Hello everyone! I realized recently that the Mock draft for this coming S56 draft is going to be hard but I figured why not give it a go as all things are going to be shaken up. I decided to use my article as a basis as well as some of the other ones in terms of what they are looking for both pre and possibly post expansion draft.

Before we get to the draft lets look at what the order would look like right now if the season ended today and the lottery went as predicted.

Now Using the updated draft pick tracker, we can now see that the first round if it was tomorrow would look like this:

So now we have 18 possible picks. Now we have to figure out which players could possibly go there. For this I will source @"Panda"'s article from Here

What I find interesting out of this list is that none of the GM's in this class are in this draft meaning that if the draft was based on TPE then none of the GM's would have been first round picks. The first GM to show up on this list is Los Angeles' own @Wasty. However what's also interesting with these players is that they may not necessarily fill the needs of the team is drafting them.

1. First we have Toronto who's need at least according to my article was defense, although their forward core is not very deep either. I believe that Flappy is a match made in heaven for this team with the first overall pick. They get the most value and get depth down the middle and add to their strong prospect pool, especially after possibly looking one or two to the expansion draft

2, The second pick is Tampa Bay and the player who matches up is none other than @Winter is Coming's Bane. Now in recent memory there was a thunderdome about Nevada not necessarily reaching out to free agent although clearly that was not founded as the Battleborn squad has grown including their decisive victory today for their 4th win. Now its possible that Tampa Bay and WiC could squash this and he could sell him on coming to Tampa Bay as one of his four first round picks or he may just go right. It is also possible that they would just go with Panda and his ever growing bank account to which I am using the player TPE rating for.

3. The third pick would be Expansion Team A. This would be interesting as Tampa Bay could grab Panda and based on this, Winter is Coming could go here. It could also be a possibility that he applies for this spot as this teams Co or for the next team's CO as well once the expansion teams and GM's are announced.

4. Expansion Team B would then have the fourth pick. I think CK here would be a good spot having been around a while, with a solid bank could very easily go here both for TPE reasons as well as being a solid member.

5. Minny would then have the 5th pick. As much as I do like to and numbers. I do believe that his return from inactivity could effect him here as well as involvment in other leagues (or at least used to be). He could go here realistically as I liked working with him I believe in the PBE as a fellow GM. However he (a lot like WiC before him) Could realistically go here but could also easily drop.

6. We now have the second of four picks that Tampa Bay has at the 6th spot. Based on TPE this is where Muford would fall. Muford is an active member as well as high TPE for his player. He also was highly thought of as a SMJHL player that he went in the first round in that draft as well. It is possible that he could go 6th overall to Tampa Bay.

7. At 7th we have new GM's TG91's first draft. What interesting about him is that he is a new member of the site. In this spot TPE-wise is reddit create Smiley and his player with 235 TPE. What makes this interesting was the he was not well known prior to the SMJHL draft but that may not define his value in this draft. It is very possible he could go but here it's possible he could also drop.

8. At 8th we have LAP who is going to get their GM's new player Villa who is a defenseman and would most likely be a first round pick. However they could also be looking at Kyarmpac's player Sarah Burke. What could be rough about this is they are already getting a defenseman in the draft for free. Would GM Wasty double dip and grab an active defenseman here or would that clog his blue line and him want to look for a forward instead?

9.At 9th we would have JP going New England which is run by Ace. To be honest I have no knowledge on their relationship or if this pick could actually happen or would happen. JP has been all over the league although I believe has mostly if not strictly has been in the Western Conference having been with Edmonton and Texas least I as much as I can remember. It is possible he could go here and be on the east coast but alas I have no idea.

10. Next we would have KO'd ByOvechikin going to Texas. This pick would be so close to reuniniting JP with Texas where one/multiple of his players has been? However this would be a hard fit for a SHL roster that already has 9 forwards on it before you look into their 10 player prospect pool that is coming up. It is more likely at least from my opinion that they would go defenseman here. It is also possible they go forward as two of their forwards are currently in regression and another few not far off.

11. This pick would then be Hamilton Picking up Awarren's new player. Unless I am mistaken Andrew has been here a while and from my knowledge has never been controversial. He is also a center which for Hamilton could be a need one day as some of their forwards in regression and others are not far from it. While centers peak later, they are also able to fight off regression longer as they are able to take points out of face-offs and become wingers later in their career. They do however have a send down with 710 TPE that could very well be coming up next season and change their dynamic or the need for a center.

12. I swear this wasn't planned but in this scenario, Jala would go back to the only home he has ever had which is Calgary. Calgary I believe was the home of both the first and second zoidbergs and its possible that Jala already knows some of the current dragons. He also I believe has shown that he is coming back in terms of activity and player build. It is very possible that Zoidberg goes from a 4th round to a first pick in this possible dream scenario for him.

13 + 14. Both of these picks belong to New England, not a terrible grab for GM Ace to have both back to back. The players that he matches up with here are Grok and L4E. Leaves has been around a very long time and has made countless good players as well as winning countless cups. In my opinion, if he falls here in the Draft Ace is ecstatic and grabs him. For Grok on the other hand I believe would be an active member for New England.

15. At 15 we have @JSS to Tampa Bay. Someone who I confused for a different member, went 6th overall in the SMJHL draft and with a high possibility of going up there again despite their TPE. They also have a become a long time member here and may not want to be part of a rebuilding franchise

16. This is probably the first pick I don't see happening with Whitecheck going to Los Angeles at the 16 pick. This mainly because I don't think he deserves it but if they follow this exact trend, this would be the third defender that LA would have drafted in the first round alone (including Wasty's new player).

17. This is a pick that would be very interesting as Buffalo quite possible stands the most to lose with this pick as it is highly possible that will have multiple players selected (or the most that is allowed) during the expansion draft. While being at the top is great, losing your talent is not. With a deep roster and a deep prospect pool, it is possible that Buffalo will not be happy with this pick or possibly even trade it in the expansion draft to not have any more players picked from one team. They would also be looking at Lim Jahey with this pick who is 17th overall in the draft in TPE.

18. This last pick would be Treant's player going to Tampa Bay. Same as Winter is coming, it is possible that this is another exact situation of someone who based our team. While this may be water under the bridge for Treant, it also may not be and they may want to go somehwere else instead. It is also possible with a reddit draft and a fairly deep class with notable names missing from list that Tampa Bay trades down into the earlier second round for more than one pick to get multiple players they want instead of a possible bad sitatuion.

While I think this was a cool way to do this I do think that list is no where near accurate. Although he is a goalie @W19eaver has proven not only to have a good player, but also be an active member and write media to make bank. There are also two SHL teams who would want to draft him as they do not have goalie's of the future, most likely settling for inactive players as their goalies early on. I also think that this list is missing the players of @enigmatic @Shmurph and @ztevans. I do believe all three of these were drafted in a SHL draft in the first round and I would be hard pressed to say that any of these members would not be a first round pick this year.

I know that this mock was based on TPE alone but it was interesting to see how many of the building teams actually had picks in the first round. With the expansion teams including, depending on how you look at it. 13 out of the 18 picks were for building teams. I think it will be interesting come draft time but that is still weeks away. Until the expansion teams are set and the expansion draft happens. We won't really know any details of how the draft could shape up and who could go where and what team actually wants each player. It looks to be an exciting season and a reddit draft that was stronger than initially thought. Which will culminate in an exciting draft night of excitement, tension, and hopefully happiness with players going where they wanted to go.

@Andy I never was drafted in first round in the SHL, you drafted me in the middle of the 2nd round with my first player and was autodrafted with the second. I'm also not that far behind at 222 TPE, only 2 behind 18th position in your list.

Nice piece!

Note that since Afalava/Wasty is a head GM, his player will be put on the Panthers for free with no need to draft him until their very last pick, so they can use that first rounder on someone else.

Yeah that’s what I meant, with wasty and the two other Defenseman lining up it would mean you guys would draft three of them which would probably be a bit of an overkill
