(GRADED) Deep Dive #1 - The case for the Falcons
#1
(This post was last modified: 10-22-2020, 12:36 PM by leafs1997.)

In the first game of the season, Detroit Falcons lost with 1-5 against St. Louis Scarecrows. The loss would be followed up with a win against Anaheim Outlaws, but after that the falcons would get shutout for three games in a row. The second win would come first after 11 played games where Kelowna Knights lost with 3-2 in a close game. After 27 games nothing looked bright for Detroit. 3-21-3, 9 points in 27 games is averaging a point per third game, a win every sixth game. But after game 28 is where things started looking up. A win against St. Louis Scarecrows then losing against Carolina Kraken would lead into the Falcons SKREEE-ing their way to another win against the Scarecrows before losing a game to the Knights.

At this point, something happened within Detroit Falcons. They went on a five(!) game winning streak and crushing the top team Berserkers twice. As of now there are 43 games played for Detroit Falcons. To show my point I am going to split the season in half. The 21 games will represent the first half of the season and the 22 following games will represent the second half of the season.

For the first half of the season, after 21 games had been played the Falcons had a record of 2-17-2. 6 points over 21 games. That is barely 0,3 points per game. For the second half of the season the record for the Falcons is 10-11-1. An insane difference! With 21 points over 22 games the Falcons have during the second half of the played season averaged almost a point per game. The points won are over 200% more than the first half of the season.

We are now heading into the final games of the season before the playoffs and things have started clicking for the Falcons. Recent games were both tough scheduled but also against Carolina Kraken, a team the birds have yet to defeat in the season, which, is quite understandable with Carolina being in the lead of Division East.

I have now shown that the Falcons can beat top teams such as the Newfoundland Berserkers while they also keep winning games against the lower ranked teams such as St. Louis Scarecrows and Kelowna Knights. This is where I will raise the point that the Falcons are still a team to watch, they are more dangerous than ever and going into playoffs with a good streak could potentially raise their chances even more.

There is one more update chance before the playoffs begin and if the rookies keep earning TPE at the pace they have been doing, it will be a welcome addition for the Falcons strength. The opposition is of course going to matter in this as well and the Falcons probably need a little luck to get an opponent that will work out in their favor. These last 7 games are of extreme importance as Detroit could potentially pass St. Louis and have a chance to face easier opposition.

All in all, Detroit has had a tough season but turned it around about halfway through. If the Falcons can keep it up for the last games of the seasons there is a good chance, with some luck, that the Falcons can get past the first round in playoffs and keep going even further.

Approved, +5 TPE @Halkohol
