up Backstrom for two unproven prospects a middle of the pack first and a middle class prospect I'd LOL and Washington fans would boycott te team. Sorry but both had 1 good year and one was in a shortened season

Gardiner has the potential to be and elite defenceman well Kadri has the potential to be a PPG player (wouldn't consider him elite). Percy and Finn are decent prospects and you would get another decent prospect with the 1st. That would be the biggest over payment.

But Erats a proven 60point guy with a few years of usabloty for an unproven prospect. Don't get me wrong I love Forsberg (look at both my sigs) but I don't think the trade was that bad. Forsberg is a top 6 forward upside Erats 30 and already top 6 proven. Still don't like the trade but its not as bad as people blow it up to. E

But Washington isn't a rebuilding team and we've seen players bust before(not saying they will). Washington has elite talent in there prime(Ovi,Green). Backstroms 24 ? You don't give that up for potential cuz there's always that potential it doesn't work out 1 of them would have to have proven that they can be that player before you give up a 24 year old number 1 center with a 100 point year

I know Washington is not a rebuilding team. That's why I said they won't trade him anyways. We where just saying IF they did trade him. Also that's the risk in taking prospects. Also Backstrom is barely a PPG in the past 3 years so his 100 point years don't really mean that much IMO.

Hes been in the NHL for 6 years, hes only had 2 years where he wasnt ppg, his rookie season and the season where he played with an injury.

Players like that dont fall off trees.
