Knightly News Rookiewatch Ep. 2
#1

Welcome back to Rookiewatch! The season has just started and Kelowna has been putting up a great fight to start off! Today we're going to take a dive into how each of our rookies are doing as well as some exclusive interviews with the coaching staff on how the rookies are doing!! So let's dive into some stats from the first week of games!

First off we want to look at #A-Rye Izzy! Izzy showed some great work in these first games with a couple great assists as well as ponding the goalies with shots. So far we're seeing great things from Izzy and we can't wait to see how he continues to grow.

Gerry Atrick has been doing some serious work so far already scoring two goals! That's right this rookie has TWO goals to his name!! Atrick is definitely in the running for the best showing from a rookie this first week!

Up next we want to look at Roboute Guilliman! Guillimans stat line on initial look is not looking the best. With 0 goals and 0 assists we hope he can start working on these areas. The thing he has been showing us though is his faceoff percentage! He has been able to keep a 60% faceoff win out of the 90 faceoffs he's taken. It's really encouraging to see that he is able to do something on the ice. Hopefully as the season goes on he can improve even more on his game.

Another rookie that has been holding his own has been Danny C! This guy has been putting regular shots towards the net and while he has yet to score a goal we know ones coming! Danny is also showing that he's not afraid to throw his body around and has been getting some great hits in these games.

Richard LaFleur has been doing great! He already has his first goal and assist under his belt and continues to put a number of shots on the goalie. In addition to his shots on goal he has been throwing some great hits around. Now hopefully he can keep his penalty minutes down and not get too carried away with his aggression.

Travis Koncny has been doing pretty well and has racked up two assists. He has also been throwing a lot of pucks at the net which is great to see! He is also doing pretty well at the faceoff dot sitting at a 50%. We're glad to see him doing well.

Last but not least we have Christopher Ford! Ford has been doing well to get shots on the net. He does need to work on holding onto the puck a bit more. He had the most giveaways from the rookies. Still though if he can work on holding onto the puck better he can do well!
Overall we think Gerry definitely had the best season start of the rookies. His ability to score and be a key aspect to our wins is amazing to see!

We got a chance to spend some time with the coaching staff over at Kelowna and got some great insights into what sparked their interest in these rookies and what they are looking forward to for them.

#A-Rye was probably on most teams radar but Kelowna had high hopes for this kid. Seeing him grow up in the league under his father they saw the player this kid was turning into and felt that he would be a great pick early in the draft. Both for his skills on the ice as well as his great presence in the locker room. Even if the team loses some garbage cans due to fires or peoples hands if they get too close to #kitty.

Much of the coaching staff said that they knew they wanted to pick up Gerry early. This guy has been known for giving 110% all the time and we can clearly see that with Gerry being ranked as one of the top rookies in the class. He is also just a great guy to have in the locker room.

We heard from the staff that Roboute really came onto their radar through some great interactions with scouts. Apparently he has some weird long lost cousin kind of ties to the team which helped out a bit. But this draft was also pretty shallow when it came to centers so they felt it was important to pick one up earlier rather than later.

Danny was another player that we heard had great interactions with the kelowna scouts and showed some real promise. Kelowna was looking for winger and Danny was their best option at this point in the draft. And We believe this was a great pick up. Danny has a great presence in the locker room and is doing his best to improve with the team.

Richard sparked the attention of Kelowna by his drive to improve. Some might say he spends an unhealthy amount of time at the rink working to improve his skills but it seems to be working for him. And so Richard was just what Kelowna was looking for.

Travis was another one that came onto Kelowna's radar by the great interactions he had with the scouting staff. At this point in the draft Kelowna was on the hunt for another forward and felt that Travis would make a great addition to the team.

And last but not least Christopher caught Kelowna's eye because of his success he had in another league. And felt that this commitment would translate bringing him into the SHL league.

Between the coaching staff each one can't say enough about how good they felt about drafting these rookies. And now that the season has started and the team is starting to work together. The energy in the locker room is incredible to see everyone is being active and working together to create a fun and exciting culture. But you can tell behind the smiles and the fun everyone is striving towards higher goals.

The coaches talked a lot about how the goal for these rookies is to help bolster the foundation of Kelowna. And we can not wait to see these guys after they get a bit of experience under their belt. But for this season the bar is set at the middle of the pack or higher for the team. So let's see if these rookies can step up and show us what they have.

The whole coaching staff seems to be ecstatic over the energy in the locker room. Everyone is having a great time and working their hardest to do the best they can. The players are connecting with each other extremely well as if they have already had multiple seasons together.

Over all we believe that these rookies are going to really ignite the Kelowna fire. If teams know any better they should be careful with how they rank or evaluate this team or they might just have their lunch money stolen out from under their noses. We look forward to how the start of the season kicks off. Look forward to our next episode of Rookiewatch as we have a special rookie guest interview!
