Leafs Off-Season

Fraser signed reportedly for 1.275m, 1 year

And now with about 4m left in cap and Kadri unsigned and Franson wanting big bucks my thoughts are he'll be moved which a lot of reports are indicating too

Thank you to My boys @Merica and @Ragnar for the lovely sigs!

Would Anaheim want Franson? Thinking DSP and something else for Franson?

Would love that deal. I'd throw in a 2nd rounder or something similar in a deal for Franson

Fuck me. We better make room for Franson. Loved the guy last year. Was one of our more consistent defenders last year. One of the guys who thrived with Carlyle.

Im more scared for next year... Kessel, Phaneuf, Bolland, McClement, Kulemin, Gardiner, Reimer all need new contracts next year. I hope Nonis gets most re-signed during the season. I think trading Kulemin wouldnt be a bad move at the deadline next season if someone like Ashton, Biggs, Ross, D'Amigo looks NHL Ready. It opens up cap space and gives a young player a chance. 2.5Mil opens from the Armstrong and Tucker buyouts. Also 500k from Scrivens/Frattin. I also could see Reimer getting traded by the deadline also if Bernier lives up to the expectations.

7.5 - Kessel - Those Buyouts I listened above takes care of the extra 2.0M

6.0 - Phaneuf - I think he takes a 500k Discount

3.25 - Bolland - Once again similar to his current hit but a few dollars cheaper to stay in Toronto.

2.5 - McClement - 1M Raise - Half Comes from the Retainment of Frattin and Scrivens. and other half is is new cap

2.45 - Gardiner - 2 Year Bridge Contract

+ 1,833,333 in Extra Cap and I expect its projected to go up to 68.0 By the 2014-15 Season. The situation isnt that bad of people think it is and if players take a few dollars shy of their current contract to stay it will be even better. I think Nonis knows what he is doing and people on HF and the internet in general need to stop freaking out.

I know its early as shit to speculate this shit but next year will be even more important for contracts. The cap situation wont be that bad, we could get a clearer idea when Kadri re-signs and if Franson does.

Here is what I see happening.

Kessel - 7.5M - 8M
Phaneuf - 5.5M - 6M if not traded
Bolland - not sure
McClement - 1.5M - 2M He loves and wants to play for us
Gardiner - 2.5M Bridge deal
Reimer - 4M - 5M if not traded

If Reimer proves everyone wrong one more time I believe he is going to be our goalie. I'm not sure what Berniers current deal is but if it ends next year like Reimers then he gets traded at deadline. If its longer then we hold onto him for another year or so then trade him.

I would like to keep Kulemin because he is a very responsible defensive player who can have an offensive upside. I like him tbh.

Next year won't be a problem with the cap going up again.

They've still won the same amount of cups in the last 10 years as every other Canadian team. Tongue

Lol yeah I just hate when people use playoffs as a measuring stick for success, if you don't win the cup you achieved just as much as 28 other teams in the league. (I'm a Ducks fan so it has nothing to do with the Leafs or anything) but it's still just annoying to me whoopee you got to play 7 extra games and got a shitty draft pick before going golfing

I loved how last year before the season started everyone just blew the Leafs off saying they would be a bottom team again. They finish strong in 5th and people are still underestimating them for this season when they look even stronger.
