It was one of the first things I googled after watching it because I'd never seen her before. And I couldn't get any answers until I looked on Anilyst's page and it said she wouldn't let him tell who she was and he told me the same thing when I asked. ![]() Registered Posting Freak Quote:Originally posted by Alex@Jun 25 2013, 06:46 PM ![]() She is fucking hot though. Jay-Z: Magna Carta Holy Grail - Album Review
![]() 1|Holy Grail ft. Justin Timberlake| 5 - Too much JT on this. 2|Picasso Baby| 5 - Love the beat flip - First beat is fucking dope. Nice drum loops. - You can tell this is an expensive album given how nice this production is. - Jay sounds hungry. More so than he did on his last solo effort. - Second beat is a classic pre blueprint Jay-z beat. He does his thing. 3|Tom Ford| 4.75 - The claps on this are….. Just damn. - You get some of that techno/robotic piano. Sounds like a yeezus throw away. - “Numbers don’t lie check the score board†- Such a Yeezus vibe about 3 mins in. - He doesn’t sound as hungry on this one. - Beyonce definitely the female on this at the end. 4|Fuckwithmeyouknowigotit ft. Rick Ross| 2.50 - A Rick Ross feature? Really? - He has rhymed ***** with ***** like 8 times to start his verse. - Beat is really good. - Piano work is just gat damn. Drums are real dirty south and so far this whole thing has a trap feel to it. 5|Oceans ft. Frank Ocean| 4.25 - What a stupid fucking song title. - Frank comes out with reggae sounding voice. - Production wise this is top notch. - Starting to notice something that I will bring up later. 6|F.U.T.W.| 5 - This is the fucking Jay-Z I am looking for. He comes out just spitting behind I simplistic beat. - FUTW = Fuck Up This World - I really like the strings on this. This isn’t a typical Jigga beat but he rides it very well. - This shit is so eerie. I would expect someone like ASAP or Cudi on this. - So far best song lyrically 7|Somewhere in America| 4.5 - Oh man, these horns and then the fucking piano comes in. Piano has a very warm classical feeling. - You can tell this is another 1 take Jay-Z album (fun fact, he finished the black album in 3 weeks) - “When I was talkin instagram, we weren’t talkin bout ya picturesâ€. How can it go from this great line, to a line talking about Miley Cyrus twerking. - This song was short but sweet. 8|Crown|4 - This is a Travis Scott beat I am pretty sure (Same guy who did I’m in it). - Yup definitely one of his beats. The start is definitely reminiscent of Yeezus. - It is very minimalistic but with some minor touchups to differentiate from the two. - Scott Boras diss on here. - Jay doesn’t sound good on a beat like this. 9|Heaven| 5 - The sample loop on this, is classic hip hop. - The hook is great. It has that classic soul feel. - Jay straight spitting. - Nice little nod to Losing My Religion by REM. - There is definitely a small sample of Dream On by Aerosmith on this one and I love it. - Great song. 10|Versus| N/A - Silky smooth to start this. - The guitar and piano on this is real warm and the 808 drums add a nice touch. - “Your last shit ain’t better than my first shit/Your best shit ain’t better than my worst shit†11|Part II (on the run) ft. Beyonce| 2 - Techno sounding beat with a mix of soul. - Also Beyonce is one of my top 10 musical crushes. - This song has hit single all over it but the chorus has this nice formula to the point where it doesn’t sound run of the mill. - The more and more I listen, the more and more this sounds like a between the sheets you would get from the Isley Brothers. - On its own it is a great song, in the context of the album it just doesn’t fit. 12|Beach is Better| N/A 13|BBC ft. Justin Timberlake, Nas, Beyonce, Swizz Beats, Timbaland & Pharell| 2 - What the fuck is going on here. Everything Timbaland is on is ruined. - Nas drops a very lack luster and uninspired verse. - Jay has run out of things to talk about so he has recycled his normal shit. 14|Jay-Z Blue| 4.5 - Weird fucking intro - Mixing Biggie in with Jay is perfect. RIP to the GOAT. - Also I have trouble feeling sorry for Jay-Z for having to take care of a kid. I will judge you for taking a 3 week vacay to the Hamptons because you are stressed. I mean if only you made 450 million dollars a year then maybe life would be okay. 15|La Familia| 3 - This is La Familia, I’ll explain later. - Love this beat, but damn has the second half of this album been very uninspired. - This sounds like a fucking song Drake would rap. I like Drizzy but come on Jigga, you are better than that. - Liked the ovaries line. - Beat is still great. The whole production has been fantastic 16|Nickles and Dimes| 4 - Love the sample on this. Jay comes in sounding like classic Jay. - “I cut myself today to see if I still bleedâ€. Lines like this make me have hope for the introspective Jay-Z and not the braggy Jay I have become used to since Kingdom Come. - 2 verse is amazing. - Good closing track. Total: 55.5/70 = 3.96/5 I leave this album feeling confused. On one hand you have the best produced album of the year with some solid samples and good hooks. You also have Jay spitting hard on a lot of songs and sounding more like the Jay-Z I used to love (Pre-Blueprint 3). On the other hand though, you get all that I feel is wrong with this Jay-Z. He lacks any substance anymore and he almost sounds complacent in his old age. He raps about being rich, having a shit load of number one albums and being great at pretty much anything. While I enjoyed that on Watch the Throne, it has become played out and now, when he raps about struggles, I have a hard time feeling sorry for him because he can just buy his way out of the hurt. Also, you are Jay-Z, out of all the people you could have had on your album, you bring on Rick Ross? REALLY? He sucked and that song was an early favorite for worst song on the album. That was until I got to Part II and BBC. These two songs were horrendous. The totally didn’t fit the context of the album and was too reminiscent of the travesty known as Blue Print 3. Overall this album has fantastic production and a glimmer of hope that we will get the old Jay back. However we get an uninspired second half and we find that complacent Jay-Z that I have come to know. ![]() ![]() Registered Merica's Lover
I'm on my phone so I can't post a full review but I entirely agree JT. I loooooooooved the first song that hook was my favorite in a long time and they sampled Nirvana haha. And oceans I loved but good god Rick Ross is trash. Anytime Jay raps it's money. Some of the features are awesome others are trash. This album is just everywhere

<div align="center">
![]() Jay-Z - Magna Carta Holy Grail</div> Holy Grail (ft. Justin Timberlake): 4.25/5 -JT is dope as usual, but this is his song. Fuck off Jay, honestly. Jay ruins it. The hook is fire though. Picasso Baby: 3.5/5 -No thanks. The beat is real nice and I agree with JT on the production thus far, but damn does Jay suck here. Like, wtf. Song sucks bad until the beat flip. Love the second beat and Jay kills it. Tom Ford: 2.25/5 -Oh I'm sorry, when did Jay become so wack? Shitty flow and the subject matter <<<<<. Sounds like something by Wayne or French Montana. FuckWithMeYouKnowIGotIt (ft. Rick Ross): 3.5/5 -Beat is killer. Like, this is put on your car stereo type shit. Good and bad since I hate Rick Ross here. Jay's pretty good though. Oceans (ft. Frank Ocean): 4.75/5 -Frank Ocean >>>>>>. Jay's good here as well. Where was this Jay on "Tom Ford"? F.U.T.W.: 4/5 -Hook is lame. Jay's attempt at YOLO. Somewhere in America: 4/5 Crown: 4.25/5 Heaven: 4.5/5 -The hook is awesome, but Jay's verses like with Oceans and other songs, transition awkwardly into it. He uses great hooks, but it's just...ya know? Part II (On the Run) (ft. Beyonce): 4/5 -Beyonce rocks this song, but with everything else here, it's a rocky transition from Jay to singing. Just doesn't work for me. This song definitely has the best transition though (especially when Jay gets a longer verse. Verses 3 and 4 are good transitions, but 1 where Jay gets like 4 bars is just...no. BBC (ft. Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Nas, Swizz Beatz, Timbaland, and Pharrell): 2.5/5 -MCHG's "Summer on Smash". Honestly has same feel. Jay Z Blue: 3.75/5 -Song is pretty good. Just not interesting to me. La Familia: 2.5/5 -Love the shot back at ***** Wayne. Song sucks otherwise. Nickels and Dimes: 4.25/5 52/80 -> 3.71/5 This is after just one listen, because I don't have the time to listen twice, but all the same, I was very excited to check this out. I don't love Jay, but when he drops an album, it's always a huge spectacle, with this album being no different. Early on, I agree with Jt and Maxy here; this album is all over the place. It's like the perfect opposite of GKMC. The quality is low at times and then it's really high just a few songs later. The production is very well done, so major ups fo dat shit. Overall, just not a Jay fan and I think the rating of this album reflects that. ![]() Banned Most Hated
BBC ruined the album for me
How Nas and Hov gonna link up and make some shit where the hook is fucking swizz beats adlibbing 'let's work' every second bar?!?!? Should've done some street shit, I thought Hov said in all those commercials that they were taking it back to embodiment of hip hop. I'm salty. ![]() Registered Merica's Lover ![]() Registered S7, S22 Challenge Cup Champion
Listening to Blueprint right now and fuck man, MCHG just doesn't do it for me at all after listening to the original BP again.
