Unfortunately this was Karl’s worst season in his career. 19 Points is a full 5 less than his previous career low point which came in his first and second season. It’s a bit disheartening seeing a depression like that in a phase where it should only be improving, especially entering the season around the 1400 TPE mark things were supposed to be better. Hand in hand with the lower personal performance was the fact that Baltimore was firmly among the bottom teams in the league this season. It does beg a question of is it the player? Is it the team? Is it a mixture of both? Whatever the answer ends up being, a change is definitely needed this offseason. Perhaps a larger focus on offense? Focus specializing on defensive ability? Train hard to be the best possible front of net presence in the league, so when the rest of the young BAP forwards are ready, they get an awesome resource to work with? Time will tell, but something needs to change. 172 Words Code: 3 TPE Code: 2. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) S55: BUF over NOLA. This might be due to some recency bias, but this one stands out for me because of how it has impacted the league overall. This series saw 2 juggernauts go punch for punch, switching up tactics between games and always lusting after that last little bit of oomph to push them over the edge and on top of the other team. Because of this intense battle of the minds, when the series saw itself going to game 7, New Orleans has one card tucked away up their sleeve. It was a written rule at this point that teams were limited in their ability to play more than 1 of each special role, but the other roles were left fairly open. This was the game that saw them ice every single forward as an aggressive forechecker role, and all but 1 defender as a two way. New Orleans ended up losing this game in overtime, and the league was forever changed, with the cap of 3 players per role per team. Regardless of whether this was effective or not, it changed the rules of the league which will have a lasting impact for seasons to come. 199 Words Code: 3 TPE Code: 13. They have a stacked lineup north of 1600 (which seems to me to be the magic number for stud player currently). Their strength runs through all lines when you get a player the caliber of Phelps sitting on the third line, you know that you have a strong, competitive team, and one I think is currently best in the league. 69 Words Code: b. Do you foresee the teams making any strategic adjustments during the course of the series? Should the teams be quick to switch tactics or stick with what they've been using? Both of these teams cross me as fairly tactical management / coaches – look at their recent history where HAM took out NOLA in what was a fairly tactics swing (and then the following sweep the next season). Buffalo has a strong team and good tacticians in their LR, they will be able to squeeze the most out of their highly skilled roster. 62 Words Code: c. These two teams hail from the Great Lakes Division. Which of the Great Lakes (Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie, Superior) do you think is the Greatest and why? Lake Superior, it has better than in it’s name. It is also the largest which everyone knows equals better. It is the largest freshwater lake in the world both by surface area, third largest by volume, it is the habitat for over 80 species of fish. Anyone claiming one of the other lakes is highly suspect and we should vent them immediately. 62 Words Code: d. If, once it is safe to do so, you had to go hang out in person with one of the users on Buffalo/Hamilton, who would you hang out with and what would you do? (if you pick gabe you get -1 tpe) DrunkenTeddy 100%. He came to mind immediately when thinking about either team. Now on our date I imagine us going to a sports bar and shooting the shit over wings and beers, possibly moving along to bourbon and cigars in the twilight hours. Top it all off with a cab ride home, lots of water, advil and a bucket for the morning hangover. Great Night. 65 Words Code: 4 TPE Code: 16.
