Kelowna Knights Press Release, 1-23-2020.

Right before we are about to start with the S52 pre-season it’s time to announce your captains for the Kelowna Knights. But before we start doing that I would like to say a few words about the organisational changes.

Josef Novotny (@foehammer007) has retired as a player and has left the Kelowna Knights organisation. We are very grateful for the time he was with the team and respect his decision to not pursue a career in the SHL. You are welcome to visit us anytime.

I would also like to thank NJBadApple (@NJBadApple) for his time as GM of the Kelowna Knights after stepping down. Unfortunately we weren’t able to give you the prize you so eagerly want, the Four Star Cup. Though we have more opportunities on the horizon with you as a player for our team.

During the draft we have strengthen our ranks with some fresh rookies.

Andrey Barbashev II (@RaiN)

Now in his 4th season with the Kelowna Knights, Andrey Barbashev II has been a tremendous leader in our locker room and is one of our top 6 forwards. He scored 20 goals last season and came just short of 40 points. With him being appointed as an alternate captain is a reward for his on and off ice performance.

Your second alternate captain is…

Adam Scianna (@RedCapeDiver)

His second season with the Knights organisation and was recently drafted by the Texas Renegades with their 3rd overall pick. Adam Scianna has quickly adapted himself to the Kelowna organisation and has become a leader of the team. Because of this he is rewarded with being our second alternate captain for the upcoming SMJHL season. 

And finally we can reveal that your next seasons captain for the Kelowna Knights is....

Ryan Shepard (@Naosu)

His second year as a captain and his 4th season with the Knights. Ryan Shepard was awarded with the Jackson Rogers-Tanaka Award which is awarded to the the player who displays outstanding dedication to the team. We were thrilled to learn that Ryan Shepard was staying with us for another season. Not only does Ryan Shepard eat, sleeps and breath Kelowna Knights, he is a strong force out on the ice and that’s why he is our captain for the next season!
