S56 PT #2 - Fix It

The problem with the Edmonton Blizzard is the dark cancer spot on the second line known as right winger Barrett Blackwood. What a bum. Have you seen his career trajectory? He started off his freshman and sophomore seasons with just 32 combined points. Then, over the next two years, he accrued almost 90 points. Last season came the stinker. Just 26 points for a guy that looked like he was ready to break out. Just when you thought he was on the verge, he flopped. When the Blizzard were looking for points in a postseason series loss to the New Orleans Specters, Blackwood was nearly invisible on the ice. He's on a point per game pace this season, but I'm here to tell him that he's not fooling anyone. The way to solve this problem is obvious: the GMs need to get there act together and get on the horn to some team dumb enough to bring on a guy who is about as hated in the locker room as they come. There's always one team out there that will be willing to take a flier on a guy who has shown some level of promise, no matter how fleeting. Maybe the team can get back something useful like a coffee machine or new conference table.

The Buffalo Stampede have a weakness when it comes to the leadership and I cannot name names here but there is a prominent hashtag promoted by the Stampede faithful and even many of the players related to this topic. Well, you can say that the management team is about 2/3 good but there needs 1/3 of work here. It is because there are some questionable decisions including trying to test and make lines using a game called Eastside Hockey Manager. Which, for those of you at home who are not aware, is not the same as Franchise Hockey Manager, which is what we use in the SHL. So that problem must be addressed and the way I would do that would be to require a a test of all management team members to ensure they know what they are doing and avoid bringing in management that is not knowing what they do. This test can be used to address deficiencies so that we here in Buffalo will not need to be victims to this tragic management.

The San Francisco Pride probably have the worst outlook of any team in the SHL. However, I do not know what the exact fix is. The San Francisco Pride have had all kinds of turnover with their roster as well as their leadership. The San Francisco Pride’s problem can’t be their location because they have not been in the city of San Francisco for very long. I am not sure what needs to happen, they just have to put together a decent season to try and get back on track and see what happens from there. Obviously it is going to be hard to keep developing players when the roster is bad and no free agent is likely going to want to come close. Perhaps the best solution is to just blow the San Francisco Pride up. The next expansion draft throw all of their players into the pool of draftable players and let them draft like they were an expansion team.

Texas is really solid and still improving but we are missing that one offensive defenseman that will put us over the edge. Our forward depth is strong and improving even with their top two earners either in or hitting regression soon. But their defense still has tons of potential. They just need that one dual threat player who is great on both ends of the ice, similar to Kvalheim. It comes in time and as the players continue to improve I expect this gap to close but I expect this to hinder them yet again in the playoffs. Their offense average in terms of production but they just need a little more from the blue line. It will be interesting to watch this develop, especially in Season 57 and Season 58. They are slowly starting to close the gap to the top teams in the west and an improvement like this just might be able to put them over the top.

I want to take a second here to try and fix the Buffalo Stampede. I think their branding is cool, there's a nice double-meaning to the corresponding city name, and there's plenty of success to be noted in franchise history... but can we talk about how gosh-darn cold it is up in Buffalo? Look, I get it: hockey's played on ice, and all of the kids that grow up with hockey live in cold areas, are rich, or fortunate to have a rink around where they live. But we have a team way down south in New Orleans and Anaheim, and I don't really see anyone struggling to win games there! My solution for the Stampede, my ever-lovely professional SHL team, is to move them to a more southern destination. I want to fix the weather to a place with seasons rather than misery, even if it's around the same latitude as Baltimore, Washington, D.C. or other cities of that ilk. Can't we find another city with an animal-like name and go from there!? There's a place in Nebraska called Eagle I'm pretty sure - let's start there and branch out!

There are a lot of flaws here in Texas, and i'll talk about two of them

1st off is the guy we have in the Co-GM roll, @RedCapeDiver, this guy has done fuck all for the team,i dont think i have seen him talk in discord once. the only time i ever hear from him is when contract negotiations come around he begs everyone to take a min contract because "its for the team", well fuck the team, im the best player this team has and i deserve a 10x10 and im going to make sure i let the guy know.

2nd is our scouting, we have this other guy who has been our head scout for a few seasons now and he does 0 work, its @RedCapeDiver, all he does is delegate the work to everyone else, and then when the time comes to actually draft he doesn't look at anyone's notes on players, he just picks the players by rolling some damn marbles down a virtual track, what the hell is that.

i dont know what our management was thinking puting these two bozo's in charge but after this im going to be writing them a very strongly worded message to them
i know it said no personal shots, but i hope personal shots against myself are ok

The Seattle Argonauts obviously are far from a perfect team considering they are a new expansion team. They also are far from being a dumpster fire and are definitely being built correctly and have a good future ahead for them. During the expansion draft they did an excellent job of collecting players that not only will help them in the future, but also now. It seems like they went with the best player available model instead of going for positional needs which is exactly what you should be doing with a new franchise. In the draft and free agency they managed to score a very impressive defensive core, lead by arguably the best defender in the league Cassius Darrow who is about a 2k TPE defender. They also scored Jack Kanoff (1k TPE), Abel Skinner (1k TPE), and Satoshi Zizagooney (1.5k TPE). Tig Murphy is also the GM's player who is sitting at 1.6k TPE. That is quite the impressive defensive core for the team already. Where they lack is up front where they only have 3 forwards with over 1k TPE. There is Knute Knurtsson (1004 TPE), Thomas Vanice (1096 TPE), and then Bo Kane (1587 TPE).

Falcons Canada

For the team that I would like to fix, it would have to be nonother than the Detroit Falcons. It’s crazy to want to fix a team that I don’t necessarily mind seeing at the lower end of the standings considering their domination a few seasons ago, but it’s clear they have a serious problem that may also affect other teams in the SMJHL. For such a dominant team that holds I believe the best winning record with about 86 points in their S53 season, the team has absolutely fallen far behind expectation season after season. It was particularly concerning in S54 when the S53 draft class had all reached their 425 cap but performed much worse. Not even in comparison with the season before or just relative to expectations, things just didn’t seem to go well for them and nothing has turned out positively since then. There’s only one answer and that’s they must have disturbed a sacred burial ground when they were celebrating their cup win in S53. The kind of bad juju they’ve been suffering from since then extends beyond bad luck and into the supernatural. I’m not sure if they’ll need to contact a priest, exorcist, a spiritualist or some sort of other paranormal specialist but whatever is haunting the play of the Detroit Falcons has persisted for about 3 seasons and there’s no reason to believe that it will stop in the near future.

I don't really want to pick on another team and describe where they're lacking so I'll go to my own Newfoundland Berserkers and talk about what we'd like to address. Coming off a championship season, there isn't too much to be upset about. Primarily, I think we've just got to continue to transition into this season, re-adjust expectations and get ready to make some more cup runs here. We're a more than capable team, so I don't think there's only glaring weak spot but just a general fine tuning across our roster. Whether that's the new guys continuing to grow or the veterans taking on some bigger roles both and on off the ice, it's just a little bit across the board that we have to fix up. As their GM, it's my job to motivate this change and help bring them across the finish line once again.

There really aren't a lot of weaknesses when you're looking at the Chicago Syndicate Roster. We have everything really and now it comes down to the FHM formulas to see if we are lucky enough to win the cup. If there is one weakness we do have however then it's the lack of anime waifus in the LR. I myself have a huge collection of multiple waifus that i show them from time to time but i don't get a lot of response sadly. So hopefully i can convert all these normies or we'll just have to arrange something in the draft to get some top tier weebs in here. However i do feel like we have a couple weebs in here, a lot more than my previous team, so this was a huge upgrade, anime-wise, socially, and competitively speaking. I couldn't be happier, except for the lack of anime waifus of course.

Beidou thicc come at me big boy.

The Battleborn are a brand new franchise in the SMJHL, so there are a lot of things on the plate for both GM's to do. With that being said one thing that I would have changed would have been the the goal horn sound. With the Ram being the team mascot/animal, the most logical thing would be to change the goal horn sound to a 3 minute Ram 1500 commercial. That way the team would have an extra way of making cash as Dodge would be paying for the commercial/goal horn, and it would succeed in annoying the ever living life out of everyone on the other team. On the bench, everyone would laugh as the opposing goaltender would be contemplating their life choices as they are soothed by the beautiful sound of a truck revving in the arena. Personally, I don't know why this hasn't been done yet, but I'm sure everyone would enjoy that goal horn immensely.

Chicago overalls been pretty good this season especially the defense and goaltending with one of the lowest goals and shots against in the league. While they also have one of the highest shots for per game they sometimes have trouble converting on these chances as in a lot of their losses they have been shutout and compared to a team like Hamilton have way less goals. Chicagos powerplay could also use some work as it's not awful but not nearly near the top of the league as it once was a few seasons ago. It's hard to be picky about Chicago or any team that's near the top of the league but when deeper playoff or cup runs are wanted pickiness is needed and for Chicago to achieve any of that they'll have to be at the absolute top of the game which they've shown some games throughout this season but also been flat for some others

New England has a few issues they could address to plug some holes in their team's performance.
1. Not tanking enough. If New England wants to get a good crack at the #1 pick every single year, they gotta play like they're allergic to goals. Sure it'll demoralize the hell out of the team to constantly lose, but that's the price to pay to bring aboard great prospects to tank with and drive out of the franchise.
2. Play Clean as his own line. If the wolfpack wants a Clean performance out of their team with the potential to Mop their competition with a playoff round Sweep, they need to put (Clean) Andrei Kostitsyn in his own line, filling every position (including goalie). Delegating him to a normal player's role is really hurting their chances.
3. Trade more 3rds. Ace made headlines when he traded the same 3rd multiple times, and then he came in to the SHL to scoop up the rookie of the year award. Coincidence? I think not. Management needs more pick-trading blunders if they want all their players to put up a "rookie of the year" performance.
