Nevada Battle Report Battleborn

BATTLEBORN GOON IT UP FOR LAST OF PRESEASON

The Nevada Battleborn finished out their preseason using a bold yet fun tactic by using all the players as goons. It all started after reports of testing this tactic being done outside of the league and getting results of on average more wins, more goals and less goals against. Well for sh*ts and giggles the Battleborn decided to run it themselves for the final preseason. They still happened to lose their two games in the sim but continue to surprise by staying competitive and not being blown out.

They started their last sim of the preseason with a 4 - 1 loss against the Colorado Raptors. The game was much closer then the final score indicates as Nevada kept the score within 1 until midway through the 3rd period, where the Raptors scored 2 unanswered goals, one of which was an empty net in the last minute of the game. The Battleborn did a better job in shot differential this game only being outshot 36 - 29. The big difference in "gooning it up" this sim was the amount of hits Nevada laid out, out hitting the Raptors 32 - 4. Nevada defensemen Sammy "The Goon" Koa (@ThatDamnWalrus) absolutely loving being able to live up to his moniker led the way for the Battleborn with 8 hits while also adding an assist on Nevada's lone goal.

For the Battleborn's second and final "goon" game they faced off against the Detroit Falcons, which they lost a hard fought game 3 - 2. Nevada was once again outshot this time 34 - 23 but also absolutely wrecked in the hitting department outhitting them 32 - 5. Sammy "The Goon" Koa (@ThatDamnWalrus) again led the way with a second consecutive 8 hit game, but it was rookie defensemen Tanjiro Kamado (@Andy) who played one of his best games of the preseason recording 6 hits and also adding 1 assist. James Kimanje (@"VRTX L4S3R") and newly signed rookie Harry Peckins (@quarex) scored for the Battleborn.

Now that the preseason is over the real work begins, no more silly goon tactics, just focusing on what's important, winning and developing as a team so the Battleborn are a force to be reckoned with for years to come. They may have finished the preseason 1 - 6, but the positives to be taken from it are the following. First of all they beat their expansion rivals the Quebec City Citadels. That game was an absolutely huge win for the Battleborn and are excited for their first regular season matchup which isn't until their 18th game of the season. Second of all they weren't shut out during any game. You can't win games without being able to score goals and even though the shots were sometimes hard to come by, the Battleborn were able to find the twine at the very least once a game and that is encouraging to see. Finally last but certainly not least is the play of rookie goaltender Phillip Weaver (@W19eaver) (definitely a bit of player bias going on here but hey sue me its my article), certainly living up to his 1st round draft status. Despite leading the preseason with shots against with 273, he has still put up a respectable save percentage at .901%, giving the Battleborn a chance to win on any given night. LETS GO BATTLEBORN
