The Story of OJ Simpson
#1

No not the Real one, the SHL one, when OJ Simpson created in S13 as a defenseman, and was drafted to the Los Angeles Panthers, and surprise, that pick was apart of a trade in 2/6/13

2/6/13

LAP - Chris-McZehrl
WKP S13 2nd [Erik Karlsson], TEX S13 2nd [Benjamin Booth], HAM S13 2nd [OJ Simpson], LAP S13 3rd [Pass], HAM S13 3rd [Pass]

Brandon Cant, LAP S14 2nd [Traded to TOR], LAP S14 3rd [Jording FourFour] http://simulationhockey.com/showthread.php?tid=20318

And his 2nd, was specifically 20th OA, (also to note LAP had 5/12 2nd round picks) was to pick OJ Simpson.

That season after being drafted, with LAP, he put up 18 points in 50 games, then 26 points in S14. Then in S15 he dipped a bit and had 21 points, but in S16 he became a breakout defenseman, getting 36 points in 50 games.

That season he was a finalist for the Stevens Trophy as well, becoming one of the best defenseman in the league.

He was then getting traded away to Edmonton as Simpson himself asked out or he would walk in FA.

Luckily for Simpson, Edmonton were recent Cup Winners in S15 and S16.

LAP - wasty
Alex Andrezjeck, Vinny Chezno, EDM S17 1st[Traded to MIN], EDM S18 2nd[Mathias Lundgren]

EDM - teztify
OJ Simpson, Adam Johansson, LAP S18 3rd[traded] http://simulationhockey.com/showthread.php?tid=31623

With OJ being the main center piece in the trade, he is one of the best Defenseman in the league at that moment, it was a hefty price, but one that is made in order to try to get Edmonton the Triple cups.

Vinny Chenzo only spend 1 season in LAP, putting up some good points there before retiring. Also Andrezjeck on the other hand played 7 seasons with LAP, before getting traded back to EDM, as a roster filler that that point.

That season that Edmonton traded for Simpson, he put up a disappointing 20 points in those 50 games. To put more salt in the wound, Los Angeles won the cup in S17, a season after trading one of their best defenseman, missing the cup in both circumstances.

Then bouncing back the next season with 31 points, but then the season after that one he put up only 18 points, his lowest since his rookie season. In his final season in Edmonton, in 37 points he put up 21 points, and then was traded to Hamilton, almost 8 months after getting traded to Edmonton.

Note, this is the season where Simpson retires, so Edmonton is trying to get a big back.

In his final season he did not win a challenge cup, and ended his 9 season SHL career with a Stevens Finalist and a SHL Second Team All Star in S16.

It may not be a player that has had a long term success, or even a strong short season success, but a player that had a couple good seasons, and tried to win the cup.
