First Period:

St. Louis wins the opening faceoff and immediately moves into the Falcons zone, Hernadivic shoots but it's blocked by Wartooth.  We have an early penalty here, Mitsuharu for hooking at 1:49. Not a great start here for the Scarecrows. Detroit on the powerplay now. They manage two shots on the powerplay both stopped by Doyle. The teams trade chances back and forth until halfway through the period. 9 minutes in St. Louis tries to enter the zone but they're offsides. The 4th line comes on the ice for St. Louis, who have been doing some damage lately.  Reyer wins the faceoff and skates into the zone.  Finds Darzins at the circle and he one times it in! St. Louis breaks the ice first with a goal and the home crowd is going wild.  4th line stays on the ice after scoring the goal. Reyers wins another faceoff and sets up some pressure in the Falcon zone. Mega Tron jumps on the ice to begin a line change, gets the puck and shoots! Stopped by Jobin but it rebounds right back to Mega Tron who stuffs it home! Less than a minute later and another goal to put St. Louis up 2-0.  Detroit pours on some pressure in the St. Louis zone, but Doyle makes three incredible saves and finally freezes the puck. Danny Marston wins a faceoff and is able to clear the Scarecrows zone. He skates it up the zone and see Hernadivic break loose on the opposite wing, cross ice pass to Aron who wrists it and it flutters but sneaks past Jobin! The bouncing puck was hard to track and it is 3-0 St. Louis.  This game is quickly getting out of hand. Detroit needs to regroup. 17 minutes into the 1st, Reyer wins yet another faceoff and enters the zone for St. Louis.. He shoots and it's over the shoulder of Jobin but off the post! That puck found the crossbar and stayed out.  Another late flurry of shots by St. Louis but they are all off target and the period ends.  Doyle made 8 saves on 8 shots while Jobin struggled with only 6 saves on 9 shots. We'll see what kind of adjustments they make in the second period.

Second Period:

Luke McMaster wins the opening faceoff for Detroit and rifles a quick shot in on Doyle just 4 second in. Tried to catch her napping, but she makes the save and freezes. St Louis wins the faceoff and tries to enter the Detroit zone but they are offsides.  Little bit of a scuffle here and we're going to have another penalty on St. Louis.  Flash Gordon for hooking at 56 seconds in.  Not only will St. Louis be short handing but they're losing one of their main penalty killers. Let's see if Detroit can capitalize on this chance here.  1:31, Jmac NCheese takes a shot, gets a nice tip from Manzi but just barely goes wide. Detroit regroups in the zone.  Shot by Guy O'Shea and it's in! Detroit cashes in the powerplay for their first goal of the game. It's now 3-1. Can they come back? The teams trade chances back and forth for 5 or 6 minutes with both Jobin and Doyle making stops. 11 minutes in and Edward Williams dumps the puck into the zone and goes for a line change. Top line comes out for Detroit.  Doyle plays the puck behind the net and passed to Borys Franciszek, Franciszek pass to Reyer, and it's intercepted by Luke McMaster, sets up a two on one.. pass to Jmac NCheese and he punches it 5 hole on the sliding Doyle.. what a bad turnover that was.  It's 3-2 now and Detroit is making things interesting. McMaster wins the faceoff and tries for another! Doyle hangs on and freezes it for a faceoff.  12 minutes in and St. Louis is going on the powerplay.  Two minutes to Khabib Nurmagomedov for holding. Detroit wins the faceoff and kills some time.  St. Louis finally gets the cycle set up. Puck goes to Gordon on the blue line and he blasts a one-timer but Jobin saw it all the way. Easy save and freeze.  Detroit wins the faceoff yet again.  St. Louis struggling to get anything going here on the powerplay. Just one shot on goal and it's back to even strength.  The linesman has his arm up again, this time against St. Louis.  Two minutes for a slash on Borys Franciszek. St. Louis wins the faceoff and kills some time.  Detroit is a little slow to get going here.  No shots on goal for the Powerplay.  Wanesley gets a shot on Doyle and she freezes it.  Reyer wins the faceoff against Edward Williams and oh man Reyer is down and holding his face.  Looks like Williams got his stick up high.  Reyers gets checked out at the bench and he seems to be OK.  Powerplay now for St. Louis. Ruslan takes a shot, misses the net. Reyer is back out on the ice now and collects the loose puck, shoots! Save by Jobin and he melts it down.  Reid Sutherland wins the faceoff and takes it into the zone.  Late flurry here by Detroit.  Zoltan shoots, blocked by Erben Kasius, shot by Josh Fantobens, blocked by Alex Reyer, shot by Reid Sutherland.. Doyle gets a piece... but it's off the post and in! Detroit has tied the game at 3 apiece... what action we have going here. The horn goes and the crowd here in St. Louis is starting to get a little nervous. This period was the opposite of the first.  Jobin made 8 saves on 8 shots, while Doyle made 8 saves on 11 shots.

Third Period:

St. Louis needs to shake off that last period and pretend it's zero-zero.  They can still punch their ticket to the finals with a good period here.  McMaster wins the opening faceoff but Marston immediately takes it away from him. Passes to Aron Hernadivic who skates it into the zone, he shoots! Whistles just wide.  Loose puck picked up by Mega Tron behind the net.. shoots from the extreme angle and it's in! Did that go off Jobin's back? 21 seconds in and it's 4-3 St. Louis.  Edward Williams skates it into the St. Louis zone but he fumbles the puck and it's picked up by Erben Kasius, nice back-checking there, outlets the zone to Ruslan Zaperozhets and we're off to the races, odd-man break for St. Louis. Head man pass to James Ronlain who's in all alone on Jobin, forehand, backhand and flips it up over the shoulder. Knocks off the water bottle, highlight reel goal there.  56 seconds in and it's 5-3 St. Louis.  That's going to do it for Jobin and he heads to the bench.  Out comes Oleg Igorivich Burov to replace him. St. Louis begins to pepper Burov with shots, but he holds firm. First a save on Mitsuharu, then on Lebrunette.  Two and a half minutes in and Eric Hudson gets rocked by Toki Wartooth and he's slow to get up.  Didn't see that one coming. They're calling Wartooth for roughing.  He's arguing it was a clean hit but they're escorting him to the sin bin.  Hudson is up now and appears to be OK.  Ruslan takes a shot and Burov catches and freezes it.  Trey Nets wins the faceoff and keeps the zone for St. Louis.  Shot by Flash Gordon from the point, too easy as Burov sees that and gloves it. Two seconds left and now Wartooth is back out and the PP is over.  Burov is looking solid so far in relief.  Two shots on that powerplay but St. Louis unable to cash in.  Six minutes in, faceoff between Edward Williams and Ruslan Zaperozhets, Williams wins it but Zap gives him a quick shove. Things are getting chippy out there right now. Two minutes to Ruslan for roughing and Detroit is going on the powerplay.  Detroit manages one shot on the powerplay but they can't cash in.  In the 11th minute now, Cassidy Lhotsky skates it into the zone and sets up a cycle.. to Sulfurgold, back to Lhotsky, to McMaster and he shoots and scores! High glove on Doyle and it's 5-4.  Desperation time now for Detroit, can they tie the game up? 17 minutes in and Detroit is pushing hard.  Sutherland wins a faceoff and skates it into the zone, shoots! And that misses wide, Patty Kane II collects the loose puck and shoots again! Doyle makes the save but she can't control the puck and it bounces wide. Guy O'Shea finds the puck and flings it on net and Doyle gloves it and stops play.  St. Louis relieves the pressure and sets up some pressure of their own in the Detroit zone.  Shot by Mega Tron, misses wide, collects his own miss and Mega Tron shoots again, tipped out front by Marston but trickles just wide, puck makes it's way up to Axel Mezsaros on the blue line and he shoots, blocked by Fred Wanesly, Aron Hernadivic manages to find the puck and shoots as well but misses wide! Detroit really needs to clear the zone, time is running out. Khabib Nurmagomedov finally knocks the puck loose and clears the zone. Burov starts to head to the bench for the extra attacker but the whistle goes and blows the play dead. Nurmagomedov is going off for crosschecking.  The last two minutes of this game are going to be a St. Louis powerplay and that's going to make it very difficult for Detroit to come back. Detroit is able to dump it in shorthanded a couple times but not set up an offense and the horn blows and this game is over. Doyle made 3 saves on 4 shots and that was enough.  Burov stopped all 5 shots he saw in relief but it was too little too late.

The fans here in St. Louis are going nuts! St. Louis hasn't been back to the finals since they won it all back in Season 46. They will face the Anaheim Outlaws who swept the Carolina Kraken and are sitting waiting.  Anaheim has home ice for this series and so the fans here will have to wait till game 3. Stay tuned to the SHL Network as later tonight we'll bring you live coverage of Game 1 of the SMJHL Four Star Cup finals from Anaheim.  We'll see you then and thanks for watching this exciting game rewind.
