S40 Top 5 TPE - Week 1 (2x media)
#1

Double Media Week 1 (word count 1365)

I am a simple stats guy and I love going through players stats looking at how much or how little they have performed.  Doing these articles adds a pay incentive so I enjoy them even more.  The last edition I made was on S39 draftees and now I will do a similar one for S40.

The information I will be gathering is coming from the SHL entry draft thread, the player analyzer TPE sheet, and of coarse our great friend who holds all the stats for us in one big mess, bojobox.

Top S40 TPE Players

Dragons  D- Otis B. Driftwood (TPE: 1711)
Panthers  F- GOD McZehrl (TPE: 1655)
Renegades  F- Manuel Gotze (TPE: 1635)
Wolfpack  D- Ensio Kalju (TPE: 1528)
Dragons  F- Shooter McGavin (TPE: 1111)

The following top TPE players of this draft were drafted in the first round, Driftwood, Gotze and Kalju, you will also see that I have added up their career games played and point totals beside their names.

Round 1:

 1. [Image: stampede.png] Buffalo Stampede - Conor McGregor
 2. [Image: dragons.png] Calgary Dragons (via Seattle Riot) - Otis B Driftwood SHL Career >>   550gp - 61g - 352pts
 3. [Image: renegades.png] Texas Renegades (via Manhattan Rage) - Iam Essellemm
 4. [Image: stars.png] Toronto North Stars - Luuk Kraaijkamp
 5. [Image: pride-new.png] San Francisco Pride - FORFEIT
 6. [Image: renegades.png] Texas Renegades - FORFEIT
 7. [Image: stars.png] Toronto North Stars (via Seattle Riot via West Kendall Platoon) - Florence Clijsters
 8. [Image: riot.png] Seattle Riot (via Edmonton Blizzard) - Ensio Kalju SHL Career >> 550gp -  84g -  329pts
 9. [Image: dragons.png] Calgary Dragons - Jack Daniels
10. [Image: riot.png] Seattle Riot (via Toronto North Stars via Hamilton Steelhawks) - Blaine McElroy
11. [Image: wolfpack4.png] New England Wolfpack - Manuel Gotze SHL Career >>  550gp - 170g - 382pts
12. [Image: jets.png] Winnipeg Jets - Kire Yelkrab
13. [Image: panthers.jpg] Los Angeles Panthers - Mikkel Haugen
14. [Image: chiefs.png] Minnesota Chiefs - Radovan Hudec

D- Otis B. Driftwood has played all his 550 games with the team that drafted him, the Calgary Dragons.  It wasn't until season 47 where we see him explode offensively and has a career high 46 assists as well as 53 points.  His highest goal production output was in S49 were he tallied 13 goals.  Sound defensively too, seen by his willingness to block shots regularly with 50+ blocks a season, but S46 he set new highs at 82 blocked shots.

D- Ensio Kalju not as offensive as Driftwood but still manages to get the job done.  His best season came in S47 where he totaled 42 points to go with his 14 goals.  A more impressive number would be his blocked shots, where he has managed to pass the 70+ blocked shots a season 4 times in his career in S40, S47, S49, S50.  In S49 he set the bar high for himself at a carerr high 92 blocked shots.

F- Manuel Gotze had his best season in S48 where he scored 27 goals and finished off the season with 48 points.  Although a decent producer but his wow factor to me is more inclined towards his ability to distribute the body checks on a regular basis.  Multiple seasons of 160+ hits to his credit until we get to S51 where he dished out a grand total of 222 body checks.

Round 2:

15. [Image: Rage-Emote.png] Manhattan Rage (via Seattle Riot) - Reginald Rove
16. [Image: stars.png] Toronto North Stars (via Manhattan Rage) - Gilmore Tuttle
17. [Image: stampede.png] Buffalo Stampede - Daddy Mack
18. [Image: riot.png] Seattle Riot (via Toronto North Stars - Michael O'Dowd
19. [Image: wolfpack4.png] New England Wolfpack (via San Francisco Pride) - Viktor Valentine
20. [Image: Rage-Emote.png] Manhattan Rage (via Texas Renegades) - Paz Tappers
21. [Image: Rage-Emote.png] Manhattan Rage (via West Kendall Platoon) - Asti-Tabarnak Fleur-De-Lys-LaPoutine III
22. [Image: Rage-Emote.png] Manhattan Rage (via Edmonton Blizzard) - Quinn Cullen
23. [Image: Rage-Emote.png] Manhattan Rage (via Calgary Dragons) - Eri Arai
24. [Image: pride-new.png] San Francisco Pride (via New England Wolfpack via Hamilton Steelhawks) - Rainier Cartwright-Davis
25. [Image: pride-new.png] San Francisco Pride (via New England Wolfpack) - Jackson Conklin
26. [Image: pride-new.png] San Francisco Pride (via New England Wolfpack) - Daniel Garland
27. [Image: jets.png] Winnipeg Jets (via Los Angeles Panthers) - Jean-Luc Picard
28. [Image: dragons.png] (via Manhattan Rage. via Minnesota Chiefs) - Shooter McGavin SHL Career >>  550gp - 183g - 396pts

F- Shooter McGavin makes the list at 5th best TPE earner of his class but was drafted last in the 2nd round.  Here is some bang for your buck, producing 3 consecutive seasons of 20+ goals from S46 to S48 and hitting the 20 goal plateau a 4th time in S50 where he set career high numbers with 23 goals.  Also worth mentioning, he had a season of 50 and 54 points.

Round 3:

29. [Image: renegades.png] Texas Renegades (via Seattle Riot) - Walter Hobbs
30. [Image: renegades.png] Texas Renegades (via Manhattan Rage) - James Dekens
31. [Image: stampede.png] Buffalo Stampede - GOD McZehrl SHL Career >>  550gp - 102g - 334pts
32. [Image: stars.png] Toronto North Stars - Greg Connors
33. [Image: stars.png] Toronto North Stars (via San Francisco Pride) - Aleksandr Aleksandrov Jr
34. [Image: stampede.png] Buffalo Stampede (via Texas Renegades) - Papa Huligans
35. [Image: platoon2.png] West Kendall Platoon - Pass
36. [Image: stars.png] Toronto North Stars (via Edmonton Blizzard) - Pass
37. [Image: dragons.png] Calgary Dragons - Pass
38. [Image: Rage-Emote.png] Manhattan Rage (via Hamilton Steelhawks) - Crystal Roy
39. [Image: panthers.jpg] Los Angeles Panthers (via New England Wolfpack) - Grimm Wastlund
40. [Image: jets.png] Winnipeg Jets - Jensen Trygg
41. [Image: panthers.jpg] Los Angeles Panthers - Pass
42. [Image: jets.png] Winnipeg Jets (via Minnesota Chiefs) - Markus Kane

F- God McZerhl is second in TPE on this list and was drafted deep in the class at 31st overall.  A pat on the back for the Buffalo management for scouting correctly and reaping the benefits from it.  Probably best known for his passing skills as he has only one 20 goal season to his credit where he also posted career highs in points with 48.  His best assist total was in S49, fresh start to a new beginning in Minnesota saw him rack up 30 assists and 45 points.
