Hi guys, quick press conference as I am slated to go up to Winnipeg for the S55 season. Ask away about anything!

Mr. Kostitsyn has asked that his privacy be respected, and I have agreed to do so. 07-13-2020, 05:31 AMMuerto Wrote: - Some of my favourite memories of my SMJHL career... probably being told the night before the draft that I was being picked 2nd overall by the Detroit Falcons. That was a completely awesome and lucky break for me because it is impossible that a better locker room exists than the one in the Falcons. Everyone is supportive of each other, we share interests, lots of action happening and no one is left behind. Winning the S53 Four Star Cup with them, of course - that was a nail-biting, blood-pressure-raising, heart-pounding playoff run as we had tapered off at the end of the season, and then being brought to the brink AGAIN(!!!) by the St. Louis Scarecrows... we were on tenterhooks that entire Game 7. Being contacted by Kez, and told that he was interested in drafting me, and then him moving up to 1st to secure my pick - that was crazy. I still believe that I would have been there at 4th but what do I know, I'm no SHL GM. This season - which was a season to completely forget, to be honest - my favourite memory would probably be the period right before Game 7 against Newfoundland. Win or lose, a lot of us knew that would be our last game for the Falcons as a large majority of us were going to get called up to the big leagues. There was such an outpouring of support and thanks for each other, and acceptance... we knew that win or lose what we had as the S53 Falcons would never be taken away. -Jobin. I am going to run the crap out of him whenever we see the Steelhawks. Just kidding - I think that when Edward Williams gets called up to the Texas Renegades, I'm going to enjoy smashing him into the boards. -They would of course, have to be gold-plated pucks, and the full 50-puck bag of course. Nothing less will be acceptable 07-13-2020, 07:36 AMcharlieconway Wrote: -I still have one thing that I want to get, and that is WJC Gold - in the future I would like to try for the Triple Gold (Four Star Cup, Challenge Cup, IIHF/WJC Gold) so that's currently in progress! I wish we could have challenged for a second cup, but I'll be happy for the one that we got. In regards to the role I played with the Falcons - I am a team guy first and foremost, and I will play the role that coach asks me to me play. The other guys (O'Shea, Kanoff, Fantobens) were more offensively-oriented than me, and I'm okay playing the defensive partner in this scenario. I do wish I had gotten some more time on the attack to show what I can do, but I am a defense-man first and foremost. In that regard, I built Magnus to be someone that you can rely on in both ends of the ice, but I almost feel like trying to be versatile in this level is hard to do as there is so little TPE to spread around. Defense is hard - maybe I should have focused on that more. I will neither confirm or deny - and besides I drink so much water my pee is clear you can't tell! 07-13-2020, 09:38 AMreid_sutherland Wrote: -I'm looking forward to being able to specialize more in the big leagues with more TPE - to focus on certain parts of my build, and to see how it stacks up against other people. I'm going to give it my best shot to get to 2K TPE alongside you - hopefully real life does not interfere too much! 07-14-2020, 11:10 AMNhamlet Wrote: As a defenseman... I'm probably going to have to outshine other rookie defensemen such as Jukes [Jukka Timonen] and Jack [Kanoff] who are also coming up to the big leagues with me. They are generally more offensive oriented, and will probably score more points than me and get more ice time. Honestly, I am putting the team first and I will play the role that the coaches ask me to play, and if that means less minutes and less flashy moves on the ice, I'm okay with that. The team is more important than me, and the best way I can win Rookie of the Year (which usually goes to a forward, I think?) is to be the best team player I can be. However, I'd like to recommend my fellow Detroit alumni Reid Sutherland @"reid_sutherland" as a possible Rookie of the Year candidate! He's an underrated player who isn't flashy, but has a very solid two-way game. His creativity hasn't really been given free rein yet down in the juniors but I expect him to do big things in Winnipeg! ![]() ![]() ![]() Registered S15, S16, S24, S34, S38 Challenge Cup Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Registered Posting Freak ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Registered winnipeg aurora legend ![]() ACP Access Weenie Hut Jr. GM |
