**DOUBLE MEDIA DOLLAS**

Fedor Sotakov steps outside his Northfield condo with a suitcase in tow. He thinks about the day he bought the suitcase as he strolls toward the corner of Northfield Blvd and 48th Street. He walked into the store that day with the intent to buy a specific model of suitcase. He researched it for a few weeks. Fedor walked fast to the aisle he knew this case was located. He spotted and reached for it… A young woman also grabbed the case’s handle at the same time…

“Oh, I’m sorry,” Fedor says. He lets go, she smiles, and walks away with the suitcase. Fedor then realizes that was the only specific model the store had on the shelves. He is slightly aggravated, but thinks to himself, “ah, it’s just a container to put my shit in when I travel”. Fedor grabs another model and head for checkout. It is not nearly as nice as the top model, but it is good enough.

Fedor is at the corner where he can hail a cab or catch an Uber on standby. He sees an available Uber 25-yards ahead… He waves to the driver who acknowledges and gets into the car. Fedor opens the door… from out of sight, another guy hops in the car and slams the door shut. The car pulls away, leaving Fedor stunned on the street. “What a rude asshole,” he thinks to himself.

Fedor maintains his composure and pulls out his phone. He finds another Uber within 25 minutes to his location and requests the ride. This Uber is not as good as the first one, but it will do. This Uber will get Fedor to his destined location albeit not at his preferred time. Still, he is lucky to be able to travel for his work, thus he should be content.

At the terminal of Denver International Airport, Fedor steps aside while another couple cuts ahead of him in the check-in line for Southwest Airlines. “There is not thing wrong with being second in line,” he thinks to himself.

Fedor’s wait is becoming incredibly long, and he is becoming impatient. He finally makes it to the counter and is greeted by a friendly attendant. She informs him that his request for first class seating cannot be accommodated. “I am sorry, Mr. Sotakov, there is no room left in first class,” she says. Sotakov is becoming aggravated, but he accepts that a flight in coach is a flight, nonetheless.

Things get worse as Fedor is handed his boarding pass. “25B” it reads. “Shit, I’m sitting in the middle,” he thinks to himself. Sitting in a middle seat was not Fedor’s first choice when he booked his flight online. Still…

Fedor is in the TSA Pre-Check line and steps up to the agent when it is his turn. She informs him that his boarding pass is missing the pre-check authorization. Fedor knows this is a mistake, but he does not have the time to go back to the Southwest kiosk and get it corrected. The TSA agent ushers him into the regular security check area. The line is long, and it will take time. Again, not his first choice, but he will deal with it if he wants to make his flight.

For the third time since he left his house this morning, Fedor is kind enough to wait while another person goes ahead of him. It gets worse as Fedor is plucked for an additional security screening. He steps off to the side where he is again waved for metal and frisked by TSA agents. He looks over and sees another set of agents rummaging through his suitcase, a suitcase he never wanted in the first place. In that moment, Fedor feels like a second-class citizen.

Fedor is cleared by the TSA. He thinks they targeted him because he is a Russian national. Either way, the shit in suitcase is now a mess and he is in a sprint to his gate. As he makes his way from the security checkpoint, the “Gate 25” sign gets closer and more visible. He can see the line of travelers has formed. The flight is boarding, but the line is getting smaller. Fedor is now extremely anxious and agonizing over the potential they will shut the doors to the aircraft any minute…

Fedor makes it to the terminal with what seems like seconds to spare.

Fedor is practically shoving his boarding pass in the attendant’s face. He is panicked but she is staring at her clipboard of passenger names.

“Sir, it will be just a second…” she says.

Fedor is sweating. His flight will be extremely uncomfortable. Seconds finally pass and Fedor’s boarding pass is scanned. He heads down the rampway and looks for his seat.

His seat in row 25 is easy to spot because it is the only vacant one. He looks for a space in the overhead compartments to store his bag but there is no room. The flight attendants are nagging at him and anxious to take off. Fedor has no choice but to shove his bag under the seat in from of him. His leg room is now minimal.

Fedor is finally seated in the middle of row 25. He buckles in as the plane starts to move. The pilot comes on the speakers to welcome the passengers. “We are currently second on the runway for takeoff,” he says.

Seconds go by and the plane is in the air. Fedor Sotakov is on his way…elbows pinned to his ribcage and feet together…sitting bitch in row 25, seat B.

“This couldn’t be any more of a second-rate trip to San Francisco,” he thinks to himself.
