As you would expect of the Atlantic leaders, the Newfoundland Berserkers are feeling really good going into the playoffs. Right now the teams efforts are being spread evenly across both on ice and off the ice areas. On the ice the team are looking to refine the detail to their game and keeping their hot hands warm, with MVP contenders Jesse Trudeau and Leon Athanasios aiming to strike quickly and strike often. While the power houses like Billy Brooks and Pasta the Turtle are just going around lifting every heavy object they can find so when it's time to hit the ice they are ready to put a hurting on any unlucky opponents that come across their path. It's not all physical however, the team are also getting mentally prepared for the playoffs, lot's of high fives, lots of wehs and lots of dancing to the 1997 worldwide hit, Barbie Girl by Aqua.

Future SHL squad - Texas Renegades

The Colorado Raptors have had a lot of success this year, earning the first round bye.  It has built up a great mix of veterans and rookies, up and down the roster.  The team will treat the playoffs like any other series of games it had this year.  The regular season was brutal with the number of back to backs but with that stress, the team overall has grown.  The team plans on having a team dinner during the bye weeks to take in one last chance to relax before the start of playoffs. 

Captain Ruggsy says some words of encouragement and some of the older veterans each give their own speech about what to expect.  The main theme is that the playoffs are tough (especially staring down the barrel of Anchorage as a possible match-up).  The night is jovial and long lasting. 

The next day, practices will resume with the same intensity throughout the year.  Even though the routine is the same as the regular season, everyone seems to have extra intense and they are really focused on getting better before the start of playoffs.  Finally, the whole team makes plans to watch the first round together.  The team has now become a very cohesive unit that will be hard to beat.

Nevada's playoff prep is not really much different than our gameday prep, except maybe that its more focused on a single goal. Obviously the goal in the regular season is to win games, but thats not quite what we are going for now. The first sign of change is that the Anchorage Armada logo is all over the place. On shooting targets, on punching bags, on player lockers, EVERYWHERE. This is encouraging hate, and why would we want to encourage hate? Well dear reader, we want to do the thing. Anchorage finished second in the standing, teams 1, 3, and 4 all got byes, Anchorage didnt. We want to ruin their season by making the second place team lose in the first round. After that, we have no plans, and even have a team outside of our own we are cheering for, but until that situation comes to be, we will eat, drink, and breath Anchorage hate.

The Quebec City Citadelles are really excited for the playoffs. They finished in 6th place with 70 points & I'm not sure if this is correct but they are playing the St. Louis Scarecrows. The way they have been preparing for the playoffs is they have been having really good practices in the mornings & if the coach & Tyler Ward are happy with the way practice has gone then they choose a night to go to Denny's. A little team bonding by going to the restaurant & they have been resting on the days off. They've basically prepared all season for playoffs so they're not wanting to change their game up too much. They had a couple of games near the end where they lost a bunch in a row & knew they needed to push harder if they wanted to make playoffs. They finished the season off with 2 wins in a row & are hoping to head into playoffs with that momentum.

The Vancouver Whalers have had an up and down season. With a number of new rookies, the team has been focusing on growing and determining our strengths and weaknesses. That being said, the team and management are confident going into playoffs that we have potential to succeed. The locker room is in good spirits and everyone has been training and feels determined to push our run as far as we can. Management has had us experiment with new lines and roles that could drive the team forward into a playoff powerhouse. Finishing the regular season in 10th place, our hopes are to be a dark horse going into playoffs and take the league by surprise. With high scoring capabilities and a solid defense, the Whalers are set to exceed expectations and show the league our true potential. With our first day ahead of us, everyone is excited for the tricks up our sleeve and to play our first matches against Carolina.

After having a season with lots of ups and downs, the Anaheim Outlaws finished the season in eight place. Therefore the Outlaws will play Maine Timber in the first round of the playoffs, which will be a very special matchup for my player after being picked up on waivers by Maine last season. Therefore High Haschdi is able to give Anaheim some special information about certain Maine players as he knows them very well from training and the games last season. Furthermore, the Outlaws are watching many games from Timber this season to find additional strengths and weaknesses of the team. Especially the matchups between those two teams are interesting and are analyzed very carefully. At the moment, Anaheim is preparing some very special tactics to exploid the weaknesses of Maine, but I can't talk too much about it, you'll find out how that works out soon though! After finishing the season 9 points ahead of Maine, the Outlaws should be a close favourite in this matchup.

There's only one way to properly prepare for the playoffs if you are a member of the Anaheim Outlaws, and that's strip clubs and bad decisions. Every year, Outlaw tradition dictates that the rookies must foot the bill for a wild night out before their first playoff game, now you might be wondering, wouldn't that cause them to be hungover and play poorly? Well, we asked Top Cheddar, and he said "We just built different". Alot of what took place on this night I can't even write down for fear of repercussions from the law, but it's safe to say that nobody, and I mean nobody, knows how to party quite like Anaheim. "It's just a huge bonding experience, I mean alot of people will mock us and say we are immature and need to grow up, but fuck them, we like to have fun here in Outlaw country." said Daniel Merica Jr.

Mainly the Anaheim Outlaws are ready to spoil the hopes and dreams of every team we face in the playoffs. We may not be the strongest or fastest team out there, but we'll make you pay for every mistake, make you have to earn every goal, every inch of ice you need to fight for. We can really light up the stats sheet when you look down on us, and we'll make you wish you didn't. So we're going into this ready to brawl, but loose, and wanting to have fun as well. We know the expectations are low so, we aren't pressuring ourselves too much. We're playing a lot of music, laughing, joking, and generally just wanting to prove to ourselves that, we are ready to make the next step, whether it be now or next season. We also have done a few card and video game tournaments after practices, which I'm happy to say, I dominate the video games. The cards, well, let's just say Im happy my rookie contract pays well!

S36 Cloud McCarthy - Halifax Raiders - Retired

Somehow during the pre-season and post-season the Timber always seem to overperform. While their players ended the season with not the highest of points totals, their roster is young and up and coming, and are proving to be lethal at times if not taken seriously. They played hard at the end of the season in order to get a favourable slot against the Outlaws, who have been more even against the    than their games against the Kraken. (Mostly losses)

On the forward front Maine picked up Clifford Wilson, and should see strong leadership from Johnny Tsunami, strong rookie J.J.J. Angler, and a young but ambitious trio of centers Godwood Maple, Miguel Hefeweizen, and Maxime Allard.

Janne Virtanen and Sean Gatez will be a solid top paring hopefully raking in a solid 23 minutes or so. The 2nd paring getting around 20 mins per night will be Puddles O'Duck and Duncan the Walrus who are lovingly called by the team "Honk and Chonk". The third pairing features up and coming D-Man Philip Demitra, as well as new acquisition Randy Marsh who replaced the afk Lucas Kaiser at the end of last season. 

Lastly the team has two aging out goalies in Bigga Foryu and Bloody Oath who will want to finish the season strong with a competitive playoff showing.

The Kraken are going all out to prepare for a big playoff run. Coach has us on a strict training regimen, extra ice time sessions and one-on-one video sessions. Conditioning is key to playing the up-tempo hockey that Carolina prizes for a full sixty minutes every night. Off the ice we're all sticking to the meal plan, including the special post-season addition of one pound of calamari per week to absorb the power of our spirit animal. Roddy B has taken the initiative to bring the younger guys along to his underwater yoga class to "feel more like kraken." With so many potent rookies in the Carolina lineup, their performance is going to be key to finding ways to win in the tough matchups ahead. Roddy B told Max Power for SportsNOW ActionDesk that he "feels totally fired up." Wise words.
Hopes and expectations are high, and the Kraken are fighting fit to spring some surprises on the SMJHL.

The Quebec City Citadelles are preparing for the playoffs with a two pronged approach.

First, we have all been drinking our favorite beverages from miniature replica Four Star Cups. It is meant to be a small reminder of what it is we are playing for- a championship. Repeating, after all, is the hardest thing to do in professional sports.

As an aside, if my game one is terrible, it is most likely the Jack and Cokes to blame. No, it is most definitely the Jack and Cokes to blame.

More importantly though, everyone on the team has been training really hard to get themselves in the best shape to play. They have been putting in the work it takes to be successful in this sport. They say it is a long season, but it has honestly flown by. Now it has come down to a last minute crunch to prepare for St. Louis in round one. It will no doubt be a tough match up.

Tomorrow, I may post a Scarecrow on the ice and just obliterate it with a punishing hit to fire the team up. I just need to find some straw.
