With the S53 playoffs completed, Canada has announced their squad for the coming World Junior Championships tournament. Along with some familiar faces, the squad will be featuring three promising Season 55 newcomers. After barely missing out on the gold medal last season, Canada will be aiming to return to the top in what will be Jack Kanoff's first tournament as Canada’s WJC GM.

CENTERS:

Morgan Forestier ( @crutch Knights

): The former 3rd overall pick in the SMJHL Draft, Forestier, put up 27 points last season in Kelowna while boasting a strong all around game with 40 hits and 48 shots blocked to pair with his +/- of 9 and 8.24 Shot%. Forestier represented his country at the last WJC as well, putting up 7 points during the round robin stage with 7 hits to go with it.

Daniel LaForest (@Snoopdogg Knights

): Playing behind Forestier will be his Kelowna teammate, Daniel LaForest. LaForest is a valuable user in the Team Canada LR and has a very valuable player to pair with it. He was taken 7th overall in the S53 SMJHL Draft and had 11 points in limited time for the eventual 4 Star runner ups.

Guy LeGrande (@Steve

): The better Steve on the Berserkers had his fair share of success in his rookie season, putting up 18 points during the regular season. He also showcased a deadly shot with an 11.76 shot% and a strong two-way game as he had 24 hits and 36 shots blocked.

Wile Coyote (@Brucehum ): Wile is a S55 prospect we all in Canada are extremely excited for. We have hopes in them to do well while donning the red and white and chasing the ever so pesky roadrunner.

WINGERS

THICC CHEEZY ( @sailingdrumstick Timber

): THICC is no new face to the Canadian team and the elite passer will be returning after a down season in the J. Cheezy will be looking to bounce back following a season in which he only had 18 points and a +/- of -14.

Carlos Brown ( @CB2212 Raptors

): Carlos enjoyed a fantastic season while playing for Colorado. In his second season in the J Carlos had 14 goals and 4 assists, all while showcasing his extraordinary shooting ability with a 15.91 shot%. Carlos also showed a strong two-way game with 50 shots blocked and 72 hits.

Rotticus Scott ( @RotticusScott Knights

): Rotti is an okay guy who’s player is kinda bad. He had a measly 8 points in 48 games, all while finishing his season with a 2.78 shooting% and a -9 turnover ratio. For Team Canada’s sake we hope he can do at least a little better, but Rotti is still an amazing person and we all love him for who he is.

Kyle Sutton ( @CrazyMojito Timber

): Kyle has been a bright spot on a poor Maine Timber team and had 26 points over the course of the regular season. The 37th overall pick has proven to be a steal in the SMJHL Draft and in Canada we hope to see him continue to shine bright like the star he is.

Johnny Patey (@Patey ): Patey is someone who’s had a history in playing for Canada. Last season he had 5 points in the Round Robin and in Canada we’re excited to have the talented forward represent our World Juniors team once again.

Jason Desrouleaux (@Gooney ): Gooney is a well known figure across the SHL and his spider fetish is something we could use in the LR. All memes aside however, he has a strong all around game and played well in limited time with Vancouver, putting up 3 points and 5 shots blocked in 13 games.

Devin Basher (@HanTheMan_ ): Just like Wile and Jason Desrouleaux, Basher is another one of our prized S55 prospects. They are part of the bright future in Canada and we hope to see them thrive in the SMJHL and the SHL soon.

DEFENCEMEN

Luc-Pierre Lespineau-Lebrunette (@Your Mothers Favorite Goalie Scarecrows

): Despite being a walking meme during the SimonT era, LPLL has come back with a vengeance. The enforcer hit everyone in sight with 216 hits during the SMJHL season and had 41 shots blocked. He was a force to be reckoned with defensively as he averaged a DGR of 85 during the SMJHL season. Paired with offensive defenceman Jack Kanoff, the two could end up being a strong duo during the tournament.

PBJ Souppan (@thevoicelesscreator Berserkers

): PBJ is a highly touted rookie from our country. The young offensive dynamo was taken 3rd overall in the SMJHL Draft and has a bright future ahead of him despite some of his struggles as a rookie.

Renji Atake (@Justice Berserkers

): Paired with PBJ will be a familiar face to him in Renji Atake. The two were teammates in Newfoundland and will hope to actually win for once as they get the opportunity to play for another team. The all around defenceman also had solid offensive output with 16 points and he’ll look to add his firepower on the national stage in WJC.

Will Windsor (@Allegiant Timber

): The defenceman taken 27th overall had a solid season in the minors. Despite the lack of offensive success, Windsor had an incredible season defensively while putting up 99 hits and 132 blocked shots.

Devin Williams (@MrRuihu Knights

): The offensive defenseman failed to score any goals in his rookie season, however, he had a solid season in the J with the 4-Star runner ups Kelowna. He’ll look to score his first career goal in WJC and hopefully on behalf of Canada, he does.

Chet Hillier (@Stadacona Outlaws

): The all around defenceman had a good season in the SMJHL but following a spark in the midseason, has shown some serious improvement and will attempt to showcase his talents at the upcoming WJC tournament.

Simon Moreau (@treant Timber

): The do-it all defenceman will be making a triumphant return to WJC on behalf of Canada. He was a rock solid defenceman for the Timber and will help provide some of the Canadian goalies with support throughout the tournament.

Luciano Vessot (@NJBadApple Knights

): One of the core defencemen for the 4-Star finalists, Kelowna, Vessot quietly enjoyed a good season with 23 points, 69 hits (nice) and 37 blocked shots while soaking up 22 minutes a night

GOALIES

Frans Eller (@Ace Kraken

): Frans Eller was one of the best goalies despite playing for one of the worst teams in the SMJHL in Carolina. He was 4th in SV% and only had the 6th highest GAA despite facing the 3rd most shots. He has shined on the international stage, both in IIHF and WJC and will provide a solid backbone for this Canadian team.

Separa Borro (@Lyezech Outlaws

): Borro will be making his Canadian WJC debut this season following a good season in Anaheim. He had an 18-11 record while finishing with a 2.82 GAA and .901 SV%.
