The Newfoundland Berserkers were a team before the S57 SMJHL draft that was looking to make a big impact on the league. They lost several key pieces in callups to the big leagues so they needed to take a good hard look at this draft and turn things around after just missing a championship the previous season. After their loss the previous season they were marked in at the 11th overall pick for the first round and the 11th spot in all subsequent rounds. Unfortunately, they did not have a second-round pick so they would need to make to do with just a first and later round picks. It was a hard decision to make on what to do with that 11OA overall pick as the time drew closer for the Berserkers war-room to make their decision. The Falcons had the 2OA, 3OA, and 4OA picks so they were going to determine the way the draft went. After 10 picks finally came off the board eventually it was their turn. With the pick, they chose Billy Brooks. Billy was a defenseman from Ireland and had created at the TDL the previous season and not yet missed any TPE. Since the draft, he has been max earning well. He bought the highest tier of equipment right off the bat and has not missed any tasks since he has become a Berserker. Brooks came to the team as a relatively well-rounded player, but that has not been in his best interest for the type of game he is playing. After some working with his coaches, he has gotten his checking abilities and defensive read abilities way up. Overall, Billy has been a top earner in his class and he looks to stay that way for a while. A good use of a pick for Newfoundland. After the 11th pick was up and gone it came time for the draft to continue. The second round came and went with several strong names flying off the board left and right before it finally came time for Newfoundland to pick again. They were up at 31 overall to make their next selection. This was also a tough decision, but eventually, the management team of the Berserkers decided to draft Ric Charlesworth. The user behind Ric is a guy by the name of Simo and he is one of my favorite people in sim leagues. He is really cool and a great LR presence so I am happy the Berserkers management team could get him. Since the draft, he has been living up to his position in the third round by earning very well. He is currently third on the team in TPE earned behind Athanasios and Brooks. Charlesworth is Center and in his brief time with the team, he has been focusing largely on his puck skills. He has struggled a bit this season so far, only putting in 3 goals over 46 games, but he is slowly getting better and hopefully will be a force to be reckoned with soon. After the drafting of Charlesworth, the Berserkers came up again for picks 37 and 38. With these picks, they selected Nike Kickz Jr and Jesse Trudeau. Kickz Jr has made his way to 241 TPE already in his career which is a very respectable number for the position in which he was drafted. It puts him up there with other top earners in the class. He is a Right Wing and so far has been working very hard on both sides of the puck to keep his game effective and balanced. He was one of the best picks for the Berserkers last season and I am excited to see what he can do in his career down the line. After the Kickz Jr pick the front office made the decision to select Jesse Trudeau. Jesse has been earning decently and he is around the locker-room, but he seems to be about the level of activity where he was drafted. He is currently 217 TPE and playing Left Wing. After those two picks, the Berserkers moved on to the 50th Overall pick. This pick would prove to likely be the last solid pick for the team in this draft. They got Shion Okamoto who is a Left Defense. Shion has been earning decently well at a current 221 TPE. His build is very strong with lots of emphasis on his physical ratings. Still active. A very strong pick for the Beserkers in the latter parts of the draft. Moving on, The Berserkers next pick was was at 57 OA and they selected Ilya Sokolov. Sokolov is currently sitting at 180 TPE. They have only claimed a few ACs since joining the league so they look to be inactive. A very late pick so it's normal to expect. After that pick things moved on to 63 overall where the Beserkers selected Sebastion Andrews. Sebastion never signed and is currently inactive. After that the  Beserkers passed the rest of the way. Overall a strong draft and a making of good players from not so great picks.
