Common sense salary cap fix
#16

Personally, I like the idea of a HTD and don't think it should be removed completely, just reworked so that its not as much of a discount as it is currently.

Why? What does it bring to the table?

i like the idea of changing the salary cap. HTD is something that should be the first thing gone and just that itself would help a lot of the situation with parity in the league. once the HTD and the Tiers are fixed, i think the league would be in a better place

This right here is a five-alarm fire. Something like that can't be allowed to happen.

There’s always 3-4 teams of the 16 that are rebuilding and not looking for these older players with high tpe.. under a new system could we fall under a situation where players tied into these amounts won’t have a team to go to?

Technically only three alarms, but yes, I agree.

That’s a great point Izz, with rebuilding teams why should a potential 1500 guy have to go to 0-50-0 TBB because the competitive teams ran out of money.

With expansion inevitably going to happen in the not too distant future and the fact that there’s plenty of teams not that far outside the playoffs who would happily make moves for top players (us, Winnipeg, San Francisco, New England last season etc.), no one is going to be forced to go to a 0-50 team because of a 2 mil cap increase on a very small percentage of players in the league

67 players are currently above 1,500

I’d be more interested to know how many are over 1600 seen as that’s the tier in the proposal

Between those two tiers that’s a what, 85 million cap hit to be shouldered when their latest contracts expired (which for some isn’t for a very long time), across say ten or 11 teams that aren’t tanking, which is easily set to rise with expansion on the cards? Really not that harsh of an increase imo

Yeah, kinda unrealistic that teams can just have top tier players on $3mil a season until their death

Also helps make the case for harsher regression.
