S52 Casino Recap

With the playoffs coming to an end and Manhattan lifting that glorious challenge cup, I thought it might be time to finally get around to doing this. The casino sheet is updated/fully color coded so you may all see who lost and who won.

Buffalo Stampede
Over/Under 28.5 games
Current Record: 28-19-3
On Pace For: Under Betters Win
Over Bets: 0
Under Bets: 5

The Stampede were able to clinch the 4th seed in a stacked eastern conference this season where they looked dominant in their first two rounds as they pulled off an upset on the top dogs this season in Hamilton, until falling to the eventual champs. As for the betting line, the Stampede just barely slipped under the win line, seeming to fall apart a bit at the tail end of the season. Congrats to all betters!

Calgary Dragons
Over/Under 28.5 games
Current Record: 24-22-4
On Pace For: Under Betters Win
Over Bets: 2
Under Bets: 14

Calgary was able to pick themselves up after their disastrous start as they finished with 24 wins on the season as they edged past Winnipeg for the 5th seed in the western conference. Fortunately for betters the resurgence wasn’t enough for them to get 29 wins as under betters won quite handedly. Congrats to under betters on this one!

Chicago Syndicate
Over/Under 25.5 games
Current Record: 29-16-5
On Pace For: Over Betters Win
Over Bets: 18
Under Bets: 0

Chicago once again crushed the betting line this season as they went 3 win over what was needed for our 18 betters here. As for the playoffs, they put up a good fight against Manhattan with the series going 7 games which was the longest series for Manhattan on their route to a cup. Congrats to all betters!

Edmonton Blizzard
Over/Under 27.5 games
Current Record: 29-18-3
On Pace For: Over Betters Win
Over Bets: 2
Under Bets: 0

Edmonton were looking like the dominant team they have been these past few seasons to end this one as they went 7-3 in their last ten games. Unfortunately for them that didn’t seem to transition over to the playoffs as the Specters were able to defeat them in 6 games. Congrats to all betters!

Hamilton Steelhawks
Over/Under 27.5 games
Current Record: 33-15-2
On Pace For: Over Betters Win
Over Bets: 13
Under Bets: 2

A very dominant season for the former champs here as they claimed 33 wins on the season, making them the team to beat. They didn't seem able to reclaim that magic in the playoffs however this season as they fell to the Stampede in just 5 games. Congrats to over betters!

Los Angeles Panthers
Over/Under 27.5 games
Current Record: 25-21-4
On Pace For: Under Betters Win
Over Bets: 5
Under Bets: 3

Finally a win for the casino….. Los Angeles on paper fielded a very good roster this season which allowed them to get to those 25 wins but unfortunately for betters, raised the bar a bit too high for them. Was a quick end to the postseason for the Panthers as they were defeated by Calgary in a close 7 game series. Congrats to the 3 under betters on this one!

Manhattan Rage
Over/Under 27.5 games
Current Record: 28-21-1
On Pace For: Over Betters Win
Over Bets: 3
Under Bets: 2

It wasn’t a very beautiful or graceful ending for the Manhattan regular season as they only won 3 more wins since our last update and fell well under what they were on pace for. But that doesn’t really matter seeing as they came into the playoffs as the second seed for the East and came back on top of the league as they took out some of the best teams in the SHL to claim their challenge cup. Congrats Manhattan and to all over betters!

Minnesota Chiefs
Over/Under 19.5
Current Record: 19-24-7
On Pace For: Under Betters Win
Over Bets: 7
Under Bets: 0

It’s probably because Gibbles has never regressed but the Chiefs were able to match their last season record to the sad demise of all betters. Minnesota might not have been able to make it to playoffs this go around but they are a young roster that teams will have to be careful about in the upcoming season. The casino will be taking all the cash on this one.

New England Wolfpack
Over/Under 25.5
Current Record: 24-19-7
On Pace For: Under Betters Win
Over Bets: 13
Under Bets: 1

Ah I’m sure many of you are disappointed in this one for a variety of reasons. Very unfortunate season for the Wolfpack as they came into season 52 with a stacked roster but were just barely ousted by a surprising Toronto team for the 5th seed. Might not have made playoffs this season but definitely a team to be wary off next season.  Congrats to the one under better!

New Orleans Specters
Over/Under 28.5
Current Record: 25-18-7
On Pace For: Under Betters Win
Over Bets: 7
Under Bets: 1

Another one better win as the Specters weren’t able to come close to the dominant season that they were having last time. They were however able to obtain the 2nd seed in the Western after going 6-4 to end their season. In the playoffs they looked great as they defeated the Blizzard and just barely lost to the Pride in a back and forth 7 game series. Congrats to the one under better once again!

San Francisco Pride
Over/Under 26.5
Current Record: 31-12-7
On Pace For: Over Betters Win
Over Bets: 2
Under Bets: 4

Seems I was wrong about there not being any bets on this team. Definitely a surprising season for the Pride as they were second best in the entire league with 31 wins which was good for 1st seed. Second best stayed true for them after the playoffs ended as their playoff run came to an end by the hands of Manhattan in the challenge cup finals. Congrats to the 2 over betters on this one!

Tampa Bay Barracudas
Over/Under 25.5
Current Record: 16-30-4
On Pace For: Under Betters Win
Over Bets: 1
Under Bets: 12

Sad to see what this Tampa roster has become this season. The water dogs will definitely be going into rebuild mode after a dismantling of the team which resulted in a disappointing 16 win season. It is quite fortunate for betters however as only 1 out of 13 bets placed on tampa were for over so congrats to all under bets!

Texas Renegades
Over/Under 18.5
Current Record: 20-26-4
On Pace For: Over Betters Win
Over Bets: 4
Under Bets: 1

The Renegades were only able to eek out a 2-8 record for their last ten games to end this season which sadly ended their potential playoff chances as they fell to last in the western conference. With the top prospect pool however, their future is looking bright as Texas will be a team to look out for in a few seasons. Congrats to over betters on their win!

Toronto North Stars
Over/Under 17.5
Current Record: 24-19-7
On Pace For: Over Betters Win
Over Bets: 9
Under Bets: 2

The surprise of the season right here. Toronto miraculously finished with a 24 win season after some very unexpected seasons from their offense which was good enough for the 5th seed in the eastern conference. Despite a good showing in the playoffs from their rookies, the North Stars defense just wasn’t enough to hold back the Stampede in a postseason sweep. Congrats to all over betters!

West Kendall Platoon
Over/Under 22.5
Current Record: 21-28-1
On Pace For: Under Betters Win
Over Bets: 3
Under Bets: 2

West Kendall finished their regular season with a 21 win record. Definitely wasn’t as close as it could have been but the Platoon finished off the season going 4-6 which was 2 wins under what was needed for our 3 over betters here. Congrats to under betters!

Winnipeg Jets
Over/Under 23.5
Current Record:  24-26-0
On Pace For: Over Betters Win
Over Bets: 0
Under Bets: 3

The Jets might not have started off in the best way this season but ending with a 5 game winning streak to end it allowed for them to just barely pass the 23.5 win line we set out for them. Unfortunately that wasn’t good enough for them to appear in this years playoffs but still a 24 win season is still a good one. Casino will be taking some money back.

This season the casino unfortunately seems to have lost a lot more than what we won but was a fun season here in the casino nonetheless. You guys did go 4-16 (Congrats to the 4 that won their parlays!) on the parlays this season so maybe it wasn’t so bad.

With the switch to FHM next season, the casino will be needing a bit of a revamping behind the scenes. Could be interesting to see but hopefully we get it right so there aren’t an overwhelming loss on either side.

As for the pick-em leagues I would like to congratulate aaronwilson and BDonini on their first place finishes!

Thank you everyone who participated in the casino this season and I hope to see you all back next season!
